American Public University System Air Force Information Technology Service Management
through Remedy The United States Air Force manages a global network supporting over eight
hundred thousand users (Gibson Fair, n.d.). Administering a network on that scale requires an
organized approach to providing IT services to a vast customer base. Information Technology (IT)
Service Management is the framework and imbedded processes by which an IT organization both
manages the services it provides and delivers those services to customers (Drogseth, 2015). The Air
Force utilizes the Remedy system to automate Service Management functions for its enterprise
network. Remedy provides the various system users with multiple features to streamline and
optimize their respective Service Management functions to include the Network Help Desk (United

my organization, the Incident Management and Change Management Consoles are the most used
by far. For the purposes of this essay, the Incident Management Console will be the example since
both consoles contain the same general features. The Incident Management Console provides the
user interface to create, route, modify and gather statistics on all Incident Tickets. Incidents are
those types of work requests that involve some kind of network outage. When the console is
opened, the user is taken to a home page that is divided into two main sections. The smaller section
on the left contains menu links to the various functions that can be performed within Incident
Management. The majority of the screen is titled My Console and provides a pared down but

unit 12 public health p1 and p2
P1 Meaning of Public Health: Public health is concerned with improving the health of population,
rather than treating the diseases of individual patients. If a condition has been discovered they want
to make sure they live longer by promoting and preventing diseases and complications. Public health
is everyone around you and the involvement of the community. If public health is really effective
then it will also help the NHS save money. Monitoring the health status of the community: When we
are monitoring the health status of the community we are trying to identify and solve the certain

Immunisation and other control measures are put in place to control them so that the diseases
do not affect the whole population. This also may include food hygiene measures in restaurants
and takeaways to control the spread of food poising. Communicable disease is carried out by
microorganisms and then transmitted through people, animals, foods and pollution. In the UK,
the government promotes health related points such as five a day this promotes to eat five fruit
or vegetable a day, do regular exercise, eat a balanced diet. When people have a baby they are
advised that they should take their child too regular check ups and it is important to get their
immunisation as it will protect the child from infectious disease. A way the government control
diseases in the population is by planning and evaluating the health and social care provision, they
do this by assessing the services that are being provided and see if they are helping problems
that take place. It is also important that when infectious diseases have come up, it is a legal
requirement that it is reported to the appropriate people, by doing this measures can be put in
place to stop them spreading. An example for this is when diseases such as Tuberculosis (TB) and
Measles are diagnosed or suspected, the local medical officer is responsible for monitoring the
disease and

Analysis Of The Poem Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
Lizabeth Analysis Essay
In beginning of Marigolds, by Eugenia Collier, Lizabeth is indirectly characterized childish and
disrespectful as she shows that doesn t really care about anybody other than herself. In the story,
Lizabeth mentions an event in which she did not act like a child and calls it devastating Since
Lizabeth finds the idea of maturing devastating, Lizabeth s motivation is that she does not want to
grow up. Since she does not want to grow up, she creates an internal conflict for herself. As the
story progresses, Lizabeth and her friends are looking for something to do and they come to the
idea to terrorize their neighbor, Miss Lottie. The story states, The idea caught on at once, for

Lizabeth begins to talk about what her family life is like. The passage states, I did not notice my
father s silence, for he was always silent these days, nor did I notice my mother s absence, for she
always worked well into evening. (220). Lizabeth s family life has a huge influence on why she
does not want to grow up. Seeing what her parents have to live through prevent her from having
any hope and indirectly characterizes her as hopeless. That night, Lizabeth hears her parents
arguing about how hard living is. She hears her father break down into tears (221). This was the
last straw for Lizabeth. After hearing what her parents had to say in their conversation, she comes
to the conclusion that if her life is not fair, then the life of others should not be fair either. The
conclusion that Lizabeth comes to indirectly characterizes her as depressed as she feels as if her
life is empty. Her conclusion also further develops Lizabeth s self centered character trait. Although
there are people that have life worse than Lizabeth, she does not view it that way.
At the end of the story, Lizabeth changes into a better person as she begins to learn the same
philosophy Miss Lottie lived by. Since Lizabeth views her life as an epitome of failure, she decides
to make Miss Lottie s one as well. After Lizabeth hears her parents arguing, she decides to destroy
all of Miss Lottie s hope by destroying her marigolds. She destroys a good

The Importance Of Realism In The Film The King Of Kong
In the film, The King of Kong, realist aesthetics are used to give the audience a view of the real
world and create the deeper meaning that if something doesn t look like it is real than it is
ultimately flawed and inaccurate. Compared to this, formalist aesthetics that are used in the film,
Wreck It Ralph, are not only utilized to present a whole new world that is exaggerated visually, but
to primarily produce a vision that creates a deeper meaning and tone that is far from realistic.
The cinematography that is being displayed in the film, The King of Kong, is what is known as
deep focus cinematography. In the documentary, there are many instances where there is a lot of
space in front of the camera, consisting of space and people, that is in clear focus and only
partially distorted in some areas that are mainly difficult to identify. The foreground, middle
ground, and background will all be in crisp focus. For example, when Steve Wiebe is playing
Donkey Kong at Funspot, Steve is presented clearly in the foreground as well as the many
people and gaming consoles in the middle ground and background. This type of cinematography
is used to present to the audience something that they can essentially relate to on a personal and
real level. Each part of the image is in focus to give off the notion that everything that is being
seen is like what is seen in a real world situation. On the other hand, expressive cinematography is
what is utilized in the film, Wreck It Ralph. This type of cinematography is characterized by
using fast or slow motion, whether it be with an object or person. When a person or object in the
film is sped up it is usually in order to represent a lapse of a large amount of time. For example,
when Ralph is talking about the new games that appear over time in the arcade, the people and
gaming consoles speed up and alter with the lapse of time. Opposite of this is when time and
space are slowed down. For instance, when Felix saves Sergeant Calhoun and himself from dying
in the Nesquik Sand they in turn gaze into each other s eyes. Slow motion is used in this instance to
intensify built up romantic emotions and of course expand time. This type of cinematography is
used to give the audience

Body-Checks In Hockey
Stephen McKichan, a goaltender for the Milwaukee Admirals, suffered a career altering injury
during December 15, 1990 minor league hockey game against the Peoria Rivermen. The injury
occurred during the third period of the game when the Rivermen skater, Tony Twist, body
checked McKichan; rendering the goaltender unconscious as a result (Breitenbucher, 1990, p. 7).
The body check occurred both during a play stoppage and after a referee had twice blown his
whistle to signal a stoppage in play. Twist was ejected from the game almost immediately after the
incident and would later be levied an indefinite suspension by IHL, the league in which the teams
play. Body checks are common in the game of hockey and don t usually result in criminal or civil...

