Examples Of Caricatures In A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Caricatures
Writers have always set out to create realistic characters. Some have succeeded in creating
characters with unique goals and personalities while others fail to truly optimize the potential of
their characters and instead have relied on some discernible caricatures. For example, from A Tale
of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, written in 1858 to Crash, released in 2005, characters have
been praised for their originality and criticized for being stereotypical and bland. However while
some characters may appear to be caricatures, both Dickens and Haggis were constrained by time
and societies explanation, forcing them to rely on some caricatures to make the story more
accessible. Both Dickens and Robert Haggis show their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Manette chooses to speak up, but the Evremonde brothers subdue him and lock him in the
Bastille. In there, Dr. Manette s enmity for the Evremondes continues to grow where he
denounces the Evremonde brothers and the rest the Evremonde bloodline until they die out. As
the revolution continues to grow, Dr. Manette s is finally given an opportunity to end the
Evremonde bloodline. The bloodthirsty mob of the rebellion storms La Force, where Charles
Evremonde is currently held. The mob detests anyone that had any remote connection to the
French Aristocracy and would gladly murder him. Had Dr. Manette not used his influence as a
Bastille survivor, Charles would ve been gored on the street. Despite his hatred for the
Evremonde family, Dr. Manette forgoes his past to save the husband of one very dear to him.
Finally, Dr. Manette is able to move on from the years of hatred in the Bastille, and he personally
vouches for the Evremonde at his trial. Ultimately, Dr. Manette ceases to hold the Evremonde
bloodline responsible for the heinous actions committed and had instead worked tirelessly to save
his son in law. Through Dr. Manette, Dickens portrays a character that not only complete
contradicts his initial caricature of a vengeful prisoner but also grows into someone willing to
forgive someone who had wronged him.
Despite such a strong lead character, where Dickens fell flat, especially for modern readers, was
with his female characters, such as Lucie Manette. When we are

Controlling Cell Fate in Zebrafish
Over the past years, there have been many conflicting views over weather or not rest has an effect
on controlling cell fate. There has been previous studies that have indicated that the rest gene
influences gene expression. Researchers at the State University of New York at Stony Brook have
taken it upon themselves to determine if it is in fact true. By using methods like zinc finger
nuclease and quantitative PCR, they were able to find reliable evidence that: rest in zebrafish does
have an influencing affect on neural specific geneexpression but it fails to have many significant
effects on zebrafish neurogenesis. First of all, lets look at why exactly scientists choose to work on
zebrafish.
Zebrafish was chosen by George Streisinger who was looking for a vertebrae model system to do
work on genetics. It would appear that zebrasfish have some qualities that particularly makes them
an exceptional choice for study. They are easy to maintain, manipulate (ability to microinject DNA,
RNA and proteins into) and have many offspring rather rapidly. Another really interesting quality of
zebrafish is that in the first few days of embryonic development, embryons are transparent, which
allows imaging of cell movement and gene expression. Embryos also develop rather quickly;
therefore scientists could do testing sooner then would be capable if mammals were used. Now
lets look at what exactly is the rest protein. From what research has determined previously, we
believe the rest

Blanche Vs Stanley
In Streetcar Named Desire, I viewed Blanche as the protagonist and Stanley as the antagonist.
Williams described Blanche as a demonic creature; the size of her feeling was too great for her
to contain (1113). Blanche is the protagonist in the play and I think this because she is the main
character throughout the play. She is trying to get her life straightened out after a couple of
things going wrong lately in her life. She is hoping to be able to live with her sister and brother
in law for a little while until she can get back onto her feet. I saw in the play how she was hurt by
everyone around her, but mainly Stanley. The play is focusing on her dream to marry and be
taken care of. But she did not want to be taken care of by Stella and... Show more content on

Blanche tries in scene ten to stand up to him, yet she unfortunately fails to do that. She becomes
weak and he takes advantage of her. She states in scene ten, Help Me! Caught in a trap (1170).
She is unable to get away from his presence and ends up having to give in to his desire.
Throughout the play I felt that Stanley was always up to something. He was a violent character
in the play and was an enemy to Blanche who was the protagonist. In the play Stanley may sound
like he is big and strong, he is actually on the defensive. He would not have felt like he had to
deal with Blanche if she would not have come live with him and Stella. He resented Blanche
because of her actions of trying to turn Stella against Stanley. An example of Stanley being the
antagonist is when he hits Stella and when he rapes Blanche is another example. I think that
Stanley wants to see Blanche break and see her fail. In the play Stanley treats Blanche with
disrespect and brings her down whenever he gets the chance. The rising hatred between the two
characters happens in scene ten, when Stanley expresses his rage by raping Blanche, saying, We ve
had this date with each other from the beginning (Levine 1171). Blanche does not help the situation
between herself and Stanley because she chooses to continue to aggravate him. I think Stanley
raped Blanche because he wanted to force her out of his home. She calls him

Pathway To Citizenship
If it were up to you, and you had the choice whether or not to give undocumented citizens a chance
at citizenship, would you? Many people believe that they should not have a chance at citizenship
because they came here illegally. Every person has their own opinion on this topic. This debate is
one of many debates going on in between the candidates or even the politicians, but of course they
all have their own views and reasons on it. Everyone should consider that they should because either
we are hurting families or they can help improve our economy. In the next three paragraphs this
argument will be influencing you to side with my claim, that undocumented citizens should get a
pathway to citizenship.
One important reason that undocumented residents should be allowed a pathway to citizenship is
that many of them have american ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not just in money but in resources, we use more resources to deport or capture undocumented
citizens than we can really afford. According to Senator Schumer, Upfront magazine 2016, Without
reform, our immigration laws threaten to tear apart families and force our government to expend
precious resources to deport millions. What Senator Schumer is making clear is that the
government is spending too much money on resources to deport undocumented citizens when
instead they could find a way to make some if not all undocumented citizens a path to citizenship.
Some people might argue that if undocumented citizens cooperated with the law or government
there wouldn t be an issue. This might be true but maybe if the government didn t assume that all
undocumented citizens are criminals and deport them instead of giving them a chance at
citizenship, there would also be no issue. The key point is that instead of focusing on kicking
undocumented citizens out, we should be focusing on making it possible for them to stay as legal

The Military Coup In Honduras
The military coup was launched by the country s handful of ultra wealthy families who control
most of the nation s economy. Thousands of Hondurans protested the coup, but they were
physically beaten by the Honduran military. It was an indicative onset as the coup launched a
dramatic shift towards brutal fascism under the Pepe Lobo administration. Honduras had a serious
problem with violence and corruption long before Lobo took over, but his response made the
problems much worse by militarizing the police force. The former Police Commissioner MarГa
Luisa Borjas admitted, It s scarier to meet up with five police officers on the streets than five gang
members. Mind you, Honduras has by far highest murder rate in the world with gang violence...

