The average aircraft generates
217,500 pages of paper over its service
lifecycle costing the industry $3.9
billion over the next 30 years.
The Paper Challenge
Paperless ticketing was universally implemented over a decade ago. The
regulations, processes and technology to "go paperless" in MRO operations have
been in place for over a decade. Your organization:
A) Is 100% paperless
B) Is implementing solutions to be paperless by the end of 2017
C) Is actively planning on becoming paperless within 24 months but has not allocated capital or
resources to a project
D) Would like to become paperless at some point in the future but not currently planning a
specific projects
E) Is not planning on becoming paperless

Current defect monitoring solutions
represent a $0.4 Billion market - with
Predictive Maintenance and Autonomics
estimated to exceed $3.2 Billion.
The Data Challenge
To what extent do you agree that aircraft sensor data, maintenance data,
operations data, … exceeds most company's ability to effectively and efficiently
use it to perform advanced analytics to improve business processes and value?
A) Strongly agree - data volume, velocity, variety and, or veracity exceeds our ability to
effectively and efficiently drive business value
B) Agree
C) Neutral
D) Disagree
E) Strongly disagree - our organization easily leverages disparate data sources, volume, velocity,
variety and veracity to deliver advanced analytics and business value

Dissimilar data standards and
interoperability cost the aviation industry
$7.3 billion over the past 20 years.
The Standards Challenge
ATA SPEC 2500 and ASD S5000F are industry initiatives to standardize the digital
exchange of sensor, configuration, maintenance, and lease data among industry
stakeholders. To what extent is your organization knowledgeable of and engaged
with these initiatives?
A) Never heard of these standards
B) Heard of these standards | not currently pursuing any B2B initiatives in 2017
C) Generally familiar with these standards | considering these B2B initiatives over the next 24
months.
D) Generally familiar with these standards | planning implementing during 2017.
E) Very familiar with these standards | currently piloting these B2B now

No Fault Found (NFF) cost airlines an
estimated $185,000 per aircraft per
year (~$1.5B commercial + $~2B military per year, not including
schedule and passenger experience impacts).
The Prediction Opportunity
Which Predictive Maintenance capabilities are used in your organization:
A) Basic time-series forecasting, reliability rates, or resource forecasting (usually performed in
spreadsheets)
B) Case Based Reasoning Diagnostics / Troubleshooting
C) Machine Learning (ML) prediction
D) Resource Optimized Prescription
E) Component level Prognostics
F) Aircraft level Prognostics
G) Asset level health scoring
H) Asset Performance Management (real time operational and financial)
I) Enterprise Autonomic Fleet Management

Dispatch delays cost the airline industry
$8.3 billion annually.
The Digital Thread Opportunity
What are the major barriers are preventing your company from closing gaps in the
digital thread and employing advanced analytical optimization solutions?
How we are meeting that challenge:
GE Aviation and Capgemini are working together to bring Configuration Data
Exchange to market. Both teams are focused on customer engagements,
implementation services and accelerating adoption and business process for the
industry.

GE Configuration Data Exchange (CDE)
The Configuration Data Exchange connects aviation companies and allows for the
digital exchange of key operations, maintenance and configuration data. In basic
terms, this can be thought of as a data pipeline that will allow for two-way asset
data flow between airlines, MROs, lessors, OEMs and parts brokers, and it will be
agnostic to the various IT systems of record.
