Imagery in Macbeth
Imagery in Macbeth Violence and the bloodshed that results are important symbols in
Shakespeare s Macbeth. While the blood that is shed is a tangible reminder of the outcomes of
misused power, it also serves as an image that provokes Macbeth to reflect upon his deeds, even if
he does not change his behavior. Macbethbecomes obsessed with the blood on his hands.
Unfortunately, this reminder of his guilt does not prevent him from continuing violent acts.
Marshall Mc Luhan.
Macbeth, one of the most intriguing tragedies by Shakespeare, has an extensive use of imagery
throughout the play. References to blood and other abstract objects set the tone of various scenes in
the play to pace the action, to characterize the nature of death and ... Show more content on

All present question this bloody piece of work , and King Duncan s two sons decide that the
Scottish nation is no longer safe for them, as the murderer may now focus his attention on them.
Hence, they escape from Scotland, Malcolm goes to England, and Donaldbain seeks refuge in
Ireland.
Post Banquo s murder, the references to blood increase even further, with quotes like, don t
shake thy gory locks at me becoming all the more common. The murderers, whom Macbeth had
hired to kill Banquo, describe his body lying in a ditch with twenty trenched gashes on his head .
The imagery of blood is shown in such a way that there is a profuse amount of blood flowing after
every murder in the play.
These references to blood observe their peak with Lady Macbeth s imagined blood and the
battlefield which form a crescendo to conglomerate all the murders performed in the play. Out
damned spot. Out, I say! One two! a passing reference is also made by the second apparition to
Macbeth, be bloody, bold and resolute . Because blood forms the prologue and epilogue of every
murder in the play, it sets the ball rolling for the wave of action in the play. The fact that blood
imagery predominates in the play gives the play a tinge of horror.
It will have blood, they say. Blood will have blood

The value of objective and subjective evidence in understanding mental health conditions
It is important to consider both subjective and objective evidences to gain a comprehensive picture
of any mental health condition. I am going to demonstrate through examples how parallel
considerations can be used by clinicians to gain a full understanding of mental health disorders.
Subjective evidence is how the patient interprets the working of his own mind. It includes what he
reports about his thoughts and feelings including any uncomfortable sensations or distressing
thoughts. Objective evidence on the other hand is measurable. It comprises of any signs of the
illness that can be observed by a third person and any abnormality that has a ... Show more content

He takes into consideration not only the patient s mental state but also the patient s general physical
health, psychosocial or environmental problems, their ability to integrate into society and take care
of themselves.
Subjective evidence includes the thoughts and feelings of the patient. It comprises of the
symptoms the patient is reporting and the level of distress he is experiencing. A patient suffering
from depression for example might report symptoms of having dark thoughts, feeling blue, can
complain of persistent low mood, outbursts of crying, decreased appetite and activity levels, lack
of sleep. These are all examples of subjective evidence. Objective evidence about the condition
includes any signs noticeable to the clinician that can be taken as an indication of mental disease.
This can include slumped posture, poor hygiene, scruffy appearance, sadness, crying, sighing or
pacing. Lack of appetite can be a symptom a depressed person is complaining about, while the
amount of weight loss is measurable and objective. Aches, pains and flulike symptoms may not
have any biological basis in the body but can be psychosomatic manifestations of the depression.
Moreover depression usually accompanies many severe, long term conditions.

Taking a Look at Ellen Degenres
Ellen DeGeneres, beloved media icon and entertainment pioneer, have reached deep into the
audiences hearts since her first comedy stand up appearances in the eighties through her works on
television today. While many Americans now know DeGeneres for her syndicated talk show, The
Ellen DeGeneres Show, and her countless awards, such as the Emmy Awards, American Comedy
Awards, and People s Choice Awards, she is more than just a television celebrity. Both on screen
and off screen, Ellen DeGeneresplays a vital role in various humanitarian efforts and in a civil right
movement throughout the course of her career.
One issue that Ellen DeGeneres fights against is adolescence bullying cases in America. In the past
years, DeGeneres and her show have partnered with Trevor Project and Pacer Center to raise
funding and awareness for the anti bullying movement in the United States. DeGeneres even
launched the PSA titled Be Kind in her effort to spread awareness. Although she might just be one
of many advocators against bullying, her popularity greatly contributed to the spread of the
movement. With Ellen DeGeneres s effort, America is one step closer to eradicating bullying.
During national crisis, Ellen DeGeneres reaches out to many Americans to comfort and relieve
them. After the attack on September 11, 2001, DeGeneres s performance as a host in the Emmy
Awards, while inappropriately timed, was perfectly balanced between wit and heartfelt emotion. 1

Dengue Fever And Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
Dengue is believed to have originated in primates before jumping to humans via an insect vector
100 800 years ago in either Southeast Asia or Africa. (cdc.gov/dengue/epidemiology) Dengue
became a prevalent issue during the 20th century as a result of the Second World War inadvertently
transporting the insect vector from place to place along with cargo. (cdc.gov/dengue

cases began to crop up in Latin America and the Caribbean. (cdc.gov/dengue/epidemiology)

clinicians call a 48 hour critical window when the patient begins to show the symptoms of dengue
hemorrhagic fever. (cdc.gov/dengue/symptoms/index.html)
Family members caring for a dengue infected patient need to keep vigil over the person and bring
them to hospital immediately if they begin to complain of severe abdominal pain with or without
vomiting, vomiting blood, tarry stools, bleeding from the gums or nose red patches on the skin, and
signs of shock such as pale, cold, clammy skin, difficulty breathing, drowsiness and/or irritability.
The cause of these severe symptoms is during the 48 hour window; even the smallest vessels of the
body begin to leak and can lead to catastrophic fluid loss, leading to hypovolemic shock and death.