Thus, the human rights record of the HernГЎndez administration has been even worse than Lobo s.
As a result, politically motivated violence has seemingly increased. In fact, the former leader of a
Honduran police death squad and SOA graduate, Juan Carlos El Tigre Bonilla, was hired as the
national police chief. With Bonilla at the helm, the Associated Press reported in 2013 about roughly
150 murders by state sponsored death squads in the capital city alone with more in the surrounding
areas. It has been made clear to the State Department that no units under General Bonilla s control
should receive U.S. assistance without credible information refuting the serious allegations against
him, said Sen. Patrick Leahy (D VT). Yet, the Obama administration has supported the HernГЎndez
administration and offered further economic assistance to Honduras. This is an obvious unspoken
message to the rest of the world, particularly Latin America. The U.S. will support your regime as

Starship Troopers Chapter Summary
Chris Ahmed Starship Troopers The story is set in a galactic battle between the Terran Federation
and the Bugs of Klendathu. This first person narrative is about Juan Johnnie Rico who joins the
Mobile Infantry straight out of school, despite his parents wishes to attend Havard and take over the
family business. He starts out as a recruit, with an original intent of joining up with a close friend,
working through the ranks with much ambition, eventually obtaining the status of non
commissioned officer and then on to a successful officer commanding his own platoon. Rico s
military career takes place mainly with the platoon he starts with, Rasczak s Roughnecks, on the
corvette Rodger Young. Rico meets a lot of individuals along his journey,... Show more content on

The most notable of the technological innovations are the powered armor suits which are used
by the Mobile Infantry. Rico refers to them as turning the average man into the size of a gorilla.
These exoskeletons are a complete self contained personal environment that augments every
ability a man has. Strength, speed, weight carrying capacity, jumping ability with jets and rocket
boosts, night vision, radar, radios, a HUD (heads up display) controlled by mouth movements
and improved hearing turned the average soldier into a super human. These suits were
incredibly expensive and took hundreds of man hours to check over to ensure they are battle
ready, which was done before every drop. Space travel was a normal occurrence in universe that
this novel holds. Women were mainly ship pilots as they had higher calculation skills than men
to handle the quick deploys and maneuvers through the battlefield and space. These ships use a
special space travel technology called Cherenkov Drive which allows them to travel thousands
of light years in just a few hours. All military drop ships contain drop containers which the
Mobile Infantry uses to deploy themselves to a battlefield. They are a small capsule just big
enough to fit a soldier and their exoskeleton that drops straight out of a ship at a high atmospheric
level. As the capsule heats up from the speed and height it is released from, it breaks into pieces
eventually leaving the soldier in freefall at the right height to make a safe landing. The military
also makes use of special humans that, in a simplest explanation, have super powers. Once dropped
onto a battlefield, these individuals can sense and map out a whole underground city and its tunnels
of Bugs in just a few moments using their hearing. It can t be done during the middle of a battle due
to intense concentration they need, so they are used during

Canagarajah Analysis
There are a couple of authors that I agree with. I first would like to share why Canagarajah is the
author who I mostly agree with before the other one. Her intention to write her statement was to
have both evangelicals and non evangelicals dialogue in the TESOL field. She mentioned that post
positivist scholars are tired of being stereotyped. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because
they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what
other authors did not. On her statement she did not lean to one particular side, Christian or non
Christian. Instead, she politely exposed both sides on the plate. She asked a number of questions to
why do Christians hinder and do not attend non Christian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Dignity Of Human Life Essay
David Swenson, who was born in Sweden and was a professor of University of Minnesota. He is
well known to the public for his publication of the article called The Dignity of Human Life ,
which was originally published in 1949 and currently still could be found in many philosophy
books (Klemke, 2008). The article of The dignity of Humanlife contains several different valuable
ideas of the subject to human life and also includes some great conclusions at the final. One of
David s conclusion is that people besides learning and acquiring practical skills from the formal
education or training. People also need something more than the practical skills, which is
something of a different nature and it is something someone concludes self. Swenson states that
youth requires developing a view of life in order to become a good person in moral and
developed personalities. The view of life is not acquired through training and learning provided
by general means of formal education or experience, but is obtained individually through
thinking over someone s life, self exploring and subjective conviction. The reason for developing
such view of life is that view of life is the mean of giving one s life. it is a principle of living, a
spirit and an attitude capable of maintaining its unity and identity with itself in all of life s
complexities and varying vicissitudes. Said by Swenson. It is the sense, dignity and worth.
Otherwise, a life cannot be considered to be as living in a human

The Progressive Republican Views Of The State After World...
Born in Los Angeles, California on March 19,1891, raised in Bakersfield, California and attended
UC Berkley this California native would be the Progressive Republican who reshapes many
aspects of California in his three terms as Governor. Being modest and a realist, were key
components in Earl Warren s success. Although many may have disagreed with Earl Warren
s
leadership, he made profound impacts on Californiaby shaping the state after World War II, taking
on controversial issues and bringing lasting changes to California.
The profound impacts he made on shaping California after World War II begun during his time as
California s Attorney General and continued with him into his Governorship. With World War II
ending California would continue to experience an unpredictable expansion socially, economically,
and also set a proactive state government which was led by the Governor during this time of
change. Since California was experiencing a time of expansion, re shaping its post war economy
and continuing thriving programs were crucial. California Progressivism was key behind all of
these movements which ultimately shifted California s role in the nation and gave the sense that
the war was a defining moment in the state s history. A new economy allowed for many of the state
s original industries helped in the post war growth. These industries established themselves during
the war unlike other industries throughout the country, and by doing so helped the state more post

