What’s involved: We are organising a volunteer day at Hebburn School in Newcastle for the day. In the morning we will be working with children to help them create a design for a wall in their school. About 2pm we will then choose the best design and then head back to Uni. The winning design will then be enlarged using the printer in Athena and then put on the wall in the school. The winner will get a certificate at their school assembly. What’s in it for you: A chance to gain a recognised certificate from the university volunteers programme to add to your CV from a design related subject. We need to know how people would like to come so we can arrange transport, the cost of transport will be less than £10 per person.

The Christopher Stevens Youth Network/CE2.0 –iEARN Jordan Workshop
February 23rd, 2013
iEARN-Jordan conducted a training workshop on February 23rd, 2013 as part of the Christopher Stevens Youth Network: Global Connections 2.0. Fifteen educators from Jordan, Kuwait and the USA participated in the workshop. Ms. Khitam Al-Utaibi, iEARN-Jordan Representative delivered the training on two parts. The first part of the workshop was about learning what is iEARN and take a tour in some of the 300 online projects. After teachers were introduced to iEARN, they had hands on training on some of the essential aspects in Project-Based Learning as well as engaging teachers in some activities related to building skills in grouping strategies, debate strategies and tuning protocols in projects. iEARN International celebrates this year its 25th Anniversary and iEARN-Jordan celebrated this occasion with all participants in the presence of all attendees with a cake that has the logos of the US Department of State, iEARN-Jordan, GCE and the iEARN International logo for the 25th Anniversary.

There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.

- 2. CommuniTees Introduction... “Design is for everyone” We believe it is important to encourage young people to engage with design. More over, to see their designs implemented and presented to the public. Our project will provide this opportunity to young children, giving them a chance to personalise their school environment through Art.
- 3. CommuniTees What? We plan to carry out a design competition for a local comprehensive school. Students will be asked to design a piece of artwork that they feel will improve an area within the building. For example, colourful artwork to brighten up a dark corridor. The winning design will be chosen by a panel of judges, ourselves and the teachers, it will then be presented on a larger scale in the chosen area for all to see.
- 4. CommuniTees Who? Target Audience: Year 7 Design & Technology students from Hebburn Comprehensive School Design Team: CommuniTees Judging Panel: CommuniTees & Hebburn Comprehensive Teachers
- 5. CommuniTees Where? The students will be asked to choose an area within the school, this could be anything from a corridor, classroom, hall or reception area. They must then design an appropriate piece of artwork that they feel will improve the space
- 6. CommuniTees When? 1st – 15th December: Competition date to be decided 9am – 12pm: Students produce their design for the artwork 12pm – 1pm: Judging panel will decide the winning design 2pm – 3pm: Winner announced, award & prize presented Following week: Design printed on A1 Canvas and mounted in chosen area
- 7. CommuniTees How? We plan to work closely with Volun-tees in order to make this project successful Communication with Hebburn Comprehensive School is essential, we are already discussing the details of this event with Niall Anderson (Head Teacher) and plan to approach the school council in the coming weeks for confirmation of a date. Working with Teesside Student Union, we plan to organise fund raising events to raise money for the implementation of the design.
