Compare And Contrast Morton And William Bradford
Thomas Morton was a lawyer, who in 1624 left England and settled in Massachusetts in a region he
called Ma–re Mount (a hill by the sea). This area became an active fur trading site for New England
and is where many afflictions/conflicts occurred between himself and the pilgrims (Separatist
Puritans) of the Plymouth Community. Morton and William Bradford (the governor of the pilgrims)
both made accounts of their lives in Massachusetts. Each of their tales was different from one
another's, especially their perspectives of the Indians and religious values.
In Morton's "New English Canaan", he recounts the day that the Maypole was erected to stand on
Ma–re Mount. While this pole was agreeable with Morton and the Native Americans it was not

Ark Drawing: The Ark Of The Covenant
Ark Drawing
The Ark of the Covenant is a holy relic told to hold the two tablets that have the ten commandments
in it. God told Moses to make it that is what he did. It was a physical object like the Golden Cow,
but God told the people to make it. The Ark helped the Israelites through tough times. It was so
powerful that if certain people were to look at it they would die. One day the Israelites were taking
the Ark to from Shiloh to Even–Ezra and it was captured by the Philistines. The Philistines then took
it to one of their temples that worshipped their god Dagon. One day the Philistine checked on the
covenant and found it turned upside down with one of the angels broken off. They then fixed the
angel and set it up right. The next day they

The People Of Israel As A Punishment
The people of Israel began to worship idols; and as a punishment God allowed them once more to
pass under the power of their enemies. The seventh oppression, which now fell upon Israel, was by
far the hardest, the longest and the most widely spread of any, for it was over all the tribes. It came
from the Philistines, a strong and warlike people who lived on the west of Israel upon the plain
beside the Great Sea. They were blasphemy towards Yahweh Dagon, which was made in the form of
a fish 's head on a man 's body. These people, the Philistines, sent their armies up from the plain
beside the sea to the mountains of Israel and overran all the land. They took away from the Israelites
all their swords and spears, so that they could not fight; and they robbed their land of all the crops,
so that the people suffered for want of food. And as before, the Israelites in their trouble, cried out to
the Lord, and the Lord heard their prayer. In the tribe–land of Dan, which was next to the country of
the Philistines, there was living a man named Manoah. One day an angel came to his wife and said:
"You shall have a son, and when he grows up he will begin to save Israel from the hand of the
Philistines. But your son must never drink any wine or strong drink as long as he lives. And his hair
must be allowed to grow long and must never be cut, for he shall be a Nazarite under a vow to the
Lord." Keeping the promise with Yahweh, she conceived a son named Samson. Samson was

God 's Covenants : An Important Characteristic Of The Book...
God's Covenants
An important characteristic of the Book of Joshua was God assuring Joshua that He would be with
him (Josh. 1:9 New International Version). As long as Joshua lived, God would be with him, the
same way He was with Moses, "As I was with Moses, I will be with you" (Josh. 1:5 and 3:7).
Nobody would be able to stand up against him. Joshua was to be strong and courageous. He was
also to be careful to adhere to God's law. He would be prosperous and fruitful if he carefully to it
and meditated on it. Joshua was an example of the future Kings of Israel, one who kept the teaching
of Moses in its entirety (Josh. 1:7–8, 11:15).
God wanted Israel to conquer the land of Canaan and claim it for His glory. God's promises to
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob would be fulfilled by Joshua and the Israelites when they arrived in the
promised land flowing with milk and honey (Josh. 5:6). However, God gave Israel specific
instructions that they had to complete in order for them to claim Canaan their own, revel in the
covenant promises of God, or expect God to fight their battles. They had to renew the covenant with
God in order for His blessings to be on them and guarantee their victory.
The first command God gave the Israelites was that all the men were to be circumcised as a physical
sign of the descendants of Abraham (Josh. 5:2–3). The rite of circumcision had not been practiced
for 40 years because of the people's disbelief and disobedience (Josh. 5:6). Circumcision was

Biblical Roasting Place
Regrettably, due to the Phoenicians lack of ancient written history, the ability to interpret what
exactly their rituals meant to them becomes unattainable. Still, this cruel practice apparently existed
as unpleasant for the Carthaginian people due to their purchasing other offspring for sacrifices or
even nurturing servant's kids to take their own children's places. Yet, in times of hardship or the
catastrophe of crops failing or war, the priests would directly order the sacrifice of the local people's
children. Various ceremonies during problematical times could kill up to two hundred children of the
most affluent and powerful families, such as the political crisis of 310 B.C.; which preformed some
five hundred killings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ugarit became virtually forgotten until in 1928, when an Alawite peasant accidently exposed an
ancient crypt while tilling the ground on the northern coast of Syria. The farmer became astounded
to learn he had uncovered an ancient temple of Baal and the remains of a society that lived more
than thirty–four centuries ago during the Bronze Age, a time reaching back to 6000 B.C. In addition,
the excavations revealed the Necropolis of Ugarit belonged to the Semitic people, along with
Byblos, Sidon, Tyre, Shechem, and Jerusalem; this area persists where ancient Canaan existed. In

The King Of The Bible
It's recorded in the Bible that there were judges. Judges were different in the Bible compared to
judges now in the twenty first century. Judges back then were deliverers chosen by God to deliver
Israel's people from their enemies. Judges now are public officials chosen to decide cases in a court
of law. Othniel The first well known judge in the Bible was Othniel. Othniel is first spoken about in
Judges 1:13. Othniel is the son Kenaz who was the younger brother of Caleb. Othniel married Aksah
the daughter of Caleb. God called on Othniel to rescue Israel because Israel weren't serving God
they had been serving Baals & Asherahs. God was so enraged that he led them into the hands of

cried to God for help. Deborah was the wife of Lappidoth & was chosen by God to rescue the
Israelites. Deborah sent for Barak the son of Abinoam into Naphtali & told him "The God of Israel
commands you to go & take ten thousand men of Naphtali & Zebulun & lead them up to Mount
Tabor. While I lead Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, with his chariots & his troops to the
Kishon River & give him into your hands." & they did as was said. Barak pursued the chariots & his
army & all of Sisera's troops fell onto their swords; not a man was left. Sisera on the other hand had

to drink. Sisera told Jael to stand in the doorway to insure if anyone had come by & asked her if
anyone was there say no. Jael took a tent peg & a hammer. While Sisera was fast asleep Jael drove a

Why Personal Information Is Risky On The Internet And The...
With the development of internet technology, society has been pushed compulsorily into a 'big data'
period(Craig and Ludloff,2011)."Big data refers to the massive amounts of data collected over time
that are difficult to analyze and handle using common database management tools"
(http://www.pcmag.com). Not only the development strategy of the government and enterprises, but
also threaten citizens' personal information security. There are significant issues increases rapidly
due to this environment such as transfer , reproduction and abuse of personal information.
Therefore, it provides convenience to criminal who wants to steal personal information of other
people for benefit reason or other reasons. This essay aims to introduce the risks to personal
information on the internet and find some solutions to relieve even solve these problems. Firstly,
following article will indicate why personal information is risky on the internet and the situation of
information security in recent internet environment. Secondly, significant issues from information
security will be shown. Finally, solutions and evaluations need to be come up with so that people
can protect their privacy.
As an important determinant of the development of commercial activities, accurate personal
information is required to provide on the internet. However, E Xie,H–H.Teo Teo,W.Wan,(2006)