Definition Of Sanctity Of Human Life
Definition:
Sanctity of human life refers to the fact that human life, due to the fact that humans are created in
the image of God and share His likeness, is valued over the lives of plants and animals. Unlike
plants and animals, God blessed us with the ability to experience and convey emotion. Humans
also can be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ or condemned to hell if they choose not to accept
Christ. Man is the only being created in the image of God, therefore having the aforementioned
blessings of emotion and salvation, making man so much more important. When people ignore this
fundamental and necessary sanctity of life, terrible things like abortion and mass shootings occur.
History:
A biblical example of a violation of the sanctity of human life is in Genesis 4, the story of Cain and
Abel. Cain violated the sanctity of human life and killed his own brother simply because Abel s
sacrifice was accepted by God, but Cain s was not. Cain did not give his best to God in the
offering, but instead of dealing with his own shortcomings with God, he murdered his brother
out of anger and jealousy. By not fixing his own heart issue, he committed a vile sin that would
forever shape his own life and the life of his descendents. There are many modern examples of
this disregard for the value of life, such as: abortion, mass shootings, suicides, and suicide
bombers. One major example is the recent Los Vegas shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival
where 59 people were killed and at

Alternatively, if you attend an osteopathic medical school, which places more emphasis on the

All physicians must earn a license in order to practice medicine in the United States. If you are an

D.O., you must pass the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Exam (COMLEX). The
USMLE and COMLEX consist of three parts and test candidates on how well they apply basic
science concepts to the practice of medicine.
After you become a licensed physician, you have two options for plastic surgery training. You can
complete three years in a general surgery residency followed by a 3 year plastic surgery residency,

Witchcraft Trials And The Salem Witch Trials
The Salem witchcraft trials took place in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and
May 1693. The news of witches began to spread in Salem when a group of young girls gathered
together in the kitchen of the Reverend Samuel Parris with his Indian slave named Tituba to
experiment with witchcraft. After these young girls began to portray unusual behavior the village
doctor came to the scene and diagnosed the girls to be possessed by the devil. The news of the
presence of witches spread throughout Salem like a craze and lead to a series of accusations and
turmoil.
The Salem witchcraft trials were a collection of trials, hearings, accusations, imprisonments, and
executions that sought to get rid of the influence of witchcraft from the Salem population. The vast
majority of people who were accused of being witches were mostly women. These accusations had
more to do with the social status of these women rather than to seek to understand them. The first
hanging began with the death of Bridget Bishop in June and continued until September. The Salem
witchcraft trials included an example of scapegoating because Puritans feared that the devil was
continuously looking for ways to test their faith.
Today the term witch has been used in films, books, and in pop culture. In the seventieth century,
an example of a person who was considered a witch was generally someone who appeared to be
involved with the devil by portraying unexplainable behavior. In Salem, the Puritans

today is still an independent state under illegal occupation. In 1950 the People s Republic of China
occupied the territory of Tibet claiming it was its right. For this reason, there has been an ongoing

The Fight Between Male And Female Manager
Regardless of the amount we adore our jobs, the greater part of us can hardly wait to get past the
work week. Also, at times no measure of coffee can wake us up or propel us to complete our
assignments before the end of the day. In any case, on the off chance that you have a female
manager, then risks are you might find that additional inspiration to build your efficiency.
In the fight between a male versus female manager, you may expect that a male supervisor may be
superior at running the show, since guys are frequently seen as natural born leaders. Individuals
who act in ways that are incongruent with their sex role tend to be evaluated negatively (Eagly and
Karau, 2002). This incongruity can create problems for female managers because characteristics
necessary to be a successful leader are more frequently associated with the male gender role
(Elsesser and Lever, 2014). In the United States today, females from one perspective are
commended as having the right blend of abilities for initiative, yielding unrivaled leadership styles
and extraordinary efficiency. Then again, there seems, by all accounts, to be across the board
acknowledgment that ladies regularly come in second to men in rivalries to achieve leadership
positions. Females are still depicted as struggling for access to leadership positions and in addition
prejudice and resistance when they occupy these roles.
If you have a particular sexual orientation inclination for your optimal manager or boss, you may be

Due the Potsdam Declaration, Japan was required to revert back to the size of its empire prior to
1894, subsequently forcing Japan to give up all of the territories they had acquired during World
War 2, (such as French Indochina, Burma, the Philippines, and parts of China) and even before
World War 2 like Taiwan and Korea. Since the Korean Empire had dissolved after Japanese
annexation, the new Korea was left without a government. The United Nations decided that the best
solution was to split the Korean peninsula at the 38th parallel, put the Soviet Union in control of
the North, the United States in control of the South, and to hold free democratic elections in both
areas. The idea behind this was to set up a temporary government and eventually the two would
merge. In the South, Syngman Rhee was elected while in the North, the Soviets ignored the United
Nation s plan, established a communist state, and put Kim Il Sung in charge. (Young) The war had
begun with North Korean leader Kim Il Sung s desire to unify the peninsula under communist rule.
Before WWII, the peninsula had been one country (Han). You could say that the Korean War could