appeal, the appellate also had to consider if the plaintiff, by the very nature of his participation in
the game, had both consented to and understood the risk of actions like those that ultimately caused

The Marketing Strategy Of Marco Gianni Shoes Essay
In Marco Gianni Shoes case, basically, the owners did not have any marketing strategy. Because in
order to create a marketing strategy, there are four necessary aspects that must be considered.
First of all, the operators must be aware of their target market and what kind of product they
intend to provide to their target customers. And the next step is to make a decision about what
kind of relationship do the operators intend to form with their customers or suppliers. Thirdly, in
order to create this strategy, what level of investment is required and how will the operators
allocate and locate the required resources. Finally the operators must have detailed objectives and
action plans (David, 2015a).
It is clear that the operators of Marco Gianni Shoes did not consider all of these four aspects.
Marco Gianni Shoes opened in a fashion center of Auckland, it is a fantastic location, plenty of
customers passing by their store every day. But the owners Leo and Josth really messed up with
their market positioning. They never considered what customer segmentation they are going to
focus. And they did not think about what are the appropriate products for this customer
segmentation. So the shop was made by an Italian designed images, low price shoes that are coming
from Chinese manufacture and a very horrible indoor decoration which does not fit the high street
environment.
For the second aspect, Leo and Josth had no intention to build any relationship with both their

Mozart And Haydn Comparison
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Joseph Haydn are two of the many great classical composers
of their time. Although some of their work may have been underappreciated at the time, their music
is greatly acknowledged, if not well known, today. Both composers were from Austria, and both
created beautiful classical music. However, there are notable differences in their pieces. This could
be due to their personalities, historical context, or instruments of preference. Franz Joseph Haydnis
called the Father of the Symphony. He displayed talent in music from a very early age and at
eight years old he was accepted as a choirboy at Stephen s Cathedral in Vienna. This was just the
beginning of his lengthy career, since he lived to be seventy seven years old. According to the
textbook, in total Haydn composed twelve operas, more than a hundred symphonies, around
seventy string quartets, more than fifty keyboard sonatas, and a large amount of choral music,
songs, and chamber music. When it comes to Haydn s music, the people of his time would say that
he composed lively music. This could be labeled as underappreciation since Haydn s compositions
included quite innovative and unique qualities, which were admired by many composers after him
(including Mozart). Haydn s operas were also special in that he explored emotions in a wider
range. Haydn also invented what is called false recapitulation, which meant that he would arrange
the music in such a way that it seemed

The Importance of International Commercial Arbitration Essay
Introduction
International commercial arbitration is one of the most important legal institutions in international
private law. This conclusion follows from the fact that the nature of arbitration depends largely on
autonomy of the parties, who choose arbitration procedure as the procedure in which the dispute
will be settled; place where the arbitration is to be held; arbitral tribunal etc. Probably the most
important and considerable expression of the autonomy is the right to choose the law, which is to
be applied to merits of the dispute. The chosen applicable law guarantees in large measure
predictability of the outcome of the case and allows parties to control the scope of interpretation
and application of the international commercial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subject of the research is the law applicable in international commercial arbitration. The paper
will first deal with the law applicable to arbitration agreement. Secondly, the question of
determination of law applicable to the merits of the dispute will be brought up including the case
when the intention of the parties can be found and the situation when there is absence of the choice
of law made by the parties. The significance of the selected research topic can be explained by the
fact that international commercial arbitral proceedings is widely used by the parties of commercial
transactions as the effective method of dispute settlement and the issue of applicable law to the
merits of the dispute is one of the main which the arbitral tribunal has to decide.
Conclusion
The nature of international commercial arbitration has a close connection to the party autonomy,
which is also expressed in the right of the parties to choose the law that is to be applied by the
arbitrators to the dispute between them. The same right is given to the parties concerning the
arbitration agreement.
Firstly, the choice of law applicable to the substance of the dispute which the parties have made
can be either express or implied and if such choice took place the arbitrators have to apply it.
Without any indications concerning choice of applicable law, an arbitral tribunal has to determine
such law through the searching of proper

Automated Customer Service Essay
Automated Customer Service: Advantages Outweigh Disadvantages
The marketplace in the world today is more competitive than ever before. Businesses are trying to
increase profits and lower operating costs. Stockholders are insisting that companies make money,
thus increasing their stock portfolios. Consumers are busier than at any point in the history of man.
They work longer hours and try to squeeze more extracurricular activities into their evenings. Into
this arena has come the automated customer service system.
Automated customer service has brought many advantages to today s businessmen and consumer
alike. It has decreased consumer waiting times, enabled businesses to lower operating costs, and
eliminated the middleman. While it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That s all gone away with the automated attendant. A few clicks of the button and the consumer has
accessed their account, completed their transaction, or received the information needed. For those
instances when a correction is needed or an error has been identified, most legitimate businesses
have included an option that allows the consumer to speak with an operator. This enables the
consumer the best of both worlds. Those who prefer to speak to a living breathing person have that
ability, while those who wish to have the capability of conducting their transaction without human
interference have their prayers answered.
In an increasingly fast paced world the automated customer servant can be a godsend. Yes, there
are problems with the system. There are bugs that through new technology and innovation will
hopefully be worked out. How many people thought the first automobile was nothing more than a
confounded contraption that was just as likely to blow up on you as get you where you wanted
to go? I would imagine there were thousands, even millions of people who felt this way. We live
in an imperfect world and in this imperfect world no new innovations are error free, and it is a
given that most people resist change. However, with most people looking for ways to save time so
that they can squeeze in that thirty minute workout or make it to their oldest sons baseball game,
the automated attendant innovation is one of the best options available. In

Analysis Of The Closing Of A Facility Essay
Background Martin, Bartol and Kehoe (2000) relay that the rapidly changing business
environment, which includes reorganization, acquisitions and mergers between companies, has
been the impetus for many layoffs of employees due to downsizing, which in turn can cause
legal issues for the company if not handled appropriately. The recent merger between Davis
Manufacturing and Bartlund Technologies present such a scenario when the necessity for more
efficient operations calls for the closing of a facility in San Jose, CA along with the reduction of
that facilities staff by 20%, before relocating the rest. Karen Howell, the division manager, will
work with the area managers to determine the employees designated to be dismissed using
performance appraisals as the basis for terminations. When ascertaining the employees to be
terminated, the dismissal criteria must be clear, consistent and fair in order to avoid legal
consequences (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). These authors espouse the most frequently
used criteria is either seniority or employee performance, or a combination of both, with each
method having advantages and disadvantages. Disadvantages relayed for using seniority is the
loss of superior performers and protected class members. For this reason, Gomez Mejia et al.
(2016) believe performance appraisals are the most proficient method to retain the best employees,
but they also pose greater legal risks if not properly documented. What should Howell do? How