Categories Of Malware Concerns
Malware Concerns The most compelling category of cyber–attacks is the malware, which negatively
impacts the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of a network or system from attacks ranging
from the network level up to the operating system level. Therefore, the organizations need to
safeguard their network and system components at all possible levels, to avoid a possible malware
intrusion (Stallings & Brown, 2012). Various critical categories of malware and their attacking
patterns and approaches are comprehensively analyzed in this critical thinking paper. Additionally,
one of the critical malware types is highlighted with examples of the various attacks that challenged
supposedly well–secured organizations.
Categories of Malware
Stallings and Brown (2012) provided an excellent categorization of malware. The primary
categories are derived on the basis of propagation and payloads, where propagation contains types
such as infected content, for example, viruses; vulnerability exploits, for example, worms; and
social engineering, for example, spam e–mails and Trojans. On the other hand, the payload contains
types such as system corruption; attack agent, for example, zombie and botnets; information theft,
for example, key–loggers, phishing, and spyware; and stealthing, for example, backdoors and
rootkits (Stallings & Brown, 2012).
Propagation Type Malware
In the category of propagation the first significant type is the virus that infects an executable content

Comparing Dagon, And The Picture In The House
H.P Lovecraft's inability to construct an entity of the unknown without the suggestion of an
unrelenting air of terror is acknowledged within Lovecraft's configuration of the weird tale. With
reference to the quotation provided, ideas around the notion of fear and the unknown will be
identified and explored in three of Lovecraft's stories: Dagon (1919), The Picture in the House
(1920), and The Outsider (1926). This essay seeks to not only decipher the nature of the unknown
presented within each story, but the nature of the fear in which each unknown entity provokes.

(1920), are subject to the narrator's fears, in The Outsider (1926), Lovecraft proposes ... Show more

The nature of the threat in which the unknown entity bares on the limits of human comprehension is
identified within Lovecraft's stories through the respective narrator's active displacing of the
unknown concerned. The nature of the unknown's displacement is due to the fear in which the entity
brings to the norms and values embedded within an increasingly endangered anthropic civilization.
The unknown adheres to, both entities perceived as physically grotesque, identified in Dagon

such as ignorance and alienation, identified in Lovecraft's The Picture in the House (1920) and The

formation of an emotion, rather than the provoking of an action. Lovecraft's stories are meant to lure

Awakenings of Hamlet and Samson
In William Shakespeare's play Hamlet and in John Milton's play Samson Agonistes, both title
characters undergo an intellectual metamorphosis, each becoming more and more aware of the
power of his mind as he learns to master it. Despite a difference of almost 50 years between the
writing of each of these plays, Hamelet being composed in 1601 and Samson Agonistes not being
completed until circa 1646–1648, both reflect a preoccupation of the 17th century shared by both
authors, the emergence of the mind and the human reason.

In today's modern society of meditation, Hamlet's process of focusing is common practice in many
fields, such as sports for example, but in the 17th century could have been considered as a important
mesure of discipline to master in the newly developing Renaissance world that began to place more
emphasis on the importance of human reason and a clear, undistracted mind.
Early in the play, Hamlet begins a process of self–doubt ("am I a coward?"), which is an important
and necessary part of the awakening of one's mind for this questioning forces one's mind to know
why every circumstance is as it is. In the same sililoquay, he also directly summons up the forces of

The account of David and Goliath is one most often taught to children. Many adult believers heard
the account while growing up. To move beyond the superficial aspect of the events, an in–depth
analysis is needed. The narrative is a complex literary work with deep theological messages. The
current paper will record a literary analysis of 1 Samuel 17:1–58 and then discuss the theology and
applications that can be useful in the lives of the modern day believer. The nation of Israel had asked
God for a king. God had allowed this and Saul was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caleb confidently said that they should enter the land and take possession of it but the others were
frightened. The account is similar to the men of Israel being terrified of Goliath and David being
confident of God's ability to defeat him. The account of Dagon, the pagan god, in 1 Samuel 5:4
fallen on his face before the ark of the Lord is perhaps connected intertextually with Goliath, the
pagan warrior, fallen on his face at the hand of David, God's servant.
A couple of interpretative problems were identified. Why would Saul call David to play for him and
settle his nerves in chapter 16 and then in chapter 17 not know David's father? Many explanations
have been offered. Some of the more plausible ones include that Saul was mentally tormented and
thus may not have recognized David. It should be pointed out that Saul did not ask David's name but
the name of his father. Jesse was old and advanced in years at this time (1 Samuel 17:12). It is
possible that Saul had never met Jesse. Saul had a reason to be interested in Jesse at this point
because David killed Goliath and now his family would be exempt from taxes (v. 25). Another
possibility is that this narrative originally may have been a separate account that the editor
incorporated while compiling the books of Samuel. In essence, it does not follow in chronological
order. The fact that the author deemed it necessary to record that David took five stones when

Nicolas Poussin's The Plague At Ashdod
The Plague at Ashdod is Nicolas Poussin's most frequently studied and celebrated plague paintings
of the seventeenth century. The painting represents the Old Testament story from passages in the
First Book of Samuel. According to the scriptures, the Philistines had stolen the Ark of the Covenant
and brought it to the statue of Dagon. This angered God and he plagued the citizens of Ashdod with
tumors and swarmed the territory with rats. In 1630, while Poussin worked on the painting, Italy
was stricken with the worst outbreak of the bubonic plague. This had a major influence on his
depiction of the Old Testament story. Sheila Barker's Poussin, Plague, and Early Modern Medicine
offers the beliefs surrounding Poussin's medical and spiritual knowledge of the plague. Christine
Boeckl's The Miracle of the Ark in the Temple of Dagon makes connections to literary and visual
sources that influenced Poussin's painting. The Plague at Ashdod was not just isolated to the Old
Testament but also served as an indication to a series of destructive events that were to come. ...

Even though both focused on the same artwork, each article offers a different dissertation and
provides substantial evidence to support their claim. Boeckl gives evidence of literary and visual
sources of plague iconography that Poussin adopted in his painting. She also includes references to
the gestures, attributes and motifs in the sketches for The Miracle and offers an understanding of the
artists thought process. Barker explains contemporary understanding of medicine and poetry
influenced Poussin's interpretation of the biblical plague. She gives insight that the composition was
tied to the belief that it could immunize viewers against the plague. I now respond differently to The
Plague of Ashdod by understanding how it serves as a biblical reference and a plague image based

Philistines and Faith
Part 1: Question #1 – Is there something new that I've learned in my study of this part of 1 Samuel?
I learned that God does not always need a prophet to communicate with people. I always assumed
that when God had something to say in the Old Testament, he spoke to one specific person, who
then delivered God's message to the rest of the people. However, in 1 Samuel, chapter 5, God does
not use a human being to communicate His will. Instead, He simply knocks over the statue of the
Philistine god, Dagon, breaking off its head and hands and afflicts those near the Ark with tumors.
When the supernatural vanquishing of Dagon and the accompanying plague disturb the Philistines

Supernatural Intervention In H. P. Lovecraft's Dagon
Divinely Inspired or Divinely Insane: Supernatural Intervention in Literature Throughout various
genres of literature, divine or mystical intervention has played a pivotal role in revealing truths to
man. In many cases, these truths prove to be too complex for the human mind to comprehend,
resulting in characters to slowly become insane. The characters of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and
Hamlet from their respective Shakespeare plays as well as the unnamed narrator in H.P. Lovecraft's
short story Dagon express this belief as they each struggle to maintain sanity after their experiences
with powerful, unknown forces. Supernatural beings play significant roles in several of
Shakespeare's plays, but take on detrimental roles in many of his tragedies. They can be seen most
prominently in what can coincidentally be considered his two most famous tragedies, Macbeth and
Hamlet. While paranormal beings appear in forms of the "Weird Sisters" in Macbeth and the ghost
of King Hamlet in Hamlet, John Gibson argues that they contribute to their plots differently. In his
essay, Shakespeare's Use of the Supernatural, he argues that Hamlet's supernatural elements confirm
a truth from the past, whereas in Macbeth to the future. Dr. John Charles ... Show more content on