Violations Of International Humanitarian Law
Nowadays, the number of violations of international humanitarian law s norms had become an
increasing phenomena. The situation requires urgent and effective international control and
prosecution in international tribunals for grave crimes recognised under international humanitarian
law as crimes presenting real threat for humanity and peace. In order to control such crimes, the
relevant legal mechanisms for international prosecution were established by creation of ad hoc
tribunals: International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and International
Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) . In 1993, UN Security Council established ICTY as result
of grave violations of international humanitarian law in the territory of former Yugoslavia. This

Essay on Euclid
Euclid Of Alexandria may be the best known mathematician of the world, he is best known for
his work on mathematics The Elements. The fact that his work has survived so long, 2000 years
in fact, is a tribute to his mathematical genius, however very little of him is known. Three theories
abound as to the true nature of this historical figure. Not all historians agree that Euclid was in fact
a historical figure, some argue that the school in Alexandria took up the name Euclid to publish
their works. But the more accepted theories are that Euclid was in fact a real historical figure who
may have been the leader of a team of mathematicians.

Although Euclid (or the school) may have not been first proved by him, (in fact much of his work
may have been based upon earlier writings,) he did manage to insert assumptions and definitions of
his own to strengthen the various postulates into the form we know today.
The Elements begins with the five postulates and their definitions, these postulates prove or define
the existence of points, lines and circles and from there on go to define other aspects of geometry
based upon the simpler concepts. The Elements consists of thirteen books. Some assumptions are
not totally provable, such that there is only one straight line between two points. Euclid makes
some assumptions that make his form of mathematics, Euclidean Geometry, sometimes at odds
with other forms. His fifth postulate, states that only one line can be made through a point parallel
to a given line, eventually, sometime during the 19th century this postulate was dropped in an
attempt to study non Euclidean geometries.
Euclid s assumptions about his postulates have set the groundwork for geometry today. He
provided society with definitions of a circle, a point, and line, etc and for 2000 was considered the
father of geometry. His postulates proved to be a framework from which mathematics was able to
grow and evolve, from two thousand years ago, till Newton and even to all our classrooms today.

Feudalism In The Carolingian World
1.Central authority became non existent in the Carolingian world, opening up travelers who
were Muslim, Magyar, and Viking. This made a new type of relationship between free
individuals. Lords and vassals came up with feudalism; it was never a consistent structure. The
lords would give land to their vassals in return for the vassals promise to fight. Most of the army
had been foot soldiers until the Asians introduced the stirrup, and with that; knights were born and
they used coats of mail and lances. This was costly and lengthy because the men had to train.
Lords also had to give land to all of the vassals family, making land the most excellent gift a lord
could grant to his vassal. The pieces of land the lords gave out were called fiefs.... Show more

The revival of trade was very slow because trade had generally declined in Western Europe except
for Byzantium trading with Italy. More cities started trading again, with Venice becoming a huge
new trading city. Flanders was off the coast of modern day Belgium, and were known for their
well made woolen cloth. Many merchants from England, Germany, France and Scandinavia
started trading here. By the 12th century regular trade had been established between Italy and
Flanders. France traded champagne while northern merchants brought fur, wool, tin, and honey
from England. Cloth and swords came from Italy and silks, spices, and sugars came from the
East. Gold and silver came in and a new economy came into play. All of this was a part of
commercial capitalism, making people invest in trade to make a

Carnival In The Trinibean Carnival
Secondly, Trinidad has many renowned customs and traditions and prides itself for it carnival.
Lieutenant Roberts says Trinidadian Carnival is known world Wide and isn t only a party, but a
lot of history associated to it. In early celebration of the festival by the masses activities were
held over the three days preceding Ash Wednesday. However in the face of over sixty years of
criticism from the upper class about the low standard of Carnival and strong feelings expressed
about the desecration of the Sabbath. In 1943, the carnival on the street was restricted to the
Monday and Tuesday. Belize Similarly has adopted a time for celebration that attracts much
attention both nationally and internationally. This is our September Carnival Celebration. Belize s
carnival doesn t have such a unique history and has adopted many of its structure from the
Trinidadian carnival. This has included the recently introduced j ouvert which has been a part of the
Trinidadian Carnival from the onset. There was many notable differences that were noted such as
the judiciary body where colonial style courtrooms were replaced with modern infrastructures. In

My favorite constellation is the Pyxis due to its simplicity and how easy it is to spot and identify
it among other constellations. It lies in the Southern sky and is referred to as The Mariner s

At one time its stars were considered part of the ancient constellation of Argo Navis as the mast

Reasons For The Assassination Of John F. Kennedy
November 22, 1963; a date which will forever go down in history as one of the most life changing
events of America s past. On this day, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of
the United States, left America as a collective whole melancholy, enraged, speechless, lost, and,
quiet obviously, alarmed. While many believe that the assassinationof JFK occurred because of
multiple assassins, there is simply not enough hard evidence to prove that this idealistic conspiracy
is in fact the truth. Through a substantial amount of evidence and facts, it is proven that Lee Harvey