The Disaster Recovery Plan And A Business Continuity Plan
Compared and contrasted business continuity plans with disaster recovery plans
A disaster recovery plan and a business continuity plan, are very important to all business and
their marketing plan. These plans provide detail strategies on how the business will continue to
operate, before, doing and after a disaster. About 25% of business that do not have these plans and
are hit by a disaster, fail to reopen. (Smith, n.d.). This is why a disaster and recovery and business
continuity plan are important to a business if they wish to withstand a disaster and reopen with
little or no problem.
The Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) provides comprehensive strategy on the actions that employees
should follow doing and after a disaster. The plan should provide exit procedures, the online
communication instructions to make sure that all employees are accounted for and the main
communication and rally point, with the central hub. The hub should carry emergency supplies,
backup information, flashlights and other important items need for the safety of the business,
employees and their customers.
The Business Continuity Plan (BCP) enhances the DRP a few step further. It outlines how the
business will ran and managed after the disaster. It should outline how the business should continue
after a small disaster event, like a power outage to a major problem like a major storm that might
last a few days. Within the outline it should there should be information as to where the business
will operate,

development boom in its entire history. Where there had been farmhouses or vacant lots,
builders added Spanish style courtyards and apartments with arched windows and red tiled roofs

The Importance Of Starting At A Young Age
Starting at a young age. Even before I started 1st grade. I was a pretty smart kid. My grandma
would show me math problems and I would answer them. She d make me read for a few minutes
a day. Learning came easy to me at a young age. So starting first grade when I was six years old,
it was a cake walk. A+ s in every class. I d always finish my homework in the morning before I
went to school. School was so natural to me. Starting second grade, it was just as easy. Again, I
was going through school like it was nothing. On and on through fifth grade, school was easy and I
didn t need to put any effort into it. I would wake up every morning, do my homework then walk to
school. I got comfortable putting no effort into school but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

about showing my work. At that time, I didn t really understand that it was just helping me
understand what I was doing. I passed that class understanding most of what we were taught that
year. I couldn t believe it. I realized the more work I put in for school. The better I m going to do in
school. So I think I just found the key to school but I didn t quite put all of the pieces together with
that skill. Walking into eighth grade year, I knew what I was going to have to do. Put as much
work in as possible to become successful. I was fortunate to have Mr.Adams for the second year in
a row. This year for algebra (l). All the work I did the year before truly benefited me in the best way
possible. Just like my seventh grade year, and even more my eighth grade year. I put a crap ton of
work in. In every single class. I started to get my grades back from my elementary days! Then it
finally hit me like a 50,000 wrecking ball, I could use this skill that I developed from Mr. Adams in
my everyday life! It all came together. I was and still am a huge fan of basketball.

Introduction
Membranes contain phospholipid bilayer these are two layers of phospholipids which are facing
in opposite directions to each other. The non polar tails are hydrophobic which are water hating,
what makes it difficult for polar molecules/ions to pass through them are the fatty acid tails which
also act as a barrier to water soluble substances. These molecules move in and out of the cell by
diffusion, osmosis and active transport. Diffusion is the net movement of particles down a
concentration gradient for example when gases move about and will move from where there is a
high concentration to where they are in lower concentration. By osmosis, the diffusion of water
through the plasma membrane is possible because the lipids bilayers are water resistant to
important molecules and small molecules like oxygen and carbon dioxide, these molecules and
ions diffuse freely across the cell membrane. By active transport, ions and molecules are forced
using metabolic energy to move against their concentrated gradient. ... Show more content on

to a reduced stability of the membrane.

Individuality In The Giver
The theme conveyed through the Giver is that individuality should be valued. The story takes
place in a utopian society where everything is the same. There are no choices, no color, and no
love in the Community of Sameness. The novel starts out a month before the Ceremony of
Twelve, where the 12 year olds each get assigned a job. Jonas gets the assignment of the Receiver
of Memory, and he soon finds out that lying is permitted, and receives several memories of the
past without sameness, with pain too. He has the ability to see beyond, and finds out that he and
the Giver are the only people in the Community that have the ability to see, as well as hear beyond.

Social Issues In Social Work
Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in
poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing for the working middle class and poor
people, backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black).
Social workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and
development problems. Social workin the United States is a profession about promoting and
offering social services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations;
advocating with and for clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work).
Social work in the United States utilized the direct practice with individuals, families, and
communities. Social workers need to continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social
work).

public assistance should be below the minimum wage (red).
In the 19th century, Rescue organizations emerged to prevent child cruelty (red). These

Analysis Of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest
Psychological fiction and drama, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest , written by Ken Kesey,
utilizes dynamic, round characters, a distinct setting, and mature themes to create a compelling,
complex story that takes readers through a psychological exploration of an asylum system. With a
Lexile measure of 1040, this work of fiction begins its tale with the arrival of a swaggering,
boisterous and rebellious character named Randle McMurphy at a mental ward. A walking,
influential symbol of freedom in a controlling and repressive society, he repeatedly defies authority,
encouraging the other patients to join in challenging the boundaries and starting a war with the iron
fisted Big Nurse, Ms. Ratched, and ultimately leading the power struggle to a shocking end.
Through rich symbolism and vulgar yet honest dialogue, challenges faced by being unable to deal
with modern industrial society are insightfully and brilliantly communicated, making it a crime to
not recommend this classic as a must read.
Counterculture figure and American novelist, Ken Kesey (1935 2001) was raised in Springfield,
Oregon, where he graduated from the University of Oregon and later attended Stanford. The
biography provided at the beginning of the book states Kesey later worked as a night attendant in
the hospital s psychiatric ward. Based on the story s plot, it is clear this experience was the source
of inspiration for One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. What he was observant of there was also

The Loss Of Innocence In Elie Wiesel s Night
Loss of innocence is a change in a person s behaviors, beliefs, or perspectives as a result of
experience. The theme of loss of innocence is often seen in not only literature, but also everyday
life. During the Holocaust, many Jewish children were forced into concentration camps, where they
endured eye opening experiences that forced them to lose their innocence. In the memoir, Night,
Elie Wieselwrites about the experiences that caused him to lose his innocence in the concentration
camps. At the age of fifteen, Elie was removed from his home and forced into a concentration camp
with only his father left. Being in the concentration camp, Elie has witnessed and experienced many
awful things that normal teens generally do not go through in life. Through these series of cruel
events, Elie Wiesel experienced a loss of innocence in which caused desentization from the brutal
events happening around him, caused his loss of hope in humanity, and changed his religious faith.
One event that leads to Wiesel s loss of innocence is when he witnesses Idek beat his father with a
metal bar and remained silent about it. This event contributes to Wiesel s loss of innocence
because he lacked emotion during the brutal beating against his father. During the Buna camp, Elie
s father was doing a poor job, which resulted in Idek s father beating his father with a metal bar.
Elie thought to himself, I had watched it all happening without moving. I kept silent. In fact, I

Sexual abuse to a child at times is confusing to the family. Families who are affected by sexual
abuse to a child tend to have a difficult time talking about the abuse. About one out of every four
girls and one out of every five boys are sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old. Sexual
abuse to children happens across every socioeconomic status, ethnic, cultural, religion and