The Great Old Ones
When you chose to represent each of your albums on individual novellas from one of the most

Numerous bands have created concept albums based around their own ideas, or pen songs that take
insight from creative writing, but few bands will dedicate the entire span of an album to an existing
piece of literature.
H.P. Lovecraft is the lifeblood of France's ambient black metal quintet, The Great Old Ones. His
grotesque imagery in his vivid fictional recounting goes hand in hand with the bleak grandeur that
The Great Old Ones conjures, which simultaneously takes their audience on a journey through the

"EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy" is very much a continuation of the band's past two albums, only with
increased theatrics and wild execution. The guitars are solely focused on creating a grandiose
atmosphere but predominantly rely on walls of sound and swerving rhythms; the halfway point of
'The Ritual' inducing a heavy Emperor influence. The technique may sound one–dimensional but it's
what imagery is being portrayed by the guitars that command your attention, not how it is portrayed.
Finally, a special mention has to go to Léo Isnard's pummelling drumming, which is nothing short of
breathtaking throughout this accursed plot.

an Assyrian king, Sennacherib, fought several princes and captured the city of Jerusalem. There are
two different versions of the text: The Biblical and Sennacherib version. This event was recorded by
Sennacherib himself. Which means he meant to write it as if he was the hero in his own story. In the

Storm God is the protector of all creation. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast these
three literary works to demonstrate the defeat of order over chaos. In the Babylonian Enuma Elish,
Marduk, the Storm God defeats the dragon–like monster Tiamat. In the Ugaritic Baal Cycle, the
Storm God, Baal, defeats the serpent Yam. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated by the author, "[Tiamat] elevated Kingu, made him chief among them. The leader of the
ranks, command of the Assembly, the raising of weapons for the encounter, to combat, to direct the
battle, to control the fight." Tiamat prepares for battle against one of her own, one of her offspring;
she defies family and is ready to fight. As stated by the author, "Tiamat prepares for battle against
the gods, her offspring." In both version one of the Illuyanka Myth and in the Enuma Elish, the
serpents use their children to assist in defeat against the Storm God.
The battle between Baal and Yam in The Baal Cycle can also be comparable to the battle between
Marduk and Tiamat in the Enuma Elish. In The Baal Cycle, Yam sends for El to try and have Baal
surrender to Yam. The gods are afraid of Yam, just like the gods are afraid of Tiamat in the Enuma
Elish. The author in The Baal Cycle writes "Sea sent two messengers...Leave, lads, do not turn back;
now head toward the Assembly in council, at the center of the mountain of night. Do not fall at El's
feet." Yam wants to take Baal's place and stature along with his power, and El agrees. Yam says to El
"El, give up the one you are hiding, give up Baal and his powers, the son of Dagon: I will assume
his inheritance." Baal refuses and conquers the serpent with the two clubs presented to him by
Kothar instead of surrendering to the serpent's request. In the Enuma Elish, Tiamat uses a similar
approach to try and get Marduk

Theme Of The Dunwich Horror
H.P. Lovecraft wrote the short story, "The Dunwich horror," in 1928 and had it published in april of
1929. He has written other works such as "The Call of Cthulhu," "Dagon," "The Shadow over
Innsmouth," "The Colour Out of Space," and "From Beyond." Many common themes within his
work are non human influences on humanity and forbidden knowledge. In many of his stories there
are unknown creatures that cause humans to go insane. Also, his short stories have curiosity of the
unknown. H.P Lovecraft likes to write about science fiction and mythology. Most of his pieces have
mythological creatures that he either makes up or learns about from other cultures. In "The Dunwich

The author uses setting to convey the night of the Dunwich Horror. The setting describes the strange
things around them the night of it all starting. This can be seen in the quotation "The Dunwich
horror proper begins on the night of September 9th. The hills groan, dogs howl, and a stench hangs
in the air. A farmhand, Luther Brown, frantically tells Mrs. Corey, for whom he works, of the
disheveled fields he has just witnessed. Bushes and trees have been uprooted and pushed aside as if
something as large as a house has swept through the area" ("The Dunwich Horror"). The setting
helps create the suspense of what's about to occur. Lovecraft describes this night as "it was in the
dark of September 9th that the horror broke loose. The hill noises had been very pronounced during
the evening, and dogs barked frantically all night. Early risers on the 10th noticed a peculiar stench
in the air. About seven o'clock Luther Brown, the hired boy at George Corey's, between Cold Spring
Glen and the village, rushed frenziedly back from his morning trip to Ten–Acre Meadow with the
cows" (lovecraft). The suspense that Lovecraft creates wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the scary
surroundings. The suspense all ties in to the theme of horror brought through by the

The Posture Of Prayer : An Islamic And Christian...
The Posture of Prayer: An Islamic and Christian Perspective Communication: The Basis of Life
Islam, Judaism and Christianity are three of the world's great monotheistic faiths. They share not
only many of the same holy sites, such as Jerusalem, and prophets and patriarchs, such as Abraham;
but also the many practices and beliefs such as prayer, ablutions, and strong familial ties of the
patriarch and others before him. Collectively, scholars refer to these three religions as the Abrahamic
faiths, due to the fact that Abraham and his descendants are dynamic protagonists in the founding of
these religions. The posture of prayer in our context deals with the physical posture as well as the
spiritual posture and prostration of the body, mind, and spirit. Note that there are countless
circumstances in the Bible where men and women not only bowed before Deity but also before
those held in high esteem; whether it be to the king supreme or to the head of household; the
showing of respect via the posture of prostrating was common in many circles. Most fascinating to
me is Mark 3:11 that records: "Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before
Him and shout, "You are the Son of God!" The disciples declared in their peril on the sea, "What
manner of man is this that even the wind and the waves obey Him. (Matt 8:27)" Note that the word
"obey" is derived from the word obeisance which also means to bow and or prostrate oneself before.

Evolution And Changes Of Buddhism
Evolution and Changes of Buddhism and the Architecture of Stupas in Burma (Myanmar)
Buddhism, as a religion, started in the fifth century BC at Lumbhini in what is now Nepal. From its
main centre of origin, it spread across vast areas of Asia, radiating outwards in all directions apart
from the West, bringing its universal doctrine of salvation and enlightenment for men and all living
creatures, its philosophy and ethics, its learning and art. At the core of the teachings was the concept
that life is full of suffering and dissatisfaction (dukkha) and exists in an unending cycle of birth and
death (samsara) because of man's fixation on a self and his delusion about his own individuality.
And in Buddhist view, liberation from samsara and ending the cycle of continuing suffering is
possible by following the path and teachings of Buddha.
The development of Buddhism across followed natural geographic divisions. Buddhist doctrine and
culture spread mostly by the way of trade–routes. During its spread, Buddhism adapted and evolved
within different cultures and their existing beliefs. It was one of the keys to the success of the
religion. Certain aspects of Buddhism were harmonized with the pre–existing earlier practices,
customs, mythologies and tradition. Spirits, deities and divinities from local mythologies and beliefs
continue to coexist and were incorporated into the pantheon of the newly formed religion. For
examples, in China Buddhism absorbed Taoist elements; in Japan, it

