This study compares the safety and effectiveness of retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in treating kidney stones larger than 2 cm. Results indicated that RIRS had a longer average surgery duration but significantly shorter hospital stays and lower complication rates compared to PCNL. The stone-free rates were 66.6% for RIRS after one session, improving to 87.7% after two sessions, while PCNL achieved a 91.8% stone-free rate after one session.
