As part of my role at Provar I get asked to investigate when our customer's tests are seen to be failing in order to diagnose whether the fault is in Salesforce or a missing feature of Provar. I've learned the astonishing ways in which people are publishing code for Lightning Components without basic error handling to a point I'd argue is irresponsible! This led me down a deeper and deeper rabbit hole which, like Alice, I'd like to share so you can all safely reach the Lightning Wonderland!

Unit testing coverage is a great way to show us the amount of tested lines and branches of code, but is this really enough? The answer is "no" since unit testing coverage does not really fully measure the efficiency of the unit tests. This is why there is a need for using techniques that can improve unit tests efficiency. Mutation testing is one of these powerful techniques. The main idea of mutation testing is to automatically insert bugs (mutants) into production code and then run unit tests to check if they are strong enough to fail as a result of these mutations. This session discusses mutation testing techniques and demonstrates Stryker as a powerful mutation testing tool for JavaScript applications.

The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