A Survey On Botnets Are The Networks Infected By Malware
A SURVEY ON BOTNETS
ABSTRACT:
Botnets are the networks infected by malware. Over a period of time, these botnets have become a
vulnerability to the web. Botnets are created to perform large–scale illicit activities, sometimes even
endanger the operation of public and private service organizations across the globe. This paper
portrays a complete survey that discusses the botnet problem in–detail. This paper summarizes a list
of the important and recurring research problems that remain unsolved.
Introduction: Approximately 16–25% of the systems connected to the web are botnets(or its

Above all, botnet operation could be lucrative for its controllers on the grounds that bots are
reasonable and generally simple to proliferate. Case in point, Symantec reported an ad on an
underground discussion in 2010 advertising a botnet of 10,000 bots for US$ 15. This botnet may be
utilized within a spam or rogueware attack, yet could additionally be utilized for a distributed denial
of service attack.
Botnet activity is in charge of gigantic fiscal misfortunes to Internet Service Providers, privately
owned businesses, governments and home clients. ITU (International Telecommunication Union)
appraises that the money related impacts of malware extent from US $13.2 billion, in immediate
harms brought about to the worldwide economy in 2006, to US$ 67.2 billion, in immediate and
aberrant harms to US organizations in 2005. The worldwide expense of spam in 2007 has been
evaluated to have been US$ 100 billion, with US$ 35 billion apportioned to the only us.
There are a few studies on botnets in the writing, however most date from before 2009 and

Similarities And Differences: Ancient Greek Religion Vs....
Ancient Greek Religion V. Christianity What are the Greeks religious beliefs, and what is the
difference between the Greeks persuasion and a common American religion? There are unusual
similarities and differences. Focus of the Greeks loyalty was based on the Bible but the one god was
turned into many. This is surrounded by the critical writers that were the same morally. The Greeks
religious beliefs could also be called mythology, or an assembly of folklore, but for this it would
categorise as a customary or a philosophy encircling a particular person, institution, or situation, but
in today's world it would be called exaggerated or fictitious. While there were few beliefs universal

The most obvious difference deals with the number of gods. In Christianity, there is only one god,
and this one God is God of everything and everyone. For the Christians religion was something very
serious, it dealt with the eternal life and the place that one's eternal self would go once it left this
world. They not only pray to the lord for help in life, but also for help in saving their eternal life. In
Greek Mythology there are many gods and demigods behind them. When there is a prayer, it is
usually done by a group of people, because they felt that the more people that the gods promised
something to the bigger the reward. Often times the religion was more of a status symbol for the rich
and powerful. One potential parallel that many people familiar with the Bible and Greek mythology
have talked about. Both Samson and Hercules are well known for their legendary strength, and
many other similarities exist between the two. To sum it up for you Somsons betrothed wife dies by
philistines, he also kills a lion. He then he sleeps with a girl, and falls for her, he then shares the
secret of his strength and is finally captured,Samson died when he destroyed a temple of Dagon by
pushing two of its supporting pillars apart, and in the process he killed about three thousand
Philistines.Hercules is a demigod, the son of Zeus and a woman named Alcmene. His first marriage
fails when is made insane by Hera and he kills his own children. He also kills a lion (Nemean Lion).

The Call Of Cthulhu And The Color Out Of Space
In general, humans tend to belief that they are the most important creatures inhabiting the earth.
Although this may be true, when thinking about the entire universe it is questionable whether or not
humans are important at all in the grand scheme of things. The idea of cosmism is just that. This
idea is prevalent in many of H.P. Lovecraft's stories, such as "The Call of Cthulhu" and "The Colour
out of Space." The idea of cosmism is relevant to "The Call of Cthulhu" because it portrays the fact
that humans and the way in which they live their lives does not matter in the grand scheme of things.

which shows that human life is so insignificant that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The creatures in this story have a few signifying features. One feature of these creatures is that they
were unknown entities. For example, "From Beyond," states, "Indescribable shapes both alive and
otherwise were mixed in disgusting disarray, and close to every known thing were whole worlds of
alien, unknown entities" (10). The fact that these creatures are aliens, prove that they are not known
to the human world. Another feature that these creatures have is that their physical features are very
strange. For example, they are described as "Foremost among the living objects were great inky,
jellyish monstrosities which flabbily quivered in harmony with the vibrations from the machine.
They were present in loathsome profusion, and I saw to my horror that they overlapped; that they
were semi–fluid and capable of passing through one another and through what we know as solids. "
(11). Similar to the Dagon, the creatures in this story resemble sea creatures. Also, this description
shows that these creatures have the ability to pass through solid objects. This is out of this world
because nothing in this dimension possesses the power to pass through solid objects. The creatures
in this story are entities that are not blind to the human world. According to the story, the creatures
can see the scientists just as easily as they can see them. This story

H.P. Lovecraft's 'Dagon': Summary and Analysis
Dagon is a short story written by the American horror and fantasy writer H.P. Lovecraft in 1917. The
story began with an unknown narrator telling the story of his abduction by the German sea–raiders.
Later on, the protagonist continues the story of his successful escape in a small boat from these sea–
raiders. After being lost for days in the sea, the man became haunted by his dreams, nightmares, and
delusions. He told the story of how he was asleep and unexpectedly found himself in the middle of a
black mire in the middle of the ocean after his boat had drifted. He went into the mire in an attempt
to find dry land, a ship, or someone who can help him. He found a white monolithic statue with
aquatic hieroglyphics on it and a giant creature looks like a giant fish worshiping it. He then starts
his hallucination where he says that he ran back to his boat singing and laughing. Afterwards, he
woke up in San Francisco hospital and knew that a ship saved him. Due to his hallucinations and
nightmares, he became a morphine addict and he wrote this story as his suicide letter.
Dagon is written in a very distinctive way that identifies Lovecraft's writing style. It is chaotic and
sounds like the blabbering of a madman. The beginning of Dagon was definitely an attention getter,
yet what followed later was incongruous. The story is dark, ornate, complicated, and Lovecraft
description is reminiscent. It is also filled with pathos, mostly fear. It is chaotic with a lot of
emotional exaggeration in it. The sense of horror was intense along with agonizing feelings,
loathing, and overwhelming. This is shown in the words Lovecraft used like nauseating fear, vague
horror, awestruck, and terror. Dagon was also filled with unnecessary information and unnecessary
description in most of its parts. The language used added to the story. Word choices like "putrid with
the carcasses of decaying fish" and "unutterable hideousness" are undoubtedly unique. "Fathomless
chaos of eternal night" and "through my terror ran curious reminiscence" along with "slimy expanse
of hellish black mire" are other examples of the strong language Lovecraft used in most of his
writings (Lovecraft, 1917).