Children are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there are risk factors to consider that would
make one child more of a target compared to another child. The three risk factors that are related
to sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child
knows his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming
fact is how many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk
about the sexual abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children between
the ages of three to five years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of
sexual abuse. Children need to have supervision at all times, especially during times like
changing clothes and bathing. If unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the
relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will
notice the child isn t getting any attention from the family and will manipulate the situation with
the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child things that the family can t buy for the child,
listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The level of education plays a role, if the
child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have marital problems. Once trust is
established this is when the perpetrator will sexually abuse a child. Lastly, the final part is how

How Did Johannes Gutenberg Impact The Modern World
In the year 1440, Johannes Gutenberg created the printing press, and his effect on society and the
way information was spread can never be overstated in the slightest. This device allowed for more
opportunities for literacy and learning to take place. But exactly how much of an impact did
Johannes Gutenberg have on the modern world and its technology? Johannes Gutenbergs printing
presswas perhaps the most influential device of its time, and changed the modern world as we
know it. Gutenberg s machine allowed for books to be printed and distributed quickly, and
mistakes could be fixed in the blink of an eye. We will be looking at the biggest changes Gutenberg
s printingpress brought to society. Firstly, Gutenberg made literacy and reading more available
to the public. Because books used to be handwritten, they were only available for the rich and
wealthy who were able to afford a scribe who would write the entire book they wanted by hand.

Homelessness In Canada Essay
As the holiday season is right around the corner, you may be considering a few specific things
you will be asking for Christmas this year. A few ideas that might come to mind could be a new
pair of shoes, or the newest and hottest video game. While this might be true, there are many
people out there who have to find a roof over my head at the top of their list. Those with that
wish are those people you pass by everyday on the streets, shaking a tin can with the rustling
sound of a couple loose change and those Canadian Tire bills people just throw in. Those people
are evidently homeless; as they depend on the streets and a cardboard box for a home and a bed.
At least 200,000 people experience homelessnessin Canada each year! To give you a better

more than 30,000 people waking up on ChristmasDay without a home to call their own [2].

since the 60s has been steadily thinning their number are of the opinion that the differences
between schools for the top and schools for the lower classes, by definition, undemocratic, and
that the U.S. should strive for absolute equality, even if it will have to cut funding schools in
more affluent areas, and support special programs for gifted children. Opponents Kozol also
believe that all this is fraught with egalitarianism that runs counter to the spirit of American life. Is
not it should seek to ensure that children fully realize their potential even if it means to throw in

Impacts Of The Dambusters

on the dams of the Ruhr. As part of the Allies bombing campaign against Germany during the
war, the Dambusters wa an elite Lancaster bomber unit and the raid was led by Wing
Commander Guy Gibson VC. How much impact the Dambusters raid had is still debated but
what cannot be denied is the bravery of the men involved in the raid and the unique contribution

If the raid did not have a long term impact, it did have enormous propaganda value for the Allies.

the person she is later on. The integrity that is reflected through her character shows that the love
she finds in the end is completely worth it, considering she is finally content.
An example of Jane challenging expectations of Victorian women would be when she says, No.
St. John, I will not marry you. I adhere to my resolution. Women were assumed to desire
marriage. . . (British Library 7). An additional Victorian stereotype is that Women are supposed
to be very calm. . . (British Library 8) Jane challenges this stereotype when she is reading a book at
Gateshead Hall. Her cousin John starts a fight and throws a book at her. Jane couldn t take it
anymore and had to stand up for herself. Wicked and cruel boy! I said. You are like a murderer you
are like a slave driver. . . (Bronte 13) You can see that in Jane s character, she is a determined
woman; she won t let the men walk all over her. (Everything Jane Eyre 4) ... Show more content on

Jane was shown disapproval, but that was what motivated her to keep spreading her belief. The
nature of the consequence modifies the person s tendency to change or repeat the actions in the
future. (Analysis of Jane Eyre 3) After the scene of Jane yelling at her cousin John, she was
locked into the red room which was a remote room of which Mr. Reed died. This room made Jane
realize that if she did not encase her emotions at certain times, she will have to suffer even worse
punishments. But when you see the bigger picture you realize that this consequence leads to the
development of Jane s maturity and her better understanding for her place in

Obesity Treatment Essay
Obesity Treatment When it comes to digesting food normally the food passes through the stomach
and enters the small intestine. Most of our nutrients and calories are absorbed in the small
intestine and then it passes into the large intestine, where remaining waste is excreted from the
body. In Roux en Y Gastric Bypass surgery the doctors only use a small part of the stomach to
create a new stomach pouch, which is roughly the size of an egg. Once the stomach is to the proper
size they connect it directly to the middle portion of the small intestine, which is the jejunum and
bypassing the rest of the stomach and the duodenum, which is the upper portion of the small
intestine. The doctors do this procedure by making several small incisions... Show more content on

One that I noticed is difficult to get after the Roux en Y Gastric Bypass surgery is protein and this
is because of how low the intake is, intercurrent illness, extreme weight loss due to low food
intake. Some of the symptoms due to this is weakness, decreased muscle mass, brittle hair,
generalized oedema. The recommended intake is 1.0 to 1.5 g/kg like fish, eggs, meat, or oral
protein supplements. Patients should generally have their weight and blood pressure measured
weekly until the rapid weight loss phase diminishes, usually within 4 6 mo, then again at 8, 10 and
12 mo, and annually thereafter (Abd Elrazek Mohammad Ali Abd Elrazek). Stated by Abd Elrazek
Mohammad Ali Abd Elrazek, patients with diabetes are encouraged to check their blood glucose
daily , which this usually improves after surgery. According to Abd Elrazek Mohammad Ali Abd
Elrazek, patients maintained on antihypertensive or diabetic medications at discharge should be
monitored closely for hypotension and hypoglycemia, respectively, and medications should be
adjusted accordingly . We recommend that the following laboratory tests be performed at three, six,
nine months and annually thereafter: Complete Blood Count; Electrolytes; Glucose and Glucose

For Ralph and many young Americans, this fantasy quickly proves false as they grow up and
experience life. In the novel, Ralph s perception of New York Cityand America changes almost as
quickly as it was originally formed. He is immediately confronted with a language barrier,
leaving him lost and disconnected from his new world. Soon enough, Ralph was beginning to
know what was what. He was lonely still...New York lost its gleam. He drifted through its streets
as if through an exhausted, dusty land, no detail of which has changed in a thousand years (Jen
13 14). Ralph s hardships clearly show that coming and surviving in America as an immigrant is
not what most perceives it to be. Instead, the everyday realities of life in America quickly lose that
idealistic gleam which has been polished and revered over so many years, held in the minds of
Americans across the country. Ralph sees the truth of these things and turns to a new path on the
road to the American dream. After the disillusionment of Ralph s initial foray into American
culture, he decides the next best thing is for him to marry and begin a new life a new reality.