Animal gigantism was prevalent during the Carboniferous period of the Paleozoic era. Gigantism in
flying insects occurred in abundance; however, arthropods, such as arthropleurids, also experienced
gigantism. Arthropleurids existed during the Paleozoic era and were the largest land dwelling
arthropods in the history of the Earth. 1m long millipedes are classified as arthropleurids.
Amphibians such as the terrestrial labyrinthodont amphibians also became gigantic during the

amphibians are limited by respiration through the skin, which is known to restrict maximum body

Hyperoxia is used to test for diffusive limitations in respiratory pathways. If high levels of oxygen
does not increase the rate of oxygen use, then non diffusive, convective, or pertusive limits to
aerobic capacities are indicated. Studies of exercising humans show that high levels of oxygen do
increase the maxim rate of oxygen use. However, no exercising amphibians and reptiles have been
studied.
Simulations of amphibian paleophysiology should also consider carbon dioxide interaction with
hyperoxia and hypooxia and its resulting effect on the evolution of vertebrate metabolism. Effects
of hyperoxia on the thermoregulation of vertebrates would be helpful. Various vertebrates have
lower body temperature under lower oxygen levels
Animal flight is particularly fascinating because of the metabolism energy needed to maintain flight
is high. Experiments with animal flight could produce a physiological extreme in regards oxygen
uptake and animal size. Studies of hummingbird hovering ability under low density and low oxygen
levels showed that flight performance was constrained by the amount of oxygen available.
Hummingbirds failed to maintain flight at oxygen levels of 11 14%, which equivalents to the
amount of oxygen present at an elevation of 4000 m. Studies of hummingbird flight in normal
oxygen levels (20.9%) and low density showed that physical and structural constraint, rather than
chemical metabolism, limits flight ability. The

Enduring Love Act 2
In the Act 2, the need of liberation of any kind of mold in the society is depicted in a more vivid
way. Another case of an issue of homosexuality among others in the play, it is in Act 2 between the
character of Lin and his little daughter Cathy. Throughout the Act 2, it is obvious the fact that Lin
is attracted to women and generally through her presence in the play it is shown that she has an
aversion to the opposite sex. In a moment in the play, when Lin talks with Victoria, she reveals that
she hates men that become apparent through the following excerpt Lin: I hate men... hate the
bastards (Caryl Churchill 292). That feeling of repulsion that Lin has for men, wants to transfer to
her daughter. That is pronounced through her attitude towards to her and generally the way that she

In addition to these the way that Cathy talks and the fact that she does not play with dolls, like
every girl in her age, but with guns, are revealing and enhancing the fact that she is acting like a
boy rather a girl at the age of four. So as the play to support the trial of Lin to make her daughter
have the same preferences as her, it uses a male actor to imitate Cathy s figure. The difference
becomes more vivid because in Act 2 is the only character which is played by the opposite sex, all
the others characters have their corresponding sex. However apart from the attempt of Lin who
tries tОї inculcate to her daughter some particular view about her sexual preferences; there are no
others actual indications that show that Cathy is a homosexual girl. Instead of that later in the
play Cathy wears a pink dress despite that her mother buys her jeans, but she chose to be dressed
in this way because some of her friends mocked her about her appearance (Caryl Churchill

China As A Developmental State
China as a developmental state
The extraordinary economic growth of China in the past 30 years is a miracle in many aspects.
China has the second highest GDP in the world after the United States, and it is expecting that to
surpass the American economy by 2025 (Zhao, 2014). Comparing the GDP of 2012 and 1978,
there was a 142 times increase. The GDP per capita has increase 101 times as well. It has lifted
more than 500 million people out of poverty (Zhao, 2014). This economic miracle is credited to
the economic reforms that started in 1978, which in many ways, learned from the experiences of
the model of developmental state in Korea and Japan. These series of reforms put China s economy
back to track after the Great Leap Forward, a failed and catastrophic social and economic campaign
between 1958 and 1961, and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, a devastating turmoil
between 1966 and 1976. The extraordinary economic growth of China in the past 30 years is a

Theory of Demand and Supply
1.Supply and Demand
Economists Are a Joke?
________________________________________
A smarty pants old story says that if you want a learned economist, all you have to do is get a
parrot and train the bird to squawk supply and demand in response to every question.
Not fair, but ...
It s true that the theory of supply and demand is a central part of economics. It is widely
applicable, and also is a model of the way economists try to think most problems through, even
when the theory of supply and demand is not applicable.
A Theory of Price

equilibrium of demand and supply
First, demand.
Demand
________________________________________
In economics, we need to use terms a little more carefully than they are sometimes used in ordinary
discussions. In general use, Demand is a word that can have more than one meaning, but in
microeconomics we define it more carefully so that it has only one meaning. Here is the definition:
Definition: Demand
Demand is the relationship between price and quantity demanded for a particular good and service
in particular circumstances. For each price the demand relationship tells the quantity the buyers
want to buy at that corresponding price. The quantity the buyers want to buy at a particular price is
called the Quantity Demanded.
The key point is to distinguish between demand (the relationship) and quantity demanded. That
distinction is important for microeconomics, although people often do not make it in ordinary
discussion.
Why do we define demand in this specialized

India s Issue Of Kashmir
India thinks that Kashmir is not the issue for an international concern and India does not consider
UN s take on any political action over Kashmir. India s apprehension of Kashmir is reasonable
somehow because India has fought three times with Pakistan regarding Kashmir s issue. On the
contrary, resolution does not come through military action. According to India, if India is ready to
establish Kashmiras a democratic province with all the privileges of an autonomous, there is no
guarantee to Kashmir will be under the Indian union. Because there are lots of terrorist groups are
fighting against India. Pakistanis supporting them by providing materials as well as financial
backing (Schofield, V. 2000).
The war between Pakistan and India in 1965 and 1999 see also (Bose, S. 2009) has shown that
India and Pakistan are increasing their military power and facing the challenges. On the other
hand, China is behind the Pakistan. So India is worrying if USA and China extend their support
to Pakistan and Pakistan prepares to attack Kashmir. Indian central politics are also responsible for
improving Kashmir case. Sonia Gandhi (leader of Indian Congress) is a liberal and her party
wants a dialogue with Kashmir and Pakistan both. But recent Prime Minister Narendra Modi (BJP)
doesn t want to negotiate with this case.

