Black feminism recognizes that sexism, class oppression, gender identity and racism are interconnected. The term "intersectionality" was coined in 1989 to describe how these concepts relate. The document also defines "antebellum" as occurring before the US Civil War and notes that the Black Is Beautiful and Blackgirlmagic movements began as efforts to inspire fighting for equal rights.