Toni Cade Bambara The Lesson Essay
The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara demonstrates a monumental piece that deems the financial
inequalities of the 1960s. African Americans began to initiate a more active role around the 1950s
to end discrimination in the United States. Bambara conveys this message through the perception
of a young girl name Sylvia. Sylvia states in The Lesson , She can run if she want to and even run
faster. But ain t nobody gonna beat me at nuthin (Bambara 6). This quote leads to the illusion that
young people need to change their course of action; in which Sylvia determines to not let anything
stop her. In the short story, Bambara uses economic prejudice through the theme of poverty and
wealth, the symbolism of the F.A.O Schwarz (Toy Store), and the style of her written work.
Economic prejudice through the theme of poverty and wealth stages a crucial impact during the
mid 1900 s. Many African Americans desire a new lease on life which ultimately causes numerous
southerners to migrate north. In volume 12 of Short Stories for Students, Jennifer Smith claims,

The Production Of Energy And Regulation Of Apoptosis Onset
Recessive Mutations in TWINKLE Cause Infantile Onset Spinal Cerebral Atrophy

Abstract
The production of energy and regulation of apoptosis onset are some of the key roles of
mitochondria in the cell. These two functions are related in such that malfunctions of the oxidative
phosphorylation process can lead to release of apoptosis inducing proteins. In order to function
properly, the mitochondria requires many proteins encoded in the nuclear genome. Some genetic
diseases such as IOSCA, manifest symptoms because of large scale apoptosis or atrophy in
specific tissues due to a nuclear encoded mutant protein. A recessive Y508C missense mutation in
C10orf2, a region of DNA encoding mtDNA helicase TWINKLE, manifests as IOSCA. These
individuals are homozygous, however a number of different heterozygous individuals with a
secondary mutation have been documented with distinct similar phenotypes are described as a
subclass of IOSCA. Homozygous individuals develop symptoms approximately by one year as a
result of atrophy of specific structures in the hindbrain, posterior spinal cord and sensory axons.
The additive atrophy over time manifests in progressively worse symptoms eventually leading most
affected individuals to become deaf, wheel chair bound, suffer spine and foot deformities and
eventually bouts of refractory epilepsy. Current treatment is merely symptomatic and not
preventative. As the

Ptsd And Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
PTSD or Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is a growing concern with our returning soldiers. As
technology is advancing, battles are becoming more and more gruesome. The scars from
defending your country are not only physical. Some scars may not be visible, but are even more
dangerous. The trauma imbedded in these men and women s heads will cause pain for them and
their entire family. The dictionary definition of PTSDis a serious condition that can develop after a

The events seen by these brave people are what cause the terrible side effects. PTSD can be
directly correlated to what is viewed during battle. Fellow soldiers and friends are being brutally
killed. It is expected with war, but it takes a toll on the fighters. Constantly seeing death and
serious injury can leave one scared. The everyday sights for people who serve over seas in places
like Iraq and Afghanistan greatly improve the chances of them having PTSD effects after returning
home. A study was performed on Iraq/Afghanistan soldiers to see the effects of PTSD and how
common it was in these certain employments. The three following questions were looked at as the
main focal points in the research:
(1) How do the rates of PTSD among all active duty enlisted personnel differ by service and
deployment location?
(2) How do deployment location and length of deployment affect the probability of being diagnosed
with PTSD?
(3) Is there an interactive effect between a deployment s length and location? (Shen, Arkes, Kwan,
Tan, Williams, 2010). Previous studies have failed to see the comparison between PTSD rates and
the different services of employment. The research focused on active solders and the duration of
their specific enlistments. Two wars were the focal points of studies, which include Iraq and
Afghanistan. Said by Shen et al. (2010) Recent research suggests that the wars in Afghanistan and

Policy Making Analysis
The first three chapters of the Introduction to the Policy Process talks about how our society
makes policy and how different events in the country s history can have drastic effects on policy,
and how these different kinds of policy s can have an effect on the American people as well. In this
country policymaking has been there from the start after the signing of the Declaration of
Independence and our separation from Great Britain. The readings mention what policy is and its
purpose in our governmentand the population at large, why policy making is important to study, the
elements of the policy making system, the different environments that can affect policy, and the

One thing that the readings mentions that when we look at the policy making process, we should
look at the separation of powers. The separation of powers in our government, is the balance that
was put in place so that no branch has too much power, and that each branch can override a
decision, that one branch makes when it comes to policy. The three branches are the executive
branch, which deals with the president, the legislative branch which deals with the House of
Representatives and the Senate, and the Judicial Branch, which deals with the Supreme Court.
Each branch has a separate job to do, and can influence policy in different ways. For example, the
Supreme Court had overruled a policy that had said that schools could separate kids due to the
color of the skin. The Famous court case of Brown v. Board of Education changed this policy
and allowed kids to go to the same school, regardless of the color of their skin. Many people
across the country knew that the separate schools policy was wrong and the government did
nothing to change it for many years. The court case changed this and overruled a policy that had
been put in place many years ago and created a new policy in its

Our beauty standards take longer and harder efforts to achieve than a male. Based off personal