The Current Status of 3g and the Future of 4g Essay
The Current Status of 3G and the Future of 4G 3G and 4G are two mobile communications
standards that are currently in use. 3G is the third generation of the standard and 4G is the fourth
and most recent generation. Each successive generation usually brings new base technologies, more
network capacity for more data per user, and the potential for better voice quality. 3Gbecame
available in the United States in 2002 and 4Gbecame available in 2009 (O Malley). Although it is a
previous generation of communications standards, 3G is still in use world wide and will
probably remain so for a few more years. 4G is still relatively new and has somewhat limited
coverage, but it is only going to expand and get better.
Brief History ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are over 190 3G networks operating in over 40 countries worldwide (3G vs 4G). 4G s
coverage pales in comparison to the massive 3G network. The only 4G coverage available at the
present time is in the vicinity of large metropolitan areas. 3G s data transfer speeds have a
minimum data rate of 2 Mbit/s for stationary or walking users, and 384 kbit/s in a moving vehicle
(About Mobile Technology). 4G on the other hand can be up to 10 times faster, but speeds like
this are only capable in certain areas where the network is capable of supporting such speeds. 3G
remains relevant due to its wide coverage when compared with 4G and its consistent and still
relatively high data transfer speeds. But as the 4G network grows, the future of 3G isn t very
promising. It is only a matter of time before 4G takes over completely.
Brief History of 4G 4G is the fourth generation of cell phone mobile communications standards
and successor of the 3G standards. The world s first publicly available 4G service was opened in
the two Scandinavian capitals Stockholm and Oslo in 2009. 4G became available in the United
States later in 2009. As opposed to earlier generations, a 4G system does not support traditional
circuit switched telephony service, but uses all Internet Protocol (IP) based communication
exclusively (3G vs 4G). 4G system provides mobile ultra broadband internet access to laptops with

specific situations. I was able to utilize my deductive reasoning skills when I noticed a dip in a

How The Domino Theory Backfired
How the Domino Theory Backfired
Brought up in the 1950s, a theory primarily gave way to a supporting a war started in regards to
it. After two world wars had started and ended in the span of less than 50 years, the first half of
the 1900s were influenced and shaped by the war and war effort. This was a time in world history
ruled by vulnerability, but not long after the end of the infamous world wars, the Cold War
followed. This war was an American effort against the Russian to, in part, fight the rise of
communism. One of the most notorious wars for America, the only war they ever lost, was the
Vietnam War; a branch of the Cold War effort of containment, or at least the effort to stop the spread
of communism, was a theory coined as the domino theory. While the theory made sense at the time,
in hindsight, it was flawed, and there were other ways to accomplish the what the domino theory
was then thought to achieve.
The domino theory was defined as the held belief that if one communist country fell, neighboring
communist countries would fall with it, and in turn, communism would eventually reach America
and take over the world. This was theorized by American foreign policy advisors, but the phrase
was popularized after Dwight D. Eisenhower s use of it in one of his speeches. In this speech, he
talked about the importance of American intervention in South Vietnamto allow the creation of a
buffer country (South Vietnam), a country or state that stood between a potentially

Essay on The Cold Embrace
The Cold Embrace
The night in the city was going to be especially cold tonight. The sky had been overcast for almost
the entire day, leading to a brief although torrential downpour in the mid afternoon. The streets of
the Bronx outside the third story apartment window that Leonard Jefferson Bennings now looked
out were saturated from the July rainstorm and shone with a glimmer he remembered seeing from
his bedroom window in Massachusetts many years ago. He wondered if he would ever get to see
his childhood home again, and, if he did, would the world of his youth still exist even there? Like
the final beams of sunlight of the day, his hope was growing faint as he looked out on what had
once been the metropolitan heart of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She rarely chose to speak to anyone, but this time she approached the Leonard and the globe,
looking down upon it with burning hatred.
Some day, we ll make those Nazi bastards pay for every inch of land they have taken. She didn t
seem to be talking to Leonard as much as to herself; a brief vocalization of a burning obsession.
Without even acknowledging the presence of any other human being in the room, she walked
out toward the kitchen, probably either to get a drink of water, or to find Eric, the group leader.
Leonard had always wondered why it was that she was so consumed by hatred for the Germans.
Admittedly, few people in the world had any real reason to love the Nazis, especially with them
burning their way across half of New England and in control of or allied with most of rest of the
world. Still, Christina s hatred seemed much more personal than pure patriotism; even those in the
group who had lost family in the invasion didn t show the level of unbridled hate she did.
The only clue she had ever given as to the source of her rage was one she never spoke. On the
extremely rare occasions that she was seen without a full sleeved shirt (an oddity in mid July),
Leonard had seen scars, almost like whip marks across her back. She had never spoken of them, or
even acknowledged their existence, but Leonard had always suspected that perhaps she had been

William Shakespeare s Richard IIi
Women play a compelling part in the play Richard III. On one hand, they can be viewed of as
vulnerable and weak as they base their lives on the power and deeds of the men. However, their
curses appear to have a prophetic ability. In a way women are the possessions of the men who be
wed with them, nevertheless the women advance themselves with absolute emotive potency.
The women produce much of the spiritual strength behind the political activities of the play.
Paying attention to the men solely we can see that the play would for the most part be about
shrewd political strategizing and power and it is only when the women come in, do we really
see the emotional actuality and the consequences of this politically unpredictable situation.
Despite the fact the women in the play are powerless as they watch Richard s rule of terror, their
prophetic curses indicate that they do maintain some power in the play. Queen Elizabeth was the
wife of King Edward IV and the mother of the two young Princes and young Elizabeth. Prior to
her marriage to King Edward, she was engaged to a man named Sir John Gray, which is why
throughout the play, Richard enjoys insulting her by making reference to her as Lady Gray instead
of Queen Elizabeth, which in return shows us as the audience that Richard is demoting her by not
calling her Queen, and although it was frowned upon for a widower or a divorcee to take the
throne or remarry, this is a fine example of the Misogyny portrayed right throughout

