A community is formed when more than two people share values and connections over time, developing rituals, traditions, and communication that distinguish them from others. Communities depend on each other to survive and thrive. For example, the Old Order Amish Mennonite community defines members' identities and is their source of strength and reason to sustain their way of life. Communities are shaped by outside forces from government, corporations, and internal components that vary and change over time, making no two communities the same.
