This document provides an abstract for a conference paper that compares decision-making methods for determining the success or failure of software development projects. The abstract indicates that traditionally, judgments about project success have been subjective based on stakeholder questionnaires and interviews. However, quantitative data about software projects in Japan has been collected, allowing the development of diagnostic techniques to objectively decide project success using discriminant analysis. The conference paper presented in the abstract aims to develop a model for estimating a defined "success degree" of projects and a technique for judging success or failure based on the success degree. It proposes comparing the effectiveness of this new technique to discriminant analysis techniques for objective project evaluation.