Kane s Blasted
I ve only ever written to escape from hell and it s never worked but at the other end of it when
you sit there and watch something and think that s the most perfect expression of the hell that I
felt then maybe it was worth it. (Sarah Kane, Royal Holloway College, London, 3 November
1998). (Saunders. 2002: 1). Both representative and reflected in this statement made by the British
playwright Sarah Kane (1971 1999) (Sierz. 2001: 90 91) is the state of being human. In its literal
sense the state of being human could be illustrated as an expression of existence. That of the
individual and characteristics and traits experienced through the life of mortal man. (Oxford

As stated by Sierz; Kane rejects the complacent view that Britain is immune from civil war.
(Sierz. 2001: 98). She comments further that; there was a widespread attitude in this country that
what was happening in central Europe could never happen here. In Blasted, it happened here.
(Sierz. 2001: 98). Blasted thus serves as a political vehicle of expression towards humanity
dispelling the norms of social convention to deliver a message about the atrocities of violence and
war, by being in itself a violent and in yer face dramatic act. (Sierz. 2001: 3 10).
The play revolves around three main character s Ian, Cate and the Soldier in a hotel room in
Leeds. To summarise; Ian and Cate meet in a hotel room some years after their relationship has
ended. Ian makes various attempts to cajole then, it is implied to force Cate to have sex with
him. A bomb goes off and destroys part of the room. Ian becomes the victim as a Soldier re enacts
war crimes perpetrated on his girlfriend, who was subsequently killed. The Soldier shoots himself.
Blinded, hungry and alone, Ian makes...attempt to find relief. Cate has left the hotel in search for
food and as the play ends, returns with provisions...she shares with a finally grateful

Mending Wall Annotation
The desire to discover something can be the effect of the human condition or metaphysical with
the idea of emotions causing transformation of perspectives of oneself and the world. In Frost s
poem Mending Wall , a contemplation regarding the repairing of a wall between a persona and
their neighbour reveals that they hold conflicting views about the necessity of a wall. It is shown
that the persona disapproves the mending of the wallthrough the personification of apple trees. The
persona uses it as a logical example of the futile nature of having fences for fruit trees; thus, the
composer challenges not just the neighbour but also the audience to speculate the reasons for
having a fence. A bitter clash of opinions is unveiled when the persona... Show more content on

The protagonist is a man who experiences a series of events in attempt to pursue a girl he has
never had any verbal interaction with. An element of romance is prevailed through the
establishing shot where winds blow a piece of paper with the girl s lipstick stain and
coincidentally lands on the man. This is a metaphor for fate, although it is juxtaposed by a
reverse shot, where it shows the man that he is unaware that the women has left and this
experience is shared with the audience. Thus, it creates an impact on the audience as well
leaving them wondering whether the man and the women will ever see each other again. A high
angle shot is established in the following scene where he is relishing the piece of paper that was
originally owned by the girl. It depicts that the man desires to see her again. The man experiences
an unforeseen turn of event when he realises the girl is in the building across from his work
office. He attempts to create dozens of paper planes and toss them, at the window where she is
standing, in order to get her attention. The anthropomorphism of the planes is a manifestation of
the self discovery of his desire to be with her and is complemented with jubilant music, which

aimed at preventing suicide among military service members and veterans. Additionally, I will

The suicide prevention program is driven and maintained by military leaders (i.e. officers and non
commissioned officers) and military social workers who actively support/contribute to the entire

Additionally, the military has issued guidelines (which are military policies) for how commanders
can reduce the stigma of mental health services by creating a positive culture climate. Commanders
use the Commanders Consultation Assessment Tool, to gain insight into unit strengths and areas of

Jumping The Fire
Sitting around the fire we laughed at the thought. 1,000,000 dollars every year for 10 years, but
you are required to hold someone s hand and stare at them while you relieve yourself in the
bathroom. I lay this thought down on the table awaiting responses. Unanimously everyone said;
Yes idiot you could just pay someone to do it. we all again laughed at the obscene thought of
having to pay someone to sit down and hold your hands and watch you, through the involuntary
hand squeezes to the noises to be made, the mere thoughts makes us exceed a mere chuckle to loud
outbursts on this serene summer night. We keep telling more stories and more random questions as
the night drags on. Justin how much for you to jump the fire? I question, laughing at the idea with

this seriously. Jump. I back up. Flash. Skid mark. Arm swing. Jump. Spin. Hard landing. Foot

