Adjectives have three forms :
POSITIVE FORM
• It is used to make a comparison between two
equal things or persons.
• The expression ‘as…..as’ is normally used.
More Examples:
1. Mary is as hardworking as Lila.
2. My father is as beautiful as my mother.
3. Today’s weather is as bad as yesterday’s.
4. Tyler’s car is as old as mine.
COMPARATIVE FORM
• It is used to make a comparison between two
unequal things or persons.
• The expression ‘than’ and ‘more’ are used.
More Examples:
1. John is taller than Mary.
2. Pauline is prettier than her sister.
3. Of the two men, Danny is more handsome.
4. Peter’s essay is worse than mine.
SUPERLATIVE FORM
• It is used to make a comparison between three or
more things or persons.
• We normally use ‘the’ before the adjective.
Eg:
1. John is the tallest in his class.
2. Gavin is the most handsome boy in our class.
3. The Nile River is the longest river in the world.
4. Of the three boys, Eddy is the shortest.