John Milton's Paradise Lost Essay
John Milton's Paradise Lost
John Milton's Paradise Lost is filled with fantastical tales from the depths of Hell, extravagant
descriptions of the fallen angels, and a curious recitation of the council of demons in their new
palace. How did Milton dream up such vivid depictions of such horrible demons as the ones we see
in Book I? Most of his fallen angels originate in the form of Pagan gods condemned by the Bible,
with actual historical backgrounds which Milton cites in his lengthy descriptions.
Firstly, a few words about Satan would seem prudent, as he is the first of the fallen angels, the leader
in the revolt, and the first to venture to earth to corrupt mankind. He is Milton's main character, and
the only one to extend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Old Testament leaves hints as to Satan's character, while the New Testament states outright how
Satan came to be. It began with his dissent from God's will
"And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and
his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So
the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the
whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him" (Revelation 12:7–9)
Milton's knowledge of the Bible is proved beyond the context of the battle in heaven with the
creation of the other angels, all of whom have origins "adorned with gay religions full of pomp and
gold, and devils to adore for deities: Then were they known to men by various names, and various
idols through the heathen world" (Paradise Lost & Other Poems 103).
Moloch, the "horrid King besmear'd with blood of human sacrifice and parents tears" (103) is the
first to ascend from the lake after Beelzebub and Satan. He was a god whose altars were filled with
"the noyse of drums and timbrels loud" so that parents' "childrens cries [went] unheard that past
through fire to his grim idol" (103). "Him the Ammonite worshipt in Rabba and her watry

Great Old Ones Research Paper
Great Old Ones The Great Old Ones are a group of cosmic beings created by 1920's horror author
Howard Philips Lovecraft. They are primarily antagonists in his stories to the human protagonists,
and usually are victorious since they are extremely powerful. This pantheon of god–like beings has
been referenced in many pieces of media and literature, as they are the pinnacle of the cosmic and
Lovecraftian horror subgenres. The first story to ever feature these beings was "Dagon", written in
1917 and was the breakout story for Lovecraft. It's plot involved a mentally unstable marine officer
writing a letter about the horrors he witnessed while his ship was captured by German sea–raiders,
then proceeded to crash onto an unknown island, which was filled with dead carcasses, weird
obelisks, and fish–like people. The story ends when the officer writes about an amphibian hand on
his window, implying that he was then killed by the creature. This story featured a Great Old One
who would later be named "Father Dagon", leader of an alien race named the Deep Ones
("Howard"). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the city. Then, during a celebration of conquering Ib, Bokrug rose once again with his army of

Lovecraft then continued to write, which led to his most famous work, "The Call of Cthulhu"

The Reason Why Israel Wanted A King
During the time of Samuel, the nation of Israel desired to have a king for many reasons. Ultimately,
Saul was chosen and rejected, and was succeeded by David, who became a better king than Saul.
Unfortunately, after David's death, Israel was divided due to a sin committed by Solomon. Let's
begin by looking at why Israel desired a king. The main reason why Israel wanted a king was to be
"like all the other nations" (Hindson and Yates 2012). "Then all the elders of Israel gathered together
and came to Samuel at Ramah and said to him, "Behold, you are old and your sons do not walk in
your ways. Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations" (1 Sam 8:4–5 ESV).
According to the scriptures, the elders thought that Samuel was too old and his sons did not have the
same walk with God that Samuel had. The Israelites not only wanted a king, but a king who would
judge them (1 Sam 8:6). The Lord tells Samuel to make them a king since they reject the Lord, but
they do not reject Samuel (1 Sam 8:7). Despite God's warnings delivered through Samuel, Israel
chose Saul as their first king. Saul was chosen by God to be the king, according to the scriptures (1
Sam 9:17). The Lord told Samuel, "Here is the man of whom I spoke to you! He it is who shall
restrain my people" (1 Sam 9:17). When Samuel gathers the people together, he reiterates how Israel
has rejected God and demanded a king by saying, "But today you have rejected your God, who
saves you from all your calamities and

Botnet Detection And Analysis Of Cyber Security
ISSUE: BOTNET DETECTION AND ANALYSIS.
Introduction
A botnet, otherwise known as "zombie army," is a group of computers that are compromised or
controlled often from a single source a human operator known as a "Botmaster," and run related
software programs or scripts [1]. In contrast with the previous malware, botnets have the
characteristic of a command and control (C & C) channel, and use existing common protocols, such
as IRC and HTTP [1]. Botnets provide a distributed platform for many cyber–crimes such as
Distributed Denial of Service attacks against critical targets, malware dissemination, phishing, and
click fraud. All these together make botnet detection and mitigation an important and challenging
problem in cyber–security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Anomaly–Based Detection Anomaly–Based techniques attempt to detect computer intrusions and
misuse by monitoring system activity and classifying it as either normal or anomalous[1]. Anomaly
based detection techniques solve the problem of detecting unknown bots based on the traffic
anomalies such as high network latency, high volumes of traffic, traffic on unusual ports, and
unusual system behavior[1]. Nevertheless this technique meets the problem of detecting unknown
botnets[1,2]. Anomaly based detection techniques are classified into two categories: host–based and
network based techniques[2]. BotSwat, proposed by Stinson and Mitchell, is a host based taint
tracking system to discover the programs that take advantage of the received network data to
identify the potential remote control behavior. Limitation with the host based approach is its high
false positive rate[2]. The network based technique tries to detect botnets based on the network
traffic monitoring. BotProbe uses the active monitoring techniques which can actively participate in
the network session, and if required can inject test packets to the client that is under monitoring.
This technique shows promise on the real–world IRC based botnet detection[2]. Passive network
monitoring uses some devices to inspect the traffics as they pass by. An effective algorithm proposed
by Binkley and Singh combines TCP–based anomaly

The Impact Of Modern Property Development On People
The Impact Of Modern Property Development On People Chapter 1 Introduction "Modernity is
what gives the present the specific quality that makes it different from the past and points the way
toward the future. Modernity is also described as being a break with tradition" (Hilde Heynen,
1999). When it comes to building modern city, tall buildings, high towers, skyscrapers and big
construction play a major part. The arise of these kind of modern development resident depends
partly on the world population and land shortage. According to Gregory Hodkinson, almost half the
percentage of the world population is living in the cities and by the year 2050, the figure continue to
increase to 70%. Figure 1 World Urbanization Prospects: The 2014 Revision, shows that the
population of the world living in the urban area tend to increase gradually whereas the population in

