serves by placing markers in the service box for each separate serve. After serving
for 30 minutes I can do some smashes for a while. After a big serve, sometimes the

1.What is one thing from the article you didn t know or that surprised you?
There were two things I took away from the article, the first being finding out the
root cause of where self concept stemmed from. For example, according to the
article self concept is first shaped by our mother; we respond back with decisions or
judgments based on our initial experiences from our first caregiver. A child who had
an unresponsive mother will act obnoxious or withdrawn so that people will want to
keep their distance. Those with consistently responsive mothers are confident and

Scientists have studied the ocean s history and discovered that this occurrence has
happened many times before, and for at least the past 70,000 years it has been
closely related to major climatic shifts on Earth. They believe the phenomenon that is
occurring is when ocean circulation, or overturning , changes or weakens, less heat

Another question to ask is how do scientists know this has occurred before? That
answer can be found within tiny sea organisms called foraminifera. These organisms
were found in a core sample that was taken from an area where the less corrosive
waters of the North Atlantic and more corrosive waters of the South Atlantic meet.
The distinct characteristics of these waters have different effects on the shells of
these tiny microorganisms, therefore, scientists can look at them and tell where they
came from.
Upon examining the shells, researchers were able to determine when the area was
enriched with water traveling down from the North Atlantic, and when the area was
enriched with waters from the South Atlantic instead. This allowed them to determine
the past patterns of circulation because more of the salty North Atlantic water means
good circulation, and more South Atlantic water implies the circulation was poor, as

immense changes that have occurred in ocean

adults who are rageoholics. There is often so much attention given the concrete
material manifestations of the impact of racism and other forms of social oppression
on black males that the psychological impact of early childhood abandonment is not
highlighted. Black males are unable to think creatively about their lives because of
their uncritical acceptance of narrow life scripts shaped by patriarchal thinking.
