Debrecen is the second largest city in Hungary, located in the northeast of the country. It has a population of over 220,000 people and is the capital of Hajdú-Bihar county. Two important landmarks in Debrecen are the Great Church, built between 1805 and 1820 as a symbol of the Hungarian Reformation, and the University of Debrecen, founded in 1912, which many important historical figures attended.

4.  Built between 1805 and 1820, the Great
Church is the symbol of Debrecen and
Hungarian Reformation. The
dethronement of the Habsburgs' was
declared here on the 14th April 1849.
 Building work started under the
supervision of architect Mihály Péchy,
who also designed the Reformed
College here.
 This beautiful building stands next to our
school.

7. It is located in the heart of Debrecen.
The present building was built in 1915 according to the
design of Alfréd Hajós, Hungary's first Olympic Champion.

9.  Great number of writers, scientists and politicians
received their education at the university.
 The University was officially inaugurated on October 23,
1918 and at that time consisted of four faculties: Arts,
Science, Theology and Medicine.

11. The Spa of the Big Forest opened in 1960.
There are many thermal pools an area of 11 000 m2.

from 26 to 38°C.