After 1947, Pakistan felt that Pakistan is deprived because Kashmir has a majority of Muslim
people and they have a right to choose their future

Incentive Pay, Employee Performance and Employee...
Introduction
Today, competition between the businesses is extremely high thus companies need to find ways to

Relationship between Incentive Pay and Employee Work Performance
An incentive pay program can reward employees who continue to produce superior work or
encourage employees who already produce good work to best. Sometimes, use an incentive
system when employees are lack of enthusiasm of getting down to work and improving things. If
everyone in the same job classification gets the same pay, there is no real incentive to do an
outstanding job (French, 1990). Various incentive plans used to motivate all employees such as
production staff, sales staff, administrative staff and managerial and professional staff on an
individual basis. To be improved employee work performance, the incentive pay programs need to
be fairly matched with the employees expectation. Properly designed and maintained incentive pay
program has the potential to increase employees productivity and work performance.
There are three main types of incentive plans an organization can be practiced. These are
individual incentive plans, group incentive plans and company wide incentive plans. Moreover,
suggestion plans and positive reinforcement programs can be considered as incentive plans
(French, 1990). Flexible reward systems linked to an individual employee performance called
individual incentive plans. Merit pay, piece rate pay, bonuses and special

Paradox Of Horror Movies
The Horror Paradox Horror movies have been classified as the type of genre that heavily exploits
the use of violence and grisly images to appeal to different audiences. In fact, one of the main
reasons that horror movies are still celebrated is because of a term, discovered by behavioral
researchers, called the horror paradox . Joanne Cantor, the director of the Center for
Communication Research at University of Wisconsin, states that Since it doesn t require logic to
appreciate, audiences watch them enjoy the experience of the feeling of being scared. Therefore, it
can obviously be stated that people genuinely love the feeling of getting scared from watching these
types of movies. Not only does it generate many intense emotions... Show more content on

The last important reason why the horror movie genre is appreciated by the public is that of a
number of emotions they experience after getting scared from watching this genre of movies.
During the viewing of horror movies, humans oftentimes feel a multitude of emotions due to the
stimuli causing one feeling to trigger others. This process is called Excitation Transfer Process.
Back in the late 1960 s to early 1970 s, the excitation transfer process was developed by a
professor at the University of Alabama named Dolf Zillman. Throughout the entire 21st century,
he was always able to make different kinds of improvements to his discovery of this process. He
also proposed this theory to explain the intensifications of feelings that occur after going through
the experiences of other emotions. The Excitation Transfer Process is based on two main theories:
one of them is a psychologist named Stanley Schafer, who states that there are only two factors in
emotion: psychological arousal cognitive label. The 2nd theory comes from another psychologist
named Clark Hull, whose known for creating the drive theory, which was proposed as a behavior
being externally displayed to satisfy our physical deficiencies. Therefore, it is assumed that
responses of excitations are open to more than one interpretation, and are recognized by numerous
emotions that are assigned into

The God Father is a 1972 mafia movie that was based on Mario Puzo s novel The God Father .
The movie was created by Francis Ford Coppola, which revolved around the Corleone Family
that forms part of the Italian Mafia in New York. The Corleone Family was led by Don Vito
Corleone who had three sons one of which Michael refused to take part in the family business;
however later at the end of the movie he becomes Vito s successor and the next God Father. The
movie is all about the Family underworld business where it is governed by respect and honor. The

Scarface is a 1983 movie directed Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone. It revolves
around the life of a Cuban immigrant struggling to gain status, power and respect in Miami. The
movie shows how two Cuban immigrants Tony Montana and Manny Ray rise in the drug cartel

the movie Tony Montana is overwhelmed by greed and power; that is when his major down fall
took place; causing a bitter end to Tony Montana (Scarface).
Throughout the entire course of both movies, no matter how much bloodshed or violence was

It seemed that the Germans were using the same tactic that they would use almost fifty years
later, goading their enemies into an irrevocable stance and into war. Ducrot urged the French
that a pre emptive strike across the Rhine would catch Germany off guard and they could march
all the way to Berlin. However, the French military heads had no plan in effect for a possible
altercation with Germany and did not until the war was eminent. They toyed with the idea of a
possible alignment with Austria Hungary, but their government was wary of such an
arrangement but agreed to a triple alliance that included Italy. This would, the Archduke

The Developing Person Through The Life Span
Losing A Loved One Will Result A Person To Mature
Death is very hard to understand. Even adults have a tough time coping with their loved one s
death what more a child or a teenager finding out that his father will not be around anymore.
According to Kathleen Berger in the book called The Developing Person Through The Life Span,
she believes that Adolescents find way to vent their grief to express their personal identity concerns
and control their anxiety about death by taking risks (Berger 2014). I absolutely agree with Berger
s research about how adolescents react to death because it is exactly how I felt and reacted during
those times that my father was at the verge of death. Sons are normally close with their father and
as the fourth child of the family, I was very close with my father. He disciplined us in a way that a
child would understand and up until now that s the method I use to raise my kids. The road that
lead me to maturity took me a lot of time to recover from my father s death, how I coped during
the times that he was not with us anymore and how I had to snapped out of my outrageous activity
to notice that I was not the only one hurting.
March 1987, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. It was very hard to believe and accept
that he was ill. He was only 58 years old after all and I just started my first year of college at the
age of 17 years old. Prostate cancer did not wait a long time to take our father away from us. Six

The 1785 poem To a Mouse by Robert Burns inspired the title of John Steinbeck s 1937 novella Of
Mice and Men. These two texts carry common theme, allowing clear similarities to be drawn
between them.
In relation to the poem, Steinbeck s character Lennie represents both mouse and man. He is the man
in terms of his physical strength and characteristics but the mouse in terms of his mental
capabilities, simple desires and simple understanding of the world.
Like the man, Lennie s actions/brute force result in unintended harm. This is evident through
Lennie s encounters first with the pup and later with Curley s wife. It is also demonstrated
anecdotally with tales of unfortunate mice from Lennie s childhood.