Compare And Contrast Morton And William Bradford

  • 1. Compare And Contrast Morton And William Bradford Thomas Morton was a lawyer, who in 1624 left England and settled in Massachusetts in a region he called Ma–re Mount (a hill by the sea). This area became an active fur trading site for New England and is where many afflictions/conflicts occurred between himself and the pilgrims (Separatist Puritans) of the Plymouth Community. Morton and William Bradford (the governor of the pilgrims) both made accounts of their lives in Massachusetts. Each of their tales was different from one another's, especially their perspectives of the Indians and religious values. In Morton's "New English Canaan", he recounts the day that the Maypole was erected to stand on Ma–re Mount. While this pole was agreeable with Morton and the Native Americans it was not however, ... • 3. Ark Drawing: The Ark Of The Covenant Ark Drawing The Ark of the Covenant is a holy relic told to hold the two tablets that have the ten commandments in it. God told Moses to make it that is what he did. It was a physical object like the Golden Cow, but God told the people to make it. The Ark helped the Israelites through tough times. It was so powerful that if certain people were to look at it they would die. One day the Israelites were taking the Ark to from Shiloh to Even–Ezra and it was captured by the Philistines. The Philistines then took it to one of their temples that worshipped their god Dagon. One day the Philistine checked on the covenant and found it turned upside down with one of the angels broken off. • 5. The People Of Israel As A Punishment The people of Israel began to worship idols; and as a punishment God allowed them once more to pass under the power of their enemies. The seventh oppression, which now fell upon Israel, was by far the hardest, the longest and the most widely spread of any, for it was over all the tribes. It came from the Philistines, a strong and warlike people who lived on the west of Israel upon the plain beside the Great Sea. They were blasphemy towards Yahweh Dagon, which was made in the form of a fish 's head on a man 's body. These people, the Philistines, sent their armies up from the plain beside the sea to the mountains of Israel and overran all the land. They took away from the Israelites all their swords and spears, so that they could not fight; and they robbed their land of all the crops, so that the people suffered for want of food. And as before, the Israelites in their trouble, cried out to the Lord, and the Lord heard their prayer. In the tribe–land of Dan, which was next to the country of the Philistines, there was living a man named Manoah. One day an angel came to his wife and said: "You shall have a son, and when he grows up he will begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines. But your son must never drink any wine or strong drink as long as he lives. And his hair must be allowed to grow long and must never be cut, for he shall be a Nazarite under a vow to the Lord." Keeping the promise with Yahweh, she conceived a son named Samson. Samson was abnormally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. God 's Covenants : An Important Characteristic Of The Book... God's Covenants An important characteristic of the Book of Joshua was God assuring Joshua that He would be with him (Josh. 1:9 New International Version). As long as Joshua lived, God would be with him, the same way He was with Moses, "As I was with Moses, I will be with you" (Josh. 1:5 and 3:7). Nobody would be able to stand up against him. Joshua was to be strong and courageous. He was also to be careful to adhere to God's law. He would be prosperous and fruitful if he carefully to it and meditated on it. Joshua was an example of the future Kings of Israel, one who kept the teaching of Moses in its entirety (Josh. 1:7–8, 11:15). God wanted Israel to conquer the land of Canaan and claim it for His glory. God's promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob would be fulfilled by Joshua and the Israelites when they arrived in the promised land flowing with milk and honey (Josh. 5:6). However, God gave Israel specific instructions that they had to complete in order for them to claim Canaan their own, revel in the covenant promises of God, or expect God to fight their battles. They had to renew the covenant with God in order for His blessings to be on them and guarantee their victory. The first command God gave the Israelites was that all the men were to be circumcised as a physical sign of the descendants of Abraham (Josh. 5:2–3). The rite of circumcision had not been practiced for 40 years because of the people's disbelief and disobedience (Josh. 5:6). Circumcision was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tophet In The Old Testament: Biblical Rasting Place Biblical Roasting Place Regrettably, due to the Phoenicians lack of ancient written history, the ability to interpret what exactly their rituals meant to them becomes unattainable. Still, this cruel practice apparently existed as unpleasant for the Carthaginian people due to their purchasing other offspring for sacrifices or even nurturing servant's kids to take their own children's places. Yet, in times of hardship or the catastrophe of crops failing or war, the priests would directly order the sacrifice of the local people's children. Various ceremonies during problematical times could kill up to two hundred children of the most affluent and powerful families, such as the political crisis of 310 B.C.; which preformed some five hundred killings. ... Ugarit became virtually forgotten until in 1928, when an Alawite peasant accidently exposed an ancient crypt while tilling the ground on the northern coast of Syria. The farmer became astounded to learn he had uncovered an ancient temple of Baal and the remains of a society that lived more than thirty–four centuries ago during the Bronze Age, a time reaching back to 6000 B.C. In addition, the excavations revealed the Necropolis of Ugarit belonged to the Semitic people, along with Byblos, Sidon, Tyre, Shechem, and Jerusalem; this area persists where ancient Canaan existed. Judges back then were deliverers chosen by God to deliver Israel's people from their enemies. Judges now are public officials chosen to decide cases in a court of law. Othniel The first well known judge in the Bible was Othniel. Othniel is first spoken about in Judges 1:13. Othniel is the son Kenaz who was the younger brother of Caleb. Othniel married Aksah the daughter of Caleb. God called on Othniel to rescue Israel because Israel weren't serving God they had been serving Baals & Asherahs. Deborah The forth judge was Deborah who was the first & only female judge in the Bible. Deborah was called upon by God to rescue the Israelites. The Israelites did evil so God put them in the hands of Jabin the king of Canaan who cruelly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years. Then the Israelites cried to God for help. Deborah was the wife of Lappidoth & was chosen by God to rescue the Israelites. Deborah sent for Barak the son of Abinoam into Naphtali & told him "The God of Israel commands you to go & take ten thousand men of Naphtali & Zebulun & lead them up to Mount Tabor. While I lead Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, with his chariots & his troops to the Kishon River & give him into your hands." & they did as was said. Barak pursued the chariots & his army & all of Sisera's troops fell onto their swords; not a man was left. Sisera on the other hand had left on foot to Jael's tent. Jael let Sisera enter & covered him with a blanket & gave him something to drink. Sisera told Jael to stand in the doorway to insure if anyone had come by & asked her if anyone was there say no. Jael took a tent peg & a hammer. While Sisera was fast asleep Jael drove a tent peg through Sisera's temple into the ground & he died. Categories Of Malware Concerns Malware Concerns The most compelling category of cyber–attacks is the malware, which negatively impacts the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of a network or system from attacks ranging from the network level up to the operating system level. Therefore, the organizations need to safeguard their network and system components at all possible levels, to avoid a possible malware intrusion (Stallings & Brown, 2012). Various critical categories of malware and their attacking patterns and approaches are comprehensively analyzed in this critical thinking paper. Additionally, one of the critical malware types is highlighted with examples of the various attacks that challenged supposedly well–secured organizations. Categories of Malware Stallings and Brown (2012) provided an excellent categorization of malware. The primary categories are derived on the basis of propagation and payloads, where propagation contains types such as infected content, for example, viruses; vulnerability exploits, for example, worms; and social engineering, for example, spam e–mails and Trojans. On the other hand, the payload contains types such as system corruption; attack agent, for example, zombie and botnets; information theft, for example, key–loggers, phishing, and spyware; and stealthing, for example, backdoors and rootkits (Stallings & Brown, 2012). Comparing Dagon, And The Picture In The House H.P Lovecraft's inability to construct an entity of the unknown without the suggestion of an unrelenting air of terror is acknowledged within Lovecraft's configuration of the weird tale. With reference to the quotation provided, ideas around the notion of fear and the unknown will be identified and explored in three of Lovecraft's stories: Dagon (1919), The Picture in the House (1920), and The Outsider (1926). This essay seeks to not only decipher the nature of the unknown presented within each story, but the nature of the fear in which each unknown entity provokes. While the unknown entity presented in Lovecraft's Dagon (1919) and The Picture in the House (1920), are subject to the narrator's fears, in The Outsider (1926), Lovecraft proposes ... The unknown adheres to, both entities perceived as physically grotesque, identified in Dagon (1919), as well as those which surpass the realm of the physical to take the form of abstract ideas, such as ignorance and alienation, identified in Lovecraft's The Picture in the House (1920) and The Outsider (1926). Comparing Shakespeare's Play, Hamlet and Milton's Play, Samson Agonistes: The Mental Awakenings of Hamlet and Samson In William Shakespeare's play Hamlet and in John Milton's play Samson Agonistes, both title characters undergo an intellectual metamorphosis, each becoming more and more aware of the power of his mind as he learns to master it. Despite a difference of almost 50 years between the writing of each of these plays, Hamelet being composed in 1601 and Samson Agonistes not being completed until circa 1646–1648, both reflect a preoccupation of the 17th century shared by both authors, the emergence of the mind and the human reason. Early in the play, Hamlet begins a process of self–doubt ("am I a coward?"), which is an important and necessary part of the awakening of one's mind for this questioning forces one's mind to know why every circumstance is as it is. He explained to me how important they were, he invited me inside and told me he had a job I may be interest in, he told me to look around the museum then speak to him when I was ready. He told me a lot of the history of the cult and showed me a lot of artefacts which he claimed were related to them, they certainly appear to have an evil aspect. Silus even admitted his family was in the mythic dawn, and one of his relatives was involved in the raid to kill the emperor mentioned in Nancy's diary. GUEST IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPLETION OF OBST 591 BY DECEMBER 12, 2011 The account of David and Goliath is one most often taught to children. Many adult believers heard the account while growing up. To move beyond the superficial aspect of the events, an in–depth analysis is needed. The narrative is a complex literary work with deep theological messages. The current paper will record a literary analysis of 1 Samuel 17:1–58 and then discuss the theology and applications that can be useful in the lives of the modern day believer. The nation of Israel had asked God for a king. God had allowed this and Saul was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Caleb confidently said that they should enter the land and take possession of it but the others were frightened. The account is similar to the men of Israel being terrified of Goliath and David being confident of God's ability to defeat him. The account of Dagon, the pagan god, in 1 Samuel 5:4 fallen on his face before the ark of the Lord is perhaps connected intertextually with Goliath, the pagan warrior, fallen on his face at the hand of David, God's servant. A couple of interpretative problems were identified. Why would Saul call David to play for him and settle his nerves in chapter 16 and then in chapter 17 not know David's father? Many explanations have been offered. Some of the more plausible ones include that Saul was mentally tormented and thus may not have recognized David. It should be pointed out that Saul did not ask David's name but the name of his father. Jesse was old and advanced in years at this time (1 Samuel 17:12). It is possible that Saul had never met Jesse. Saul had a reason to be interested in Jesse at this point because David killed Goliath and now his family would be exempt from taxes (v. 25). Another possibility is that this narrative originally may have been a separate account that the editor incorporated while compiling the books of Samuel. In essence, it does not follow in chronological order. The fact that the author deemed it necessary to record that David took five stones when