I described in depth how materialism, low self esteem, societies interests, gender roles, women s

take years to change. However, our society may need it at some point if we continue to let

ensure treatments are found for the ones suffering from it. My research will probably not change

The Problem Of Juvenile Delinquency
Stephanie R. Hawkins, Philip w. Graham, Jason Williams, and Margaret A. Zahn provide us with a
cornucopia of information pertaining to Resilient Girls on the Girls Study Group. In the year 2004
girls made up thirty percent of all juvenile arrest. However, the question still remains whether it is
an increase in juvenile delinquencyor society s response to girl s behavior. In order to find out the
answers to these questions the office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency prevention created the
Girls Study Group. To fight the statistics and improve the lives of girls in danger of juvenile
delinquency.
Resiliency is the power to be able to deal with a tremendous amount of stress and negative
situations. Resiliency plays key role in the prevention and intervention of programs out there.
Scientists to this day still have not figured out why some kids may be resilient and not others. In
the end certain factors may or may not have the same impact on others concerning gender. This
reading provides you with some Intel that has been discovered in research to suggest why some
girls may be protected from delinquency.
Resiliency is best defined as human s ability to be able to adapt and learn in a negative atmosphere.
Situations that they might survive may be being abused or neglected, witnessing violence, or living
in poverty that could in the end lead them a life in delinquency. The majority of research today,
focuses on the negative factors that contributed to making people

Freedom in Mark Twain s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Nothing is more important in the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer than freedom. Freedom
plays an enormous role in the book Tom Sawyer. Whether it is people earning freedom or people
not being granted it, every young boy in St. Petersburg wanted some form of freedom. The word
freedom means the power to say and do what you want. Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Joe
Harper are all boys seeking freedom. Freedom is the key reason the boys run away to Jackson
Island. Freedom is one of the main themes in the book.
Tom is always looking for ways to earn freedom. One of the main plots in the story is Tom s quest
for freedom. Freedom gives Tom a sense of accomplishment after he finishes a deed or task.

If Tom did not have freedom the book would not be nearly as interesting.
Cardiff Hill is the one of the boy s symbols of freedom. Cardiff Hill is a lush, green hill that the
boys can escape to and do what ever they want primarily relax. Tom is involuntarily obligated to
do his chores and to be well behaved. One time Tom was feeling so stressed he ran off to Cardiff
Hill instead of going to school. This is a big part of the story because it is when Tom dreams of
becoming a pirate, and also when some of his superstitions are introduced. In the book, Tom usually
takes his freedom whether he has earned It or not.
One of the other main characters in the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn,
has freedom pretty much by default. He never had a mother that cared for him and his father is
the town drunkard thus he is an orphan. He thinks life is too based on how you look, act, and
how civilized you are. At one point in the story, the Widow Douglass takes in Huck Finn. The
widow tries to transform him into a civilized person but in the end his old ways reappear and it is
too much for him. He doesn t have to go to school, do chores, or do any form of work. His life fits
perfectly into the definition of freedom.
This Mississippi River resembles the type of lifestyle all the kids in St. Petersburg would like to
live. The Mississippi River runs slowly, freely, and relaxed just like how all the boys would like to
describe their lives.

The Birth, Life, And Resurrection Of Swing
The Birth, Life, and Resurrection of Swing
The recent increase in attention to Swing dancing has brought along a sense of nostalgia with it.
This pleasant dance movement is largely fueled in part by the images of what would be today s
youth grandparents time, which have been passed down. The reality of Swing though was that the
true Swing Era of 1935 to 1945 occurred during a time unrest, and was filled with racial tension,
war, poverty, adolescent unrest, and gender discrimination. In fact, the era of Swing encompasses
two of the most historical events of the century for the United States, the Great Depression from
1929 1939, and World War II from 1939 1945. While Swing musicis known for having its happy up
beat rhythms, and light moods, it cannot be said that the music does not encompass the heaviness
of the social, political, and economic undercurrents of its time.
The term Swing was originally coined not for the dance, but for the music. Swing music was born
during the Great Depression, while many bands had been experimenting during the early Roaring
Twenties it was suggested that the ...summer of 1929 began the journey toward the summer of
1935 and the official arrival of the Swing Era (Hennessey, 123). While the Great Depression was a

Who or what is the first thing that comes to mind when the word whiskey is mentioned? Jack
Daniel s or a fun Saturday night out? Perhaps, but most likely not the Whiskey Rebellion of
1791. This Rebellion resulted from the passage by Congress of an excise tax to be applied to

Rebellion ended when President Washington sent close to 13,000 soldiers to the relatively small

The Republicans, led by Jefferson and Madison, were supporters of States rights. They believed that
the American Revolution occurred to free America from British control and allow the creation of
a country led by self governing people. The Federalists, led by Washington and Hamilton, agreed
that the American Revolution took place to free America, but asserted that the newly freed needed
a strong central government to provide guidance. THe debate that occurred over Hamilton s
proposed assumption plan is another prime example of the seat of power dispute. Hamilton
proposed the national government to assume all the states debt incurred from the American
Revolution. Hamilton regarded the national debt as a national blessing, for it permitted the
clustering of resources in the hands of a small group of enterprising men who would invest and
not just spend it. (Page 64) Madison believed this plan to be unfair to the states, mostly southern,
that had already paid back large sums of their respective debts. The assumption proposal therefore
did them an injustice, by compelling them, after having done their duty, to contribute to those states
who have not equally done their duty. (Page 57) The resulting Assumption Bill that was approved
by Congress was a compromise that provided the Republicans the assurance of fairly distributed
debt and the Federals a source of