A prevalent issue surrounding southern historic house museum interpretation today includes, an
acknowledgment of enslaved labor, but not the kind of engaged discussion that would help tourists
identify with that labor in affective ways (Modlin, Jr., Alderman, and Gentry 13). Some sites are

interpretation furthers structural racismin our society.
A textbook definition of structural racism would include the normalization and legitimization of an

Gender Roles In The Elizabethan Era
The sexism rampant in the Elizabethan era bears many similarities to the sexism present today.
However, the world of the Elizabethan era, Shakespeare s time, has some differences with today
s world. This time period is named after the ruler in England at that time: Queen Elizabeth I. In
the Elizabethan era, theatre was a common form of entertainment for people of all social classes,
but audiences were often rowdy and loud. Because women were not allowed to be on stage, men
often played female roles. Additionally, women had many expectations placed on them and were
very politically and socially disadvantaged. Many of the acts of sexism that oppressed Elizabethan

The gender roles of the Elizabethan era influence the plot and characters in Romeo and Juliet.
Sexual objectification gives the audience an idea of how the play treats women. Women s
dependency on men is something that frequently comes up. Women of the Elizabethan era like
Juliet are limited in their choice of who to marry and whether to marry. These reasons all apply
to today, where sexual objectification, men s power over women, and familial expectations limit
women s lives. Still today, women are often used as nothing but sexual objects or are killed for
added drama in popular films. Additionally, women s voices are often silenced in academic,
business, and other settings due to the same sexist beliefs about women being inferior from the
Elizabethan era. Currently, women are often pressured early on to think about having children and
taking care of a family, similar to the Elizabethan era. From this, it can be concluded that modern

Gifted education is very stressful for students in middle school, but if you start in elementary
school with a gifted program it could be less stressful on your child. Gifted programs are good
programs but there are things that could make your child feel pressured and they may want to
leave the program. To get into the programs depending on the district you are in there could be
discrimination to be accepted or recommended to test for it. This discrimination could be based on
race, income, gender, or ethnicity, if you re in a school district that lets you apply without being
recommended then you won t have to worry about this. Studies show that in Broward County they
started with teachers recommended students and then changed their system to where any students
could apply to the gifted programs and there was a major increase in low income, latino, and
black students that were accepted. In most districts there are not full time gifted programs, so
there are pull out enrichment programs, which are groups of kids that get taken with a gifted
resource teacher and get taught in the small group, missing class time. Another option if there a
full time gifted program is to skip grades, which isn t a very good decision because although your
student is gifted they still need to know the information from the grade they skip. Teachers don t

The Effects Of Afrique Engagee On Africa
The term Afrique EngagГ©e is generally a dynamic of the impacts of other continents and
countries outside of Africa that played a big role in the Atlantic Slave trade and in the long run
caused Africa to have a huge delay in it s development. This concept includes exports of slaves by
sex and age, prices of exports, changes in quantity of slaves, and the products/resources that were
big in trade. Afrique EngagГ©e caused Europe to have so much power and success over Africa
based on Africa s goods and people. Emergent Africa, which includes the issue of Africa was just an
effect of Afrique EngagГ©e.
Population in Africa decreased at astonishing amounts due to the slave trade between
Europe and Africa. The population decrease was not just due to slave trade which some African
kings were said to have agreed to but Europeans would come into Africa and capture citizens
forcefully. Historian Patrick Manning, makes the claim that the coastal exports of young adult
slaves, twice as many men as women, tended to transform the structure of the population and the
organization of society . Manning believes that if Europe didn t take so much of the people of
Africa, Africa could have been sufficient enough to support itself in advances. Walter Rodney,
another historian that sides with Manning notes that Europeans obtained slaves by trading rather
than raiding (Northrup, 89). The used violence, such as, warfare, trickery, banditry, and kidnapping
to force these people out of there homes

North America And South America
Both North and South Americas span across many latitudes. This means that they experience many
different climates. North America is very wide and experiences continentality. South America is
more narrow and does not experience the same level of continentality. Both Americas have rain
shadow effect in their south west. They have desert areas created by this rain shadow. South
America has a huge tropical area that North Americadoes not experience, but South America does
not have an arctic area like North America.
The physical geography of the Americas has lots to do with where the population densities are
located. These locations are also heavily rooted in colonialism. When the first settlers arrived in the
Americas the set up trading posts and small communities along the coasts. In areas that were
good for growing crops, the would bring slaves from africa to work the farms growing these
resources for the European states. (Demos, 2013) The population distribution has as much to do
with colonialism as the Physical geography. Whether they were called Native Americans, First
Nations or Amerindian the people who inhabited these lands in the pre Christopher Columbus
times were often forced off their lands and onto land deemed undesirable to the European colonist.
The Europeans also brought many people of African descent to the Americas as slave labor. While

Latika lie innocently talking. There is a high angle shot making Latika and Jamal look weak

continues to say I am the elder, I am the boss, for once you do as I say. This shows that Salim
believes he is the dominant brother and Jamal must obey him. The scene concludes with Salim
raping Latika after Jamal is forced away at gunpoint by his own brother. This is where we see the
darker side of Salim s character and the contrast between the innocence of Jamal and the narrow

conflict between the brothers. It also aids the audience into categorizing Salim into the villain

(donkey) that was first presented to us through the sermon of Talking to the kings and plays a
major role in the later novel. The Ass is used as an idol that many of Zarathustra s guests praise as
a God. The utilization of the Ass as an idol of worship is Nietzsche s criticism on how Christians
worship their God. In the sermon of Talking to two kings , Zarathustra hears two men
approaching where he was dwelling. He called out to them and realized that they were two kings
searching for the overman. Zarathustra introduces the Ass by yelling out to the kings saying,
Strange! Strange! How does this fit together? Two kings I see and only one ass! (356 p2). The
kings reply to Zarathustra and when he is presents himself to them, the kings are it total dismay.
They explain that they are looking for the overman for he is the one higher than the lords.
Zarathustra is pleased by their desire to find the overman. The kings then told Zarathustra that they
plan to convey the Ass to the overman. During the time