  • 2. Examples Of Caricatures In A Tale Of Two Cities A Tale of Two Caricatures Writers have always set out to create realistic characters. Some have succeeded in creating characters with unique goals and personalities while others fail to truly optimize the potential of their characters and instead have relied on some discernible caricatures. For example, from A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, written in 1858 to Crash, released in 2005, characters have been praised for their originality and criticized for being stereotypical and bland. However while some characters may appear to be caricatures, both Dickens and Haggis were constrained by time and societies explanation, forcing them to rely on some caricatures to make the story more accessible. Both Dickens and Robert Haggis show their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Manette chooses to speak up, but the Evremonde brothers subdue him and lock him in the Bastille. In there, Dr. Manette s enmity for the Evremondes continues to grow where he denounces the Evremonde brothers and the rest the Evremonde bloodline until they die out. As the revolution continues to grow, Dr. Manette s is finally given an opportunity to end the Evremonde bloodline. The bloodthirsty mob of the rebellion storms La Force, where Charles Evremonde is currently held. The mob detests anyone that had any remote connection to the French Aristocracy and would gladly murder him. Had Dr. Manette not used his influence as a Bastille survivor, Charles would ve been gored on the street. Despite his hatred for the Evremonde family, Dr. Manette forgoes his past to save the husband of one very dear to him. Finally, Dr. Manette is able to move on from the years of hatred in the Bastille, and he personally vouches for the Evremonde at his trial. Ultimately, Dr. Manette ceases to hold the Evremonde bloodline responsible for the heinous actions committed and had instead worked tirelessly to save his son in law. Through Dr. Manette, Dickens portrays a character that not only complete contradicts his initial caricature of a vengeful prisoner but also grows into someone willing to forgive someone who had wronged him. Despite such a strong lead character, where Dickens fell flat, especially for modern readers, was with his female characters, such as Lucie Manette. When we are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Controlling Cell Fate in Zebrafish Over the past years, there have been many conflicting views over weather or not rest has an effect on controlling cell fate. There has been previous studies that have indicated that the rest gene influences gene expression. Researchers at the State University of New York at Stony Brook have taken it upon themselves to determine if it is in fact true. By using methods like zinc finger nuclease and quantitative PCR, they were able to find reliable evidence that: rest in zebrafish does have an influencing affect on neural specific geneexpression but it fails to have many significant effects on zebrafish neurogenesis. First of all, lets look at why exactly scientists choose to work on zebrafish. Zebrafish was chosen by George Streisinger who was looking for a vertebrae model system to do work on genetics. It would appear that zebrasfish have some qualities that particularly makes them an exceptional choice for study. They are easy to maintain, manipulate (ability to microinject DNA, RNA and proteins into) and have many offspring rather rapidly. Another really interesting quality of zebrafish is that in the first few days of embryonic development, embryons are transparent, which allows imaging of cell movement and gene expression. Embryos also develop rather quickly; therefore scientists could do testing sooner then would be capable if mammals were used. Now lets look at what exactly is the rest protein. From what research has determined previously, we believe the rest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Blanche Vs Stanley In Streetcar Named Desire, I viewed Blanche as the protagonist and Stanley as the antagonist. Williams described Blanche as a demonic creature; the size of her feeling was too great for her to contain (1113). Blanche is the protagonist in the play and I think this because she is the main character throughout the play. She is trying to get her life straightened out after a couple of things going wrong lately in her life. She is hoping to be able to live with her sister and brother in law for a little while until she can get back onto her feet. I saw in the play how she was hurt by everyone around her, but mainly Stanley. The play is focusing on her dream to marry and be taken care of. But she did not want to be taken care of by Stella and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blanche tries in scene ten to stand up to him, yet she unfortunately fails to do that. She becomes weak and he takes advantage of her. She states in scene ten, Help Me! Caught in a trap (1170). She is unable to get away from his presence and ends up having to give in to his desire. Throughout the play I felt that Stanley was always up to something. He was a violent character in the play and was an enemy to Blanche who was the protagonist. In the play Stanley may sound like he is big and strong, he is actually on the defensive. He would not have felt like he had to deal with Blanche if she would not have come live with him and Stella. He resented Blanche because of her actions of trying to turn Stella against Stanley. An example of Stanley being the antagonist is when he hits Stella and when he rapes Blanche is another example. I think that Stanley wants to see Blanche break and see her fail. In the play Stanley treats Blanche with disrespect and brings her down whenever he gets the chance. The rising hatred between the two characters happens in scene ten, when Stanley expresses his rage by raping Blanche, saying, We ve had this date with each other from the beginning (Levine 1171). Blanche does not help the situation between herself and Stanley because she chooses to continue to aggravate him. I think Stanley raped Blanche because he wanted to force her out of his home. She calls him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pathway To Citizenship If it were up to you, and you had the choice whether or not to give undocumented citizens a chance at citizenship, would you? Many people believe that they should not have a chance at citizenship because they came here illegally. Every person has their own opinion on this topic. This debate is one of many debates going on in between the candidates or even the politicians, but of course they all have their own views and reasons on it. Everyone should consider that they should because either we are hurting families or they can help improve our economy. In the next three paragraphs this argument will be influencing you to side with my claim, that undocumented citizens should get a pathway to citizenship. One important reason that undocumented residents should be allowed a pathway to citizenship is that many of them have american ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not just in money but in resources, we use more resources to deport or capture undocumented citizens than we can really afford. According to Senator Schumer, Upfront magazine 2016, Without reform, our immigration laws threaten to tear apart families and force our government to expend precious resources to deport millions. What Senator Schumer is making clear is that the government is spending too much money on resources to deport undocumented citizens when instead they could find a way to make some if not all undocumented citizens a path to citizenship. Some people might argue that if undocumented citizens cooperated with the law or government there wouldn t be an issue. This might be true but maybe if the government didn t assume that all undocumented citizens are criminals and deport them instead of giving them a chance at citizenship, there would also be no issue. The key point is that instead of focusing on kicking undocumented citizens out, we should be focusing on making it possible for them to stay as legal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Military Coup In Honduras The military coup was launched by the country s handful of ultra wealthy families who control most of the nation s economy. Thousands of Hondurans protested the coup, but they were physically beaten by the Honduran military. It was an indicative onset as the coup launched a dramatic shift towards brutal fascism under the Pepe Lobo administration. Honduras had a serious problem with violence and corruption long before Lobo took over, but his response made the problems much worse by militarizing the police force. The former Police Commissioner MarГa Luisa Borjas admitted, It s scarier to meet up with five police officers on the streets than five gang members. Thus, the human rights record of the HernГЎndez administration has been even worse than Lobo s. As a result, politically motivated violence has seemingly increased. In fact, the former leader of a Honduran police death squad and SOA graduate, Juan Carlos El Tigre Bonilla, was hired as the national police chief. With Bonilla at the helm, the Associated Press reported in 2013 about roughly 150 murders by state sponsored death squads in the capital city alone with more in the surrounding areas. It has been made clear to the State Department that no units under General Bonilla s control should receive U.S. assistance without credible information refuting the serious allegations against him, said Sen. Patrick Leahy (D VT). Yet, the Obama administration has supported the HernГЎndez administration and offered further economic assistance to Honduras. • 7. Starship Troopers Chapter Summary Chris Ahmed Starship Troopers The story is set in a galactic battle between the Terran Federation and the Bugs of Klendathu. This first person narrative is about Juan Johnnie Rico who joins the Mobile Infantry straight out of school, despite his parents wishes to attend Havard and take over the family business. He starts out as a recruit, with an original intent of joining up with a close friend, working through the ranks with much ambition, eventually obtaining the status of non commissioned officer and then on to a successful officer commanding his own platoon. Rico s military career takes place mainly with the platoon he starts with, Rasczak s Roughnecks, on the corvette Rodger Young. Rico meets a lot of individuals along his journey,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most notable of the technological innovations are the powered armor suits which are used by the Mobile Infantry. Rico refers to them as turning the average man into the size of a gorilla. These exoskeletons are a complete self contained personal environment that augments every ability a man has. Strength, speed, weight carrying capacity, jumping ability with jets and rocket boosts, night vision, radar, radios, a HUD (heads up display) controlled by mouth movements and improved hearing turned the average soldier into a super human. These suits were incredibly expensive and took hundreds of man hours to check over to ensure they are battle ready, which was done before every drop. Space travel was a normal occurrence in universe that this novel holds. Women were mainly ship pilots as they had higher calculation skills than men to handle the quick deploys and maneuvers through the battlefield and space. These ships use a special space travel technology called Cherenkov Drive which allows them to travel thousands of light years in just a few hours. All military drop ships contain drop containers which the Mobile Infantry uses to deploy themselves to a battlefield. They are a small capsule just big enough to fit a soldier and their exoskeleton that drops straight out of a ship at a high atmospheric level. As the capsule heats up from the speed and height it is released from, it breaks into pieces eventually leaving the soldier in freefall at the right height to make a safe landing. The military also makes use of special humans that, in a simplest explanation, have super powers. Once dropped onto a battlefield, these individuals can sense and map out a whole underground city and its tunnels of Bugs in just a few moments using their hearing. • 9. Canagarajah Analysis There are a couple of authors that I agree with. I first would like to share why Canagarajah is the author who I mostly agree with before the other one. Her intention to write her statement was to have both evangelicals and non evangelicals dialogue in the TESOL field. She mentioned that post positivist scholars are tired of being stereotyped. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what other authors did not. On her statement she did not lean to one particular side, Christian or non Christian. Instead, she politely exposed both sides on the plate. She asked a number of questions to why do Christians hinder and do not attend non Christian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He described great points with respect, empathy, and sincerity. • 10. The Dignity Of Human Life Essay David Swenson, who was born in Sweden and was a professor of University of Minnesota. He is well known to the public for his publication of the article called The Dignity of Human Life , which was originally published in 1949 and currently still could be found in many philosophy books (Klemke, 2008). The article of The dignity of Humanlife contains several different valuable ideas of the subject to human life and also includes some great conclusions at the final. One of David s conclusion is that people besides learning and acquiring practical skills from the formal education or training. People also need something more than the practical skills, which is something of a different nature and it is something someone concludes self. Swenson states that youth requires developing a view of life in order to become a good person in moral and developed personalities. The view of life is not acquired through training and learning provided by general means of formal education or experience, but is obtained individually through thinking over someone s life, self exploring and subjective conviction. The reason for developing such view of life is that view of life is the mean of giving one s life. it is a principle of living, a spirit and an attitude capable of maintaining its unity and identity with itself in all of life s complexities and varying vicissitudes. Introduction Membranes contain phospholipid bilayer these are two layers of phospholipids which are facing in opposite directions to each other. The non polar tails are hydrophobic which are water hating, what makes it difficult for polar molecules/ions to pass through them are the fatty acid tails which also act as a barrier to water soluble substances. These molecules move in and out of the cell by diffusion, osmosis and active transport. Diffusion is the net movement of particles down a concentration gradient for example when gases move about and will move from where there is a high concentration to where they are in lower concentration. By osmosis, the diffusion of water through the plasma membrane is possible because the lipids bilayers are water resistant to important molecules and small molecules like oxygen and carbon dioxide, these molecules and ions diffuse freely across the cell membrane. Analysis Of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Psychological fiction and drama, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest , written by Ken Kesey, utilizes dynamic, round characters, a distinct setting, and mature themes to create a compelling, complex story that takes readers through a psychological exploration of an asylum system. With a Lexile measure of 1040, this work of fiction begins its tale with the arrival of a swaggering, boisterous and rebellious character named Randle McMurphy at a mental ward. A walking, influential symbol of freedom in a controlling and repressive society, he repeatedly defies authority, encouraging the other patients to join in challenging the boundaries and starting a war with the iron fisted Big Nurse, Ms. Ratched, and ultimately leading the power struggle to a shocking end. Through rich symbolism and vulgar yet honest dialogue, challenges faced by being unable to deal with modern industrial society are insightfully and brilliantly communicated, making it a crime to not recommend this classic as a must read. During the Holocaust, many Jewish children were forced into concentration camps, where they endured eye opening experiences that forced them to lose their innocence. In the memoir, Night, Elie Wieselwrites about the experiences that caused him to lose his innocence in the concentration camps. At the age of fifteen, Elie was removed from his home and forced into a concentration camp with only his father left. Being in the concentration camp, Elie has witnessed and experienced many awful things that normal teens generally do not go through in life. Through these series of cruel events, Elie Wiesel experienced a loss of innocence in which caused desentization from the brutal events happening around him, caused his loss of hope in humanity, and changed his religious faith. One event that leads to Wiesel s loss of innocence is when he witnesses Idek beat his father with a metal bar and remained silent about it. This event contributes to Wiesel s loss of innocence because he lacked emotion during the brutal beating against his father. During the Buna camp, Elie s father was doing a poor job, which resulted in Idek s father beating his father with a metal bar. Elie thought to himself, I had watched it all happening without moving. I kept silent. In fact, I thought of stealing away ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there are risk factors to consider that would make one child more of a target compared to another child. The three risk factors that are related to sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child knows his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children between the ages of three to five years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of sexual abuse. Children need to have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child things that the family can t buy for the child, listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have marital problems. Once trust is established this is when the perpetrator will sexually abuse a child. Lastly, the final part is how well the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did Johannes Gutenberg Impact The Modern World In the year 1440, Johannes Gutenberg created the printing press, and his effect on society and the way information was spread can never be overstated in the slightest. This device allowed for more opportunities for literacy and learning to take place. But exactly how much of an impact did Johannes Gutenberg have on the modern world and its technology? Johannes Gutenbergs printing presswas perhaps the most influential device of its time, and changed the modern world as we know it. Gutenberg s machine allowed for books to be printed and distributed quickly, and mistakes could be fixed in the blink of an eye. We will be looking at the biggest changes Gutenberg s printingpress brought to society. Firstly, Gutenberg made literacy and reading more available to the public. Because books used to be handwritten, they were only available for the rich and wealthy who were able to afford a scribe who would write the entire book they wanted by hand. With the printing press, however, books were made available to the public because of the lack of a need for a scribe. The printers during this time were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A few ideas that might come to mind could be a new pair of shoes, or the newest and hottest video game. Those with that wish are those people you pass by everyday on the streets, shaking a tin can with the rustling sound of a couple loose change and those Canadian Tire bills people just throw in. In a way women are the possessions of the men who be wed with them, nevertheless the women advance themselves with absolute emotive potency. The women produce much of the spiritual strength behind the political activities of the play. I back up. Flash. Skid mark. Arm swing. Jump. Spin. Hard landing. Foot slip. Second skid mark. Triumphant grin. Told ya I could do it. Flash. Burn mark. Loud noise. It s storming. We went inside. The Story ends. The night has also ended. At this time I discovered that simply taking any moment for granted could be the wrong choice. A simple night around a fire telling dumb jokes could be a night you remember your entire life. I look back and I m glad I can remember times like these. Without them life wouldn t be as marvelous I don t believe. So remember to take every moment like it s the best and you may find yourself just a little bit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
