The Community Events Facilities Committee of Clear Vision Eau Claire will announce the results of its community events facilities study on June 30th. The committee studied the potential creation of community events facilities as identified during Clear Vision's strategic planning process. The committee conducted interviews and surveys to gather information on the types of events people want to attend, what facilities are needed, and potential funding sources. The results will focus on three potential facilities: an arts center, convention center, and major events center.

There are several environmental factors that can reduce the liveability of a place. These include natural hazards, conflicts, population pressures, land degradation, and pollution from overconsumption. Pollution in particular comes from various sources in cities and rural areas and can harm air and water quality. This affects communities' liveability. A case study analysis explores these issues through investigating the air and water quality of a specific city, such as levels of pollution and their impacts. Improving environmental conditions can increase a city's liveability.

2011 IAP2 Cascade Chapter Best Practices Awards
The Lake Oswego Interceptor Sewer Upgrade project involved replacing a 3-mile sewer line below Oswego Lake. To gain public support for the $110 million project, the team provided timely information to address concerns about costs, disruptions, and the innovative design. Over 5,000 citizens in Beaverton, Oregon shared their visions for the future through various engagement methods to develop the Beaverton Community Vision plan. The Portland Development Commission conducted over 600 stakeholder interviews to inform the North/Northeast Economic Development Initiative and address concerns about displacement.
Jamestown Mall: Strategies for Transforming and Reinventing Jamestown Mall
The ULI panel was asked to evaluate the viability of redeveloping the struggling Jamestown Mall site in North St. Louis County, Missouri. The panel determined that the area could no longer support a full-scale enclosed mall. They recommended transforming the site into a mixed-use town center called "Lindbergh Place", with retail, offices, housing, entertainment and community uses. The panel provided examples of successful redevelopment projects and strategies for public-private partnerships to fund infrastructure improvements needed for the transformation.

The Lake Oswego Interceptor Sewer Upgrade project involved replacing a 3-mile sewer line below Oswego Lake. To gain public support for the $110 million project, the team provided timely information to address concerns about costs, disruptions, and the innovative design. Over 5,000 citizens in Beaverton, Oregon shared their visions for the future through various engagement methods to develop the Beaverton Community Vision plan. The Portland Development Commission conducted over 600 stakeholder interviews to inform the North/Northeast Economic Development Initiative and address concerns about displacement.
Jamestown Mall: Strategies for Transforming and Reinventing Jamestown Mall
The ULI panel was asked to evaluate the viability of redeveloping the struggling Jamestown Mall site in North St. Louis County, Missouri. The panel determined that the area could no longer support a full-scale enclosed mall. They recommended transforming the site into a mixed-use town center called "Lindbergh Place", with retail, offices, housing, entertainment and community uses. The panel provided examples of successful redevelopment projects and strategies for public-private partnerships to fund infrastructure improvements needed for the transformation.

This document summarizes a longitudinal study from 2004-2008 that examined the relationship between cultural tourism development and residents' quality of life in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Generation Foundation is providing a $50,000 grant to OneCleveland to expand its ultra-broadband community network throughout Northeast Ohio. OneCleveland operates a fiber optic network that is over 1,000 times faster than conventional broadband. The expansion will connect additional schools, libraries, and community centers to provide free internet access and digital resources to more residents. The Generation Foundation hopes this initiative establishes the region as a leader in digital inclusion and provides economic benefits.

Civic Engagement in Eau Claire

Re-Imagining the Canal Walk Experience
In August of 2019, the City of Indianapolis, through the Department of Metropolitan Development and the Department of Public Works, published a Request for Qualifications looking for potential Placemaking partners. As described in the document, it meant an opportunity to craft and deliver a holistic, world-class public space experience for all those who live, work, and play in Indianapolis. The mission of the City was to engage and enliven four signature downtown public spaces through community collaboration, creativity, and interaction. The Herron graduate program in Design was invited to be part of this initiative by investigating the people’s experience in the Downtown Canal Walk. The project was conducted in the course setting of the Collaborative Action Research in Design class. Research activities began in the Fall of 2019 and continued through the Spring 2020 semester. By following a human-centered design approach, the research team studied people’s perspectives and experiences in the Canal Walk and public spaces of Indianapolis. This report aims to serve as an instrument to inform stakeholders of this initiative and contribute to delivering a holistic, world-class public space experience for all those who live, work, and play in Indianapolis.

This inaugural Community Renewal International Think Tank brought together leaders in transformative work related to the eight elements of CRI's community model. Over two intense days, participants shared their work, identified connections between efforts, and explored partnerships. They also began outlining design principles to shape environments supporting CRI's work in building caring relationships. Initial agreements were made to connect various initiatives and formalize collaboration between CRI, I-Open, and academic partners. The Think Tank proved an effective method for refining CRI's model and expanding its network of relationships.

June 29, 2011 Contact: Mike Rindo 715-836-4742 rindomj@uwec.edu Clear Vision Eau Claire to Announce Results of Community Events Facilities Study For Immediate Release The Community Events Facilities Committee of Clear Vision Eau Claire will announce the results of a community events facilities study Thursday, June 30 at 6:00 p.m. in the Eau Claire River Room of the RCU Corporate Office, 200 Riverfront Terrace, Eau Claire. The committee was formed to study the potential creation of community events facilities identified during the Clear Vision community strategic visioning process. Three key performance areas involved in Clear Vision planning (Quality of Life, Economic Development and Civic Engagement) identified the creation of community events facilities as important to the future well-being of the Greater Eau Claire Community. The committee conducted one-on-one interviews with individuals in the community and surveys of people attending various community and cultural events. Information gathered by the committee includes the kinds of events people want to attend in Eau Claire, including those not currently offered; what kinds of events facilities are needed to host such events; whether there are currently adequate facilities in Eau Claire to host such events; and how community events facilities, if built, might be funded. The information gathered by the committee focuses on three potential community events facilities (or a combination thereof): an arts center, a convention center, and a major events center. The committee was comprised of representatives from the arts, business, tourism, and non-profit groups as well as local elected officials. It was led by Ben Richgruber, Executive Director of the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center, Linda John, Executive Director of Visit Eau Claire, and Mike Rindo, Assistant Chancellor for Facilities at UW-Eau Claire.