What Did The Choice Of Nation Building And Reconciliation...
To what extent did the choice of nation building and reconciliation help South Africa avoid a
pending civil war from 1990 1994
INTRODUCTION
The early 1990s in South Africa marked the start of a process leading to the official end of an
oppressive and discriminatory apartheid regime. The period was characterised by sporadic bouts of
political intolerance and indecisiveness leading to clear moments of political frustration between
the opposition (the minority parties like National Party, AWB, Freedom Front Plus) and the
liberation forces (African National Congress (ANC) the Pan African Congress (PAC) and the South
African Communist Party (SACP)),and at times, violence and bloodshed. The commitment to
ending this political strife paved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
INVESTIGATION
Before the early 1990s, South Africa was an Apartheid state governed by the National Party. The
country was governed by the white people, who segregated the white minority from the black
majority as well as the black people ethnically. It was not before the late 1970s/early 1980s that civil
resistance began to rear its head against the discriminatory and oppressive Apartheid government,
forcing the government to make reforms. These reforms lead to increased civil resistance within
communities, and later pressure both internally, through increased civil resistance by making the
state ungovernable, and externally, through economic sanctions and isolation, for the abolishment
of the Apartheid. The deadlock between the liberation movements and the oppressors, along with
the external pressures, pressurized the National Party into compromising with the leading liberation
movement African National Congress. In February 1990, the then president of South Africa,
President F. W De Klerk announced the unbanning of the liberation movements Pan African
Congress, African National Congress and South African Communist Party, following the
unbanning, was Nelson Mandela s release which marked the start of the transition period from
1990 1994. South Africa was cloaked with a cloud of violence leading towards the transition period
in attempt to create an ungovernable

Of The Rain, And The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
Emily Balluff
Mr. Kantor
Pre AP English 10
1 November 2017
Dependence on Men There can be no doubt... of our dependence upon forces beyond our control.
Primitive man was so impotent in the face of these forces that [gravitate], especially in and
unfavorable natural environment, fear became a dominant attitude, and, as the old saying goes,
fear created gods . (John Dewey) Life often works like this. One person is dependant on the
another. Ernest Hemingway wrote two very intriguing stories, Cat in the Rain, and The Short
Happy Life of Francis Macomber. Both stories have a lead female character who is very vulnerable
and counts on the other men in the story. Hemingway portrays women as dependant on the men in
his short stories. The women in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her husband has given everything to her and if she were to leave then she would not be able to
support herself, by cause of Margot s loss of awareness of where money comes for. Her sees it as
coming from a man, not being earned. Hemingway uses Margot and the wife s dependence on
Francis men in theseir stories to show women s dependence on men.
In Hemingway s stories women These women have affairs with other men because their
husband will not give them what they want. In The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber,
Francis realizes that Margot is cheating and she relies on another manother men, not just him
because he realized that his wife was not in the other cot in the tent. Margot cheats because she
knows her husband will not leave her even though they get to pretty though terms and Wilson
tries to convince her [t]hat was a pretty thing to do, he said in a toneless voice. He would have
left you too. Wilson makes multiple references to his and Margot s affairs and keeps reminding
her of them to make her feel guilty. Margot refuses to let her husband find out, even though he
figures it out in the middle of the story, for she relies on him for support economically , and
socially. As for the story, Cat in the Rain, the wife has a different type of affair, a metaphorical
affair, thato symbolizes her dependence on men. In this story , her desire isn not like Margot s.
Her desire is to have a cat , which symbolizes her want to have a baby. Her husband will not

Park Observation
My observation had been conducted near my home, a local park to be exact. This park had been
a day to place for adventure and fun during my youth. This gave me an important perspective in
observing the park consisting of individuals who I could easily connect to.This allowed for me to
be easily influenced by the factors surrounding the park that connect to my early life. I see things
and compare them to my own youth and it affects my judgement on different topics. My
standpoint is critical in determining and analyzing the different factors that I saw at the park.
When certain activities or tasks were conducted by the kids at the park, I judged them based on
what I had experienced before or if I had even done such a thing.
Regarding the decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated above, my early childhood experiences are crucial when making inferences and
understanding the reasoning behind them. I created two groups depending on their role within
the game I observed; The Runners and Hunters. Regardless of the game I was observing, I
refereed to the Runners as little miniscule critters and the bigger kids to be the Hunters or the bad
guys, which show the pre incorporated experience from my past. My biggest weakness was the
influence of prior experience on my present judgement. I had tried to connect to the people I had
chosen to observe, and that changed the end result of my investigation causing it to be impacted on
a personal level.
The topic I had chosen to observe was limited by the time frame and the individuals I had looked
at. The time had been a big factor, as 60 minutes is nowhere near enough time to fully understand
the environment and critically analyze it. Besides time, as I read over my observation I realized that
I was not taking into consideration that there were parents at the park, I only choose to look at the
children. Having incorporated the parents as a part of the observation would have provided a more
explorable environment to conduct this observation.
In conclusion, if developed under an anthropologist, the observation would have the common theme
of factual data evidence incorporated into the critical writing analysis rather than the creative
storytelling which was the case for my

Indian Women s Indian Association Essay
India
Unlike the British and American women, Indian women did not face great difficulty in securing
franchise. Gandhiji stressed on the need for active participation of the masses during the freedom
movement, including women. He encouraged total participation of women resulting in the
emergence of a large number of women freedom fighters. Annie Besant, Madame Cama and
Sarojini Naidu formed the Women s Indian Association. But, women still constitute a mere 10% of
the legislators in the Parliament and State Assemblies. According to the 1955 International
Parliamentary Union Survey, women hold just 11.7% of all seats in Parliament around the world.
Success at the Panchayat level based on reservations for women convinced women s organizations
that it is the correct time to extend these reservations to the highest levels.
Conclusion
Figure 1.3 Gender disparity
After Only 22 per cent of all national parliamentarians were female as of August 2015, a slow
increase of 11.3 per cent in 1995. As of August 2015, 11 women served as Head of State and 10
served as Head of Government. Rwanda had the highest number of women parliamentarians
worldwide. Women there have won 63.8 per cent of seats in the lower house. Globally, there are 37
States in which women account for less than 10 per cent of parliamentarians in single or lower
houses, as of August 2015, including 6 chambers with no women at all.

How Did George Washington Carver Made Out Of Peanuts
George Washington Carver George Carver was known as the peanut man because of all the
things he made out of peanuts like flour, milk, dyes, and cheese. When he was in his
neighborhood his neighbors would come to him to help them with their ferns. When he took
them into his garden the ferns would bloom. At that point of his life he didn t know what botany
was and he could barely read. Carver grew up to be a well known person in history back then and
even today. George Carver was very famous for the things he made out of peanuts when the soil
was hard to farm in. That was how he got his name, Peanutman. Many people mistake him for the
making of peanut butter but that was another man. In 1938 the public asked him if peanuts

Speak By Laurie Halse Anderson Character Analysis
Melinda Sordino, the antagonist and narrator of the novel Speak written by Laurie Halse
Anderson, is faced with isolation because of the trauma she experiences with her rape, the fact
that her rapist attends her school, and because she is shunned by all of her peers. The summer
before her ninth grade year, Melinda and her friends attend a high school party. She is raped at
the party by a senior named Andy Evans, and immediately after she called the police. Before the
cops arrived and busted the party Melinda left, causing everyone to believe Melinda was trying to
get everyone in trouble.