  • 26. Nicolas Poussin's The Plague At Ashdod The Plague at Ashdod is Nicolas Poussin's most frequently studied and celebrated plague paintings of the seventeenth century. The painting represents the Old Testament story from passages in the First Book of Samuel. According to the scriptures, the Philistines had stolen the Ark of the Covenant and brought it to the statue of Dagon. This angered God and he plagued the citizens of Ashdod with tumors and swarmed the territory with rats. In 1630, while Poussin worked on the painting, Italy was stricken with the worst outbreak of the bubonic plague. This had a major influence on his depiction of the Old Testament story. Sheila Barker's Poussin, Plague, and Early Modern Medicine offers the beliefs surrounding Poussin's medical and spiritual knowledge of the plague. Christine Boeckl's The Miracle of the Ark in the Temple of Dagon makes connections to literary and visual sources that influenced Poussin's painting. I learned that God does not always need a prophet to communicate with people. I always assumed that when God had something to say in the Old Testament, he spoke to one specific person, who then delivered God's message to the rest of the people. However, in 1 Samuel, chapter 5, God does not use a human being to communicate His will. • 36. Supernatural Intervention In H. P. Lovecraft's Dagon Divinely Inspired or Divinely Insane: Supernatural Intervention in Literature Throughout various genres of literature, divine or mystical intervention has played a pivotal role in revealing truths to man. In many cases, these truths prove to be too complex for the human mind to comprehend, resulting in characters to slowly become insane. The characters of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and Hamlet from their respective Shakespeare plays as well as the unnamed narrator in H.P. Lovecraft's short story Dagon express this belief as they each struggle to maintain sanity after their experiences with powerful, unknown forces. Supernatural beings play significant roles in several of Shakespeare's plays, but take on detrimental roles in many of his tragedies. They can be seen most prominently in what can coincidentally be considered his two most famous tragedies, Macbeth and Hamlet. While paranormal beings appear in forms of the "Weird Sisters" in Macbeth and the ghost of King Hamlet in Hamlet, John Gibson argues that they contribute to their plots differently. In his essay, Shakespeare's Use of the Supernatural, he argues that Hamlet's supernatural elements confirm a truth from the past, whereas in Macbeth to the future. Dr. John Charles ... H.P. Lovecraft is the lifeblood of France's ambient black metal quintet, The Great Old Ones. The Posture of Prayer: An Islamic and Christian Perspective Communication: The Basis of Life Islam, Judaism and Christianity are three of the world's great monotheistic faiths. They share not only many of the same holy sites, such as Jerusalem, and prophets and patriarchs, such as Abraham; but also the many practices and beliefs such as prayer, ablutions, and strong familial ties of the patriarch and others before him. Collectively, scholars refer to these three religions as the Abrahamic faiths, due to the fact that Abraham and his descendants are dynamic protagonists in the founding of these religions. The posture of prayer in our context deals with the physical posture as well as the spiritual posture and prostration of the body, mind, and spirit. Note that there are countless circumstances in the Bible where men and women not only bowed before Deity but also before those held in high esteem; whether it be to the king supreme or to the head of household; the showing of respect via the posture of prostrating was common in many circles. Most fascinating to me is Mark 3:11 that records: "Whenever the unclean spirits saw Him, they would fall down before Him and shout, "You are the Son of God!" The disciples declared in their peril on the sea, "What manner of man is this that even the wind and the waves obey Him. This idea is prevalent in many of H.P. Lovecraft's stories, such as "The Call of Cthulhu" and "The Colour out of Space." The idea of cosmism is relevant to "The Call of Cthulhu" because it portrays the fact that humans and the way in which they live their lives does not matter in the grand scheme of things. The idea of cosmism is also relevant to "The Colour out of Space," because it portrays a concept which shows that human life is so insignificant that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The creatures in this story have a few signifying features. One feature of these creatures is that they were unknown entities. For example, "From Beyond," states, "Indescribable shapes both alive and otherwise were mixed in disgusting disarray, and close to every known thing were whole worlds of alien, unknown entities" (10). The fact that these creatures are aliens, prove that they are not known to the human world. Another feature that these creatures have is that their physical features are very strange. For example, they are described as "Foremost among the living objects were great inky, jellyish monstrosities which flabbily quivered in harmony with the vibrations from the machine. They were present in loathsome profusion, and I saw to my horror that they overlapped; that they were semi–fluid and capable of passing through one another and through what we know as solids. " (11). Similar to the Dagon, the creatures in this story resemble sea creatures. Also, this description shows that these creatures have the ability to pass through solid objects. This is out of this world because nothing in this dimension possesses the power to pass through solid objects. The creatures in this story are entities that are not blind to the human world. According to the story, the creatures can see the scientists just as easily as they can see them. This story ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 62. H.P. Lovecraft's 'Dagon': Summary and Analysis Dagon is a short story written by the American horror and fantasy writer H.P. Lovecraft in 1917. The story began with an unknown narrator telling the story of his abduction by the German sea–raiders. Later on, the protagonist continues the story of his successful escape in a small boat from these sea– raiders. After being lost for days in the sea, the man became haunted by his dreams, nightmares, and delusions. He told the story of how he was asleep and unexpectedly found himself in the middle of a black mire in the middle of the ocean after his boat had drifted. He went into the mire in an attempt to find dry land, a ship, or someone who can help him. He found a white monolithic statue with aquatic hieroglyphics on it and a giant creature looks like a giant fish worshiping it. He then starts his hallucination where he says that he ran back to his boat singing and laughing. Afterwards, he woke up in San Francisco hospital and knew that a ship saved him. Due to his hallucinations and nightmares, he became a morphine addict and he wrote this story as his suicide letter. Dagon is written in a very distinctive way that identifies Lovecraft's writing style. It is chaotic and sounds like the blabbering of a madman. The beginning of Dagon was definitely an attention getter, yet what followed later was incongruous. The story is dark, ornate, complicated, and Lovecraft description is reminiscent. It is also filled with pathos, mostly fear. It is chaotic with a lot of emotional exaggeration in it. The sense of horror was intense along with agonizing feelings, loathing, and overwhelming. This is shown in the words Lovecraft used like nauseating fear, vague horror, awestruck, and terror. Dagon was also filled with unnecessary information and unnecessary description in most of its parts. The language used added to the story. Word choices like "putrid with the carcasses of decaying fish" and "unutterable hideousness" are undoubtedly unique. "Fathomless chaos of eternal night" and "through my terror ran curious reminiscence" along with "slimy expanse of hellish black mire" are other examples of the strong language Lovecraft used in most of his writings (Lovecraft, 1917). • 66. John Milton's Paradise Lost Essay John Milton's Paradise Lost John Milton's Paradise Lost is filled with fantastical tales from the depths of Hell, extravagant descriptions of the fallen angels, and a curious recitation of the council of demons in their new palace. How did Milton dream up such vivid depictions of such horrible demons as the ones we see in Book I? Most of his fallen angels originate in the form of Pagan gods condemned by the Bible, with actual historical backgrounds which Milton cites in his lengthy descriptions. Firstly, a few words about Satan would seem prudent, as he is the first of the fallen angels, the leader in the revolt, and the first to venture to earth to corrupt mankind. He is Milton's main character, and the only one to extend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Old Testament leaves hints as to Satan's character, while the New Testament states outright how Satan came to be. It began with his dissent from God's will "And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him" (Revelation 12:7–9) Milton's knowledge of the Bible is proved beyond the context of the battle in heaven with the creation of the other angels, all of whom have origins "adorned with gay religions full of pomp and gold, and devils to adore for deities: Then were they known to men by various names, and various idols through the heathen world" (Paradise Lost & Other Poems 103). Moloch, the "horrid King besmear'd with blood of human sacrifice and parents tears" (103) is the first to ascend from the lake after Beelzebub and Satan. He was a god whose altars were filled with "the noyse of drums and timbrels loud" so that parents' "childrens cries [went] unheard that past through fire to his grim idol" (103). • 68. Great Old Ones Research Paper Great Old Ones The Great Old Ones are a group of cosmic beings created by 1920's horror author Howard Philips Lovecraft. They are primarily antagonists in his stories to the human protagonists, and usually are victorious since they are extremely powerful. This pantheon of god–like beings has been referenced in many pieces of media and literature, as they are the pinnacle of the cosmic and Lovecraftian horror subgenres. The first story to ever feature these beings was "Dagon", written in 1917 and was the breakout story for Lovecraft. It's plot involved a mentally unstable marine officer writing a letter about the horrors he witnessed while his ship was captured by German sea–raiders, then proceeded to crash onto an unknown island, which was filled with dead carcasses, weird obelisks, and fish–like people. The story ends when the officer writes about an amphibian hand on his window, implying that he was then killed by the creature. This story featured a Great Old One who would later be named "Father Dagon", leader of an alien race named the Deep Ones ("Howard"). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, during a celebration of conquering Ib, Bokrug rose once again with his army of lizard–like people, and then killed all the inhabitants of Ib, known as the Thuum'ha. • 70. The Reason Why Israel Wanted A King During the time of Samuel, the nation of Israel desired to have a king for many reasons. Ultimately, Saul was chosen and rejected, and was succeeded by David, who became a better king than Saul. Unfortunately, after David's death, Israel was divided due to a sin committed by Solomon. Let's begin by looking at why Israel desired a king. The main reason why Israel wanted a king was to be "like all the other nations" (Hindson and Yates 2012). "Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah and said to him, "Behold, you are old and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations" (1 Sam 8:4–5 ESV). According to the scriptures, the elders thought that Samuel was too old and his sons did not have the same walk with God that Samuel had. The Israelites not only wanted a king, but a king who would judge them (1 Sam 8:6). The Lord tells Samuel to make them a king since they reject the Lord, but they do not reject Samuel (1 Sam 8:7). Despite God's warnings delivered through Samuel, Israel chose Saul as their first king. Saul was chosen by God to be the king, according to the scriptures (1 Sam 9:17). The Lord told Samuel, "Here is the man of whom I spoke to you! He it is who shall restrain my people" (1 Sam 9:17). When Samuel gathers the people together, he reiterates how Israel has rejected God and demanded a king by saying, "But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your calamities and ... • 72. Botnet Detection And Analysis Of Cyber Security ISSUE: BOTNET DETECTION AND ANALYSIS. Introduction A botnet, otherwise known as "zombie army," is a group of computers that are compromised or controlled often from a single source a human operator known as a "Botmaster," and run related software programs or scripts [1]. In contrast with the previous malware, botnets have the characteristic of a command and control (C & C) channel, and use existing common protocols, such as IRC and HTTP [1]. Botnets provide a distributed platform for many cyber–crimes such as Distributed Denial of Service attacks against critical targets, malware dissemination, phishing, and click fraud. All these together make botnet detection and mitigation an important and challenging problem in cyber–security. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are similar to the fields that Feily et al. used [1]. Anomaly–Based Detection Anomaly–Based techniques attempt to detect computer intrusions and misuse by monitoring system activity and classifying it as either normal or anomalous[1]. Anomaly based detection techniques solve the problem of detecting unknown bots based on the traffic anomalies such as high network latency, high volumes of traffic, traffic on unusual ports, and unusual system behavior[1]. Nevertheless this technique meets the problem of detecting unknown botnets[1,2]. Anomaly based detection techniques are classified into two categories: host–based and network based techniques[2]. BotSwat, proposed by Stinson and Mitchell, is a host based taint tracking system to discover the programs that take advantage of the received network data to identify the potential remote control behavior. Limitation with the host based approach is its high false positive rate[2]. The network based technique tries to detect botnets based on the network traffic monitoring. BotProbe uses the active monitoring techniques which can actively participate in the network session, and if required can inject test packets to the client that is under monitoring. This technique shows promise on the real–world IRC based botnet detection[2]. Passive network monitoring uses some devices to inspect the traffics as they pass by. An effective algorithm proposed by Binkley and Singh combines TCP–based anomaly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Impact Of Modern Property Development On People The Impact Of Modern Property Development On People Chapter 1 Introduction "Modernity is what gives the present the specific quality that makes it different from the past and points the way toward the future. Modernity is also described as being a break with tradition" (Hilde Heynen, 1999). When it comes to building modern city, tall buildings, high towers, skyscrapers and big construction play a major part. The arise of these kind of modern development resident depends partly on the world population and land shortage. According to Gregory Hodkinson, almost half the percentage of the world population is living in the cities and by the year 2050, the figure continue to increase to 70%. Figure 1 World Urbanization Prospects: The 2014 Revision, shows that the population of the world living in the urban area tend to increase gradually whereas the population in rural area stop rising since the year 2000. Due to the increasing of population and land shortage in urban area, tall building becomes one of the major phenomenon that the world, especially some major cities are facing (H. Hayati, M.H. Sayadi, 2012). Big construction has negative impact on the environment such as pollution, reduce the people in the area to get fresh air and sunlight but the massive emergence of high buildings is much of a trend during these days due to the need of space and industrial demand.