Evaluate and Examine the Four Qualitative Characteristics...
One of the most significant purposes of General Purpose Financial Reports is providing useful and

Understandability, Relevance, Reliability and Comparability are set out in the conceptual

Finally, comparability requires the accounting information should be compared with each other.
There are two important aspects to illustrate it. On the one hand, compare aspects of an entity at
one time and over time. The entity is asked to adopt the same accounting policy unless some special
situation. The comparability quality characteristic can help financial report users comprehend the
financial condition, opening result and the trend of cash flow easily, and then compare the
information during different period. On the other hand, compare with different entities in the same
accounting period. In order to help analyzing financial condition and other alteration circumstances
of different business easily, the comparability principle require different business adopt the same
accounting principle about the same or similar transactions in the same accounting period. Today,
comparability is becoming one of the most indispensable and advantageous qualitative
characteristics of accounting information (Putra, 2009). Although the four qualitative characteristics
are the most important link between the accounting objectives and achieving the objectives, there
are also some elements restrict them. To begin with, accounting information has dubious quality
itself, which affects the understandability.

Chinese Culture And Pain Perception
Chinese Culture and Pain Perception

Vancouver Career College
Chinese Culture and Pain Perception The purpose of this paper is to explore the effects of the
Chinese culture on pain perception, responses and management. Cultural backgrounds can have a
significant role in how a person perceives and copes with their pain, many studies have identified
the vast difference between cultures. Culture shapes many aspects of the experience of pain,
including pain expression, lay remedies, social roles, expectations, perceptions of the medical
system, when/how/where to seek care, healthcare practices, illness beliefs and behaviors, and
receptivity to medical care interventions (Campbell, 2012)
Describe different natures of pain (physical, emotional)

perception of pain has important affective (emotional), cognitive, behavioral, and sensory
components that are shaped by past experience, culture, and situational factors. The nature of the
stimulus for pain can be physical, psychological, or a combination of both. (Potter, Perry, Stockert,
Hall, Peterson, 2014 p. 141) As stated by Potter et al, the different natures of pain are dealt with

Underrepresented School Counselors
Do School Counselors Impact Whether Underrepresented Student are College or Career Ready?
ASCA, the American School Counseling Association, is the foremost association that provides
researched components and foundations that detail how an effective school counseling program
should be established and maintained (ASCA, 2012). The organization was founded in 1952, and
established the ASCA: Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) in 2003. The ASCA model is
broken down into four components: 1. Foundation, 2. Delivery, 3. Management, 4. Accountability.
Within the ASCA model Foundation component there are three domains. The Mindsets and
Behaviors component is where college/career readiness is outlined. The ASCA (2012) model

all (2010) as an instrument that is a web based application that provides critical data (student scores)
on a school or district s current college readiness practices, and examines annual progress indicators
on those practices. The School Diagnostic includes a series of surveys for teachers, administrators,
counselors, and students. This diagnostic tool measures and assesses the students on 1,100 different
items that come from the following dimensions: Academic, Contextual Skills, Key Cognitive
Strategies, and Key Content Strategies. A study conducted by Lombardi, Conley, Seburn, and
Downs (2012) found the CCRD tool was extremely helpful to administration and other school staff
members in deciphering if first generation, or underrepresented, students were college/career ready.
This assessment will be taken by the students at each school at the beginning of their junior year of
high school, beginning of their senior year, and at the end of their senior year. These three scores
on each assessment, will allow the researcher the ability to compare data points over an extended
period of time, to ascertain if a school counseling program has a substantial impact on

The Expansion Of The Antebellum Period
Prior to the Antebellum Period, the United States began to expand its influence to the Midwest.
Although there were conflicts regarding the state of slavery, the expansion of land helped the
people of America attain cheaper and larger plots of land out west. Due to the fact that more land
was available within the United States, immigrants had the desire to emigrate to America and
establish new ways of life. Since both the Irish and the Germans brought their own ideologies with
them, conflicts arose with them and the Americans, which made the American s fear change. Along
with immigrants came the European Romantic Movement. This movement emphasized the ideas of
man s perfection and the metaphysical and spiritual side of humans. Although, during the
Antebellum Period, the American s fear of change led to reforms involving the immigration of
others and, ultimately, the Second Great Awakening, but the Romantic Movement, brought from
Europe by the said immigrants, also led to reforms such as abolitionism and feminism within
American society. With the immigration of Europeans, primarily the Irish, came conflicting views
that created tension within the United States and caused Americans to fear change and reform their
society. Due to these tensions, a new ideology, nativism, became popular. Nativism, an anti
immigration ideology, emphasized the idea that immigrants were only liked for their ability to
serve and listen to what their priests told them to. Also, nativism stated

My Experience With My Own Life
There are personalities that come naturally, but many are nurtured through experiences one has.
Through my own life experiences from what I consider a decent, normal childhood into now a
happy grown adult. Many of my personalities have remained the same while other parts have
changed as has life changed especially since becoming a mother. Now, the experiences and
personalities I ll further describe are from my viewpoint and if you ask my friends or family
members their opinions it may change slightly. As a viewpoint is only depicted from the person
who is describing it and their perception of how the events or things occurred.
When I think of personalities that remained the same throughout my life span of 31 years thus
far. As far back as I can remember knowing I have had a positive outlook on life where I always
found the good in something no matter how bad the situation was and consider it my most prized
part of my personality. As a child, my parents got divorced at age 10 and I saw the emotional toll it
took on my little my brother not to see him every day. He was only age 8 at the time and him who
adored my father as a role model and he was able to keep in contact with my father. Where with
me my father wanted nothing to do it with me. I use to think each time he called to speak with
my brother and not me instead of being sad or angry, I would remember now my mother is
happier and I have more time with her and she was always the fun one who did all the vacations
and did

While the blood that is shed is a tangible reminder of the outcomes of misused power, it also serves as an image that provokes Macbeth to reflect upon his deeds, even if he does not change his behavior. Macbethbecomes obsessed with the blood on his hands. Unfortunately, this reminder of his guilt does not prevent him from continuing violent acts. Marshall Mc Luhan. Macbeth, one of the most intriguing tragedies by Shakespeare, has an extensive use of imagery throughout the play. Hence, they escape from Scotland, Malcolm goes to England, and Donaldbain seeks refuge in Ireland. Post Banquo s murder, the references to blood increase even further, with quotes like, don t shake thy gory locks at me becoming all the more common. The murderers, whom Macbeth had hired to kill Banquo, describe his body lying in a ditch with twenty trenched gashes on his head . The imagery of blood is shown in such a way that there is a profuse amount of blood flowing after every murder in the play. These references to blood observe their peak with Lady Macbeth s imagined blood and the battlefield which form a crescendo to conglomerate all the murders performed in the play. Out damned spot. Out, I say! One two! a passing reference is also made by the second apparition to Macbeth, be bloody, bold and resolute . Because blood forms the prologue and epilogue of every murder in the play, it sets the ball rolling for the wave of action in the play. The fact that blood imagery predominates in the play gives the play a tinge of horror. It will have blood, they say. The value of objective and subjective evidence in understanding mental health conditions It is important to consider both subjective and objective evidences to gain a comprehensive picture of any mental health condition. Subjective evidence is how the patient interprets the working of his own mind. A patient suffering from depression for example might report symptoms of having dark thoughts, feeling blue, can complain of persistent low mood, outbursts of crying, decreased appetite and activity levels, lack of sleep. These are all examples of subjective evidence. Objective evidence about the condition includes any signs noticeable to the clinician that can be taken as an indication of mental disease. This can include slumped posture, poor hygiene, scruffy appearance, sadness, crying, sighing or pacing. Lack of appetite can be a symptom a depressed person is complaining about, while the amount of weight loss is measurable and objective. • 8. Definition Of Sanctity Of Human Life Definition: Sanctity of human life refers to the fact that human life, due to the fact that humans are created in the image of God and share His likeness, is valued over the lives of plants and animals. Unlike plants and animals, God blessed us with the ability to experience and convey emotion. Humans also can be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ or condemned to hell if they choose not to accept Christ. Man is the only being created in the image of God, therefore having the aforementioned blessings of emotion and salvation, making man so much more important. When people ignore this fundamental and necessary sanctity of life, terrible things like abortion and mass shootings occur. History: A biblical example of a violation of the sanctity of human life is in Genesis 4, the story of Cain and Abel. Cain violated the sanctity of human life and killed his own brother simply because Abel s sacrifice was accepted by God, but Cain s was not. Cain did not give his best to God in the offering, but instead of dealing with his own shortcomings with God, he murdered his brother out of anger and jealousy. By not fixing his own heart issue, he committed a vile sin that would forever shape his own life and the life of his descendents. There are many modern examples of this disregard for the value of life, such as: abortion, mass shootings, suicides, and suicide bombers. • 10. Witchcraft Trials And The Salem Witch Trials The Salem witchcraft trials took place in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. The news of witches began to spread in Salem when a group of young girls gathered together in the kitchen of the Reverend Samuel Parris with his Indian slave named Tituba to experiment with witchcraft. After these young girls began to portray unusual behavior the village doctor came to the scene and diagnosed the girls to be possessed by the devil. The news of the presence of witches spread throughout Salem like a craze and lead to a series of accusations and turmoil. The Salem witchcraft trials were a collection of trials, hearings, accusations, imprisonments, and executions that sought to get rid of the influence of witchcraft from the Salem population. The vast majority of people who were accused of being witches were mostly women. These accusations had more to do with the social status of these women rather than to seek to understand them. The first hanging began with the death of Bridget Bishop in June and continued until September. The Salem witchcraft trials included an example of scapegoating because Puritans feared that the devil was continuously looking for ways to test their faith. Today the term witch has been used in films, books, and in pop culture. In the seventieth century, an example of a person who was considered a witch was generally someone who appeared to be involved with the devil by portraying unexplainable behavior. Although Euclid (or the school) may have not been first proved by him, (in fact much of his work may have been based upon earlier writings,) he did manage to insert assumptions and definitions of his own to strengthen the various postulates into the form we know today. The Elements begins with the five postulates and their definitions, these postulates prove or define the existence of points, lines and circles and from there on go to define other aspects of geometry based upon the simpler concepts. The Elements consists of thirteen books. Some assumptions are not totally provable, such that there is only one straight line between two points. Euclid makes some assumptions that make his form of mathematics, Euclidean Geometry, sometimes at odds with other forms. His fifth postulate, states that only one line can be made through a point parallel to a given line, eventually, sometime during the 19th century this postulate was dropped in an attempt to study non Euclidean geometries. Euclid s assumptions about his postulates have set the groundwork for geometry today. He provided society with definitions of a circle, a point, and line, etc and for 2000 was considered the father of geometry. On this day, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, left America as a collective whole melancholy, enraged, speechless, lost, and, quiet obviously, alarmed. While many believe that the assassinationof JFK occurred because of multiple assassins, there is simply not enough hard evidence to prove that this idealistic conspiracy is in fact the truth. • 27. Toni Cade Bambara The Lesson Essay The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara demonstrates a monumental piece that deems the financial inequalities of the 1960s. African Americans began to initiate a more active role around the 1950s to end discrimination in the United States. Bambara conveys this message through the perception of a young girl name Sylvia. Sylvia states in The Lesson , She can run if she want to and even run faster. But ain t nobody gonna beat me at nuthin (Bambara 6). This quote leads to the illusion that young people need to change their course of action; in which Sylvia determines to not let anything stop her. In the short story, Bambara uses economic prejudice through the theme of poverty and wealth, the symbolism of the F.A.O Schwarz (Toy Store), and the style of her written work. Economic prejudice through the theme of poverty and wealth stages a crucial impact during the mid 1900 s. Many African Americans desire a new lease on life which ultimately causes numerous southerners to migrate north. The Production Of Energy And Regulation Of Apoptosis Onset Recessive Mutations in TWINKLE Cause Infantile Onset Spinal Cerebral Atrophy Biology 2B03 November 23, 2014 Arthur Patterson Student Number: 1300982 Abstract The production of energy and regulation of apoptosis onset are some of the key roles of mitochondria in the cell. These two functions are related in such that malfunctions of the oxidative phosphorylation process can lead to release of apoptosis inducing proteins. In order to function properly, the mitochondria requires many proteins encoded in the nuclear genome. Some genetic diseases such as IOSCA, manifest symptoms because of large scale apoptosis or atrophy in specific tissues due to a nuclear encoded mutant protein. A recessive Y508C missense mutation in C10orf2, a region of DNA encoding mtDNA helicase TWINKLE, manifests as IOSCA. These individuals are homozygous, however a number of different heterozygous individuals with a secondary mutation have been documented with distinct similar phenotypes are described as a subclass of IOSCA. Homozygous individuals develop symptoms approximately by one year as a result of atrophy of specific structures in the hindbrain, posterior spinal cord and sensory axons. The additive atrophy over time manifests in progressively worse symptoms eventually leading most affected individuals to become deaf, wheel chair bound, suffer spine and foot deformities and eventually bouts of refractory epilepsy. Current treatment is merely symptomatic and not preventative. As the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The everyday sights for people who serve over seas in places like Iraq and Afghanistan greatly improve the chances of them having PTSD effects after returning home. A study was performed on Iraq/Afghanistan soldiers to see the effects of PTSD and how common it was in these certain employments. The three following questions were looked at as the main focal points in the research: (1) How do the rates of PTSD among all active duty enlisted personnel differ by service and deployment location? (2) How do deployment location and length of deployment affect the probability of being diagnosed with PTSD? (3) Is there an interactive effect between a deployment s length and location? (Shen, Arkes, Kwan, Tan, Williams, 2010). Previous studies have failed to see the comparison between PTSD rates and the different services of employment. The separation of powers in our government, is the balance that was put in place so that no branch has too much power, and that each branch can override a decision, that one branch makes when it comes to policy. The three branches are the executive branch, which deals with the president, the legislative branch which deals with the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the Judicial Branch, which deals with the Supreme Court. Each branch has a separate job to do, and can influence policy in different ways. For example, the Supreme Court had overruled a policy that had said that schools could separate kids due to the color of the skin. The Famous court case of Brown v. This pleasant dance movement is largely fueled in part by the images of what would be today s youth grandparents time, which have been passed down. The reality of Swing though was that the true Swing Era of 1935 to 1945 occurred during a time unrest, and was filled with racial tension, war, poverty, adolescent unrest, and gender discrimination. While Swing musicis known for having its happy up beat rhythms, and light moods, it cannot be said that the music does not encompass the heaviness of the social, political, and economic undercurrents of its time. The Federalists, led by Washington and Hamilton, agreed that the American Revolution took place to free America, but asserted that the newly freed needed a strong central government to provide guidance. THe debate that occurred over Hamilton s proposed assumption plan is another prime example of the seat of power dispute. Hamilton proposed the national government to assume all the states debt incurred from the American Revolution. Hamilton regarded the national debt as a national blessing, for it permitted the clustering of resources in the hands of a small group of enterprising men who would invest and not just spend it. (Page 64) Madison believed this plan to be unfair to the states, mostly southern, that had already paid back large sums of their respective debts. The assumption proposal therefore did them an injustice, by compelling them, after having done their duty, to contribute to those states who have not equally done their duty.