The man faced isolation because of the remote environment in which he is in and also because
he isolated himself away from his imagination. The man is on journey in the Yukon wilderness
during middle of the winter. London describes the setting as colorless and white, and that there
was no sun, not even a hint of sun in the sky. The man is isolated from any color, sun, and
civilization. The man is not only in an isolated environment, but he also had isolated himself
away from his imagination. He wasn t able to picture anything going wrong during his journey
and ignored the warnings of other experienced travelers, saying that conditions were too cold to
travel in alone. During his trip he can t imagine the consequences that he will face because of the
extremely cold weather. For example, he wasn t properly dressed for the conditions he was in,
and he couldn t imagine how long the trip would actually take. In the man s situation, his form of
isolation had a negative impact on his life and was cause of his death. The man s isolation was
caused by behavioral differences because he made his own decisions, and chose to be in a situation
where he was faced with isolation. I think that this situation could happen in the 21st century, but
isn t as likely as would have been in the past. If this was to happen today, the man would probably
just have driven to his desired location or would have called a friend for

that the emergencies plan of the government were lacking. The city official responsibility for
evacuation of its citizens and the intent was to assist those who needed transportation for the
incoming storm but had no actual plan to implement that intent. When the hurricane Katrina made a
landfall in New Orleans on 29 August 2005, heavy rain battered the area and the storm surge
measuring as high as 30 feet and moving toward inland and breached several levees intended to
protect New Orleans from the water of the lake. The water poured through the breaks in the days
following the storm, covering approximately 80% of the city with water as deep as three meters.
The flooding, wind, and waves it caused the city major damage to building and infrastructure.

The Importance Of Big Data
Big Data is Large sets of information that may be analyzed to reveal patterns or trends. So how
does it start small? In the beginning of this episode one of the speakers says, Every single data
point has a human story. Today many people are pursuing their passions, while being able to
gather data. This data is not only useful for research, but can save lives. Warnings for flash floods,
disaster reliefs maps, or protecting our planet We, The Crowd can play a big role in our
communities or even half way around the world. Who knows neighborhoods better than the people
living there? Who can navigate through difficult terrains, and unknown roads when there are no

Similar to CoCoRaHS, Public Lab is another community based effort where individuals can learn
how to investigate environmental concerns. These community organizers come up with ways to
create low cost solutions for monitoring air, water and land. In 2010, an explosion on BP s
Deepwater horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico killed eleven workers and injured seventeen
others. Massive quantities of oil was flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. It took four months to
contain the leaks but they were also containing a lot of information. News reporters were being
turned back from documenting the spill and access to the site was being controlled. The
Solution? Balloons and Kites. These everyday objects were used to do Grassroots Mapping .
They captured high resolution, close up imagery. The team was able to capture aerial images to
document the spill. People being affected by this environmental hazard were being shut out, but
Public Lab provided the tools and techniques anyone interested in could use to help build up data.
Unlike the BP Spill many natural disasters can not be avoided, and every minute is important after
a disaster situation. So maps and navigation systems play an important role when organizations
like the Red Cross need to assist disaster victims. No problem, right? We ll just open up Google
Maps, and find our destination. But what happens when you live in a district that is not mapped

Seeing what her parents have to live through prevent her from having any hope and indirectly characterizes her as hopeless. That night, Lizabeth hears her parents arguing about how hard living is. She hears her father break down into tears (221). This was the last straw for Lizabeth. After hearing what her parents had to say in their conversation, she comes to the conclusion that if her life is not fair, then the life of others should not be fair either. • 7. The Importance Of Realism In The Film The King Of Kong In the film, The King of Kong, realist aesthetics are used to give the audience a view of the real world and create the deeper meaning that if something doesn t look like it is real than it is ultimately flawed and inaccurate. Compared to this, formalist aesthetics that are used in the film, Wreck It Ralph, are not only utilized to present a whole new world that is exaggerated visually, but to primarily produce a vision that creates a deeper meaning and tone that is far from realistic. The cinematography that is being displayed in the film, The King of Kong, is what is known as deep focus cinematography. In the documentary, there are many instances where there is a lot of space in front of the camera, consisting of space and people, that is in clear focus and only partially distorted in some areas that are mainly difficult to identify. The foreground, middle ground, and background will all be in crisp focus. For example, when Steve Wiebe is playing Donkey Kong at Funspot, Steve is presented clearly in the foreground as well as the many people and gaming consoles in the middle ground and background. This type of cinematography is used to present to the audience something that they can essentially relate to on a personal and real level. Each part of the image is in focus to give off the notion that everything that is being seen is like what is seen in a real world situation. On the other hand, expressive cinematography is what is utilized in the film, Wreck It Ralph. This type of cinematography is characterized by using fast or slow motion, whether it be with an object or person. When a person or object in the film is sped up it is usually in order to represent a lapse of a large amount of time. For example, when Ralph is talking about the new games that appear over time in the arcade, the people and gaming consoles speed up and alter with the lapse of time. Opposite of this is when time and space are slowed down. For instance, when Felix saves Sergeant Calhoun and himself from dying in the Nesquik Sand they in turn gaze into each other s eyes. Slow motion is used in this instance to intensify built up romantic emotions and of course expand time. This type of cinematography is used to give the audience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Body-Checks In Hockey Stephen McKichan, a goaltender for the Milwaukee Admirals, suffered a career altering injury during December 15, 1990 minor league hockey game against the Peoria Rivermen. The injury occurred during the third period of the game when the Rivermen skater, Tony Twist, body checked McKichan; rendering the goaltender unconscious as a result (Breitenbucher, 1990, p. 7). The body check occurred both during a play stoppage and after a referee had twice blown his whistle to signal a stoppage in play. • 11. The Marketing Strategy Of Marco Gianni Shoes Essay In Marco Gianni Shoes case, basically, the owners did not have any marketing strategy. Because in order to create a marketing strategy, there are four necessary aspects that must be considered. First of all, the operators must be aware of their target market and what kind of product they intend to provide to their target customers. And the next step is to make a decision about what kind of relationship do the operators intend to form with their customers or suppliers. Thirdly, in order to create this strategy, what level of investment is required and how will the operators allocate and locate the required resources. Finally the operators must have detailed objectives and action plans (David, 2015a). It is clear that the operators of Marco Gianni Shoes did not consider all of these four aspects. Marco Gianni Shoes opened in a fashion center of Auckland, it is a fantastic location, plenty of customers passing by their store every day. • 12. Mozart And Haydn Comparison Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Joseph Haydn are two of the many great classical composers of their time. Although some of their work may have been underappreciated at the time, their music is greatly acknowledged, if not well known, today. Both composers were from Austria, and both created beautiful classical music. However, there are notable differences in their pieces. This could be due to their personalities, historical context, or instruments of preference. Franz Joseph Haydnis called the Father of the Symphony. He displayed talent in music from a very early age and at eight years old he was accepted as a choirboy at Stephen s Cathedral in Vienna. This was just the beginning of his lengthy career, since he lived to be seventy seven years old. According to the textbook, in total Haydn composed twelve operas, more than a hundred symphonies, around seventy string quartets, more than fifty keyboard sonatas, and a large amount of choral music, songs, and chamber music. When it comes to Haydn s music, the people of his time would say that he composed lively music. This could be labeled as underappreciation since Haydn s compositions included quite innovative and unique qualities, which were admired by many composers after him (including Mozart). Haydn s operas were also special in that he explored emotions in a wider range. Haydn also invented what is called false recapitulation, which meant that he would arrange the music in such a way that it seemed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Analysis Of The Closing Of A Facility Essay Background Martin, Bartol and Kehoe (2000) relay that the rapidly changing business environment, which includes reorganization, acquisitions and mergers between companies, has been the impetus for many layoffs of employees due to downsizing, which in turn can cause legal issues for the company if not handled appropriately. The recent merger between Davis Manufacturing and Bartlund Technologies present such a scenario when the necessity for more efficient operations calls for the closing of a facility in San Jose, CA along with the reduction of that facilities staff by 20%, before relocating the rest. Karen Howell, the division manager, will work with the area managers to determine the employees designated to be dismissed using performance appraisals as the basis for terminations. When ascertaining the employees to be terminated, the dismissal criteria must be clear, consistent and fair in order to avoid legal consequences (Gomez Mejia, Balkin, Cardy, 2016). These authors espouse the most frequently used criteria is either seniority or employee performance, or a combination of both, with each method having advantages and disadvantages. Disadvantages relayed for using seniority is the loss of superior performers and protected class members. For this reason, Gomez Mejia et al. (2016) believe performance appraisals are the most proficient method to retain the best employees, but they also pose greater legal risks if not properly documented. What should Howell do? How ... If high levels of oxygen does not increase the rate of oxygen use, then non diffusive, convective, or pertusive limits to aerobic capacities are indicated. Studies of exercising humans show that high levels of oxygen do increase the maxim rate of oxygen use. However, no exercising amphibians and reptiles have been studied. Simulations of amphibian paleophysiology should also consider carbon dioxide interaction with hyperoxia and hypooxia and its resulting effect on the evolution of vertebrate metabolism. Effects of hyperoxia on the thermoregulation of vertebrates would be helpful. Various vertebrates have lower body temperature under lower oxygen levels Animal flight is particularly fascinating because of the metabolism energy needed to maintain flight is high. Experiments with animal flight could produce a physiological extreme in regards oxygen uptake and animal size. Studies of hummingbird hovering ability under low density and low oxygen levels showed that flight performance was constrained by the amount of oxygen available. Hummingbirds failed to maintain flight at oxygen levels of 11 14%, which equivalents to the amount of oxygen present at an elevation of 4000 m. Another case of an issue of homosexuality among others in the play, it is in Act 2 between the character of Lin and his little daughter Cathy. Throughout the Act 2, it is obvious the fact that Lin is attracted to women and generally through her presence in the play it is shown that she has an aversion to the opposite sex. In a moment in the play, when Lin talks with Victoria, she reveals that she hates men that become apparent through the following excerpt Lin: I hate men... hate the bastards (Caryl Churchill 292). There is a high angle shot making Latika and Jamal look weak and vulnerable. This cuts to a low angle of Salim making him seem strong and powerful. Salim continues to say I am the elder, I am the boss, for once you do as I say. This shows that Salim believes he is the dominant brother and Jamal must obey him. The scene concludes with Salim raping Latika after Jamal is forced away at gunpoint by his own brother. This is where we see the darker side of Salim s character and the contrast between the innocence of Jamal and the narrow mind of Salim. This impacts on the audience because it is the first time that there has been serious conflict between the brothers. It also aids the audience into categorizing Salim into the villain character at this point in the film. At the end of the film Salim makes the ultimate sacrifice; his life. This emphasizes the dramatic change that has occurred in Salim s character. Salim transforms from being the antagonist to being the enabler, aiding Jamal in finding Latika. In chapter 23: Salim helps Latika escape. We see Latika watching the news about Jamal being on his final question, with tears rushing down her cheeks. Salim enters. We see a high angle of Latika reiterating her vulnerability this shadows chapter 16 (when Latika was in the same position). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Thus Spoke Zarathustra By The Nineteenth Century In the Thus Spoke Zarathustra , written by the 19th century philosopher Nietzsche, we are presented with many sermons that are structure similar to parables from the Lutheran Bible. These sermons are given to us by the main character, Zarathustra, on our quest to find the overman (ubermench). Zarathustra uses many characters to present stories about the flaws of humanity and how we are to get better. In Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Zarathustra uses the character of an ass (donkey) that was first presented to us through the sermon of Talking to the kings and plays a major role in the later novel. The Ass is used as an idol that many of Zarathustra s guests praise as a God. The utilization of the Ass as an idol of worship is Nietzsche s criticism on how Christians worship their God. In the sermon of Talking to two kings , Zarathustra hears two men approaching where he was dwelling. He called out to them and realized that they were two kings searching for the overman. Zarathustra introduces the Ass by yelling out to the kings saying, Strange! Strange! How does this fit together? Two kings I see and only one ass! (356 p2). The kings reply to Zarathustra and when he is presents himself to them, the kings are it total dismay. They explain that they are looking for the overman for he is the one higher than the lords. Zarathustra is pleased by their desire to find the overman. The kings then told Zarathustra that they plan to convey the Ass to the overman. During the time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To what extent did the choice of nation building and reconciliation help South Africa avoid a pending civil war from 1990 1994 INTRODUCTION The early 1990s in South Africa marked the start of a process leading to the official end of an oppressive and discriminatory apartheid regime. The period was characterised by sporadic bouts of political intolerance and indecisiveness leading to clear moments of political frustration between the opposition (the minority parties like National Party, AWB, Freedom Front Plus) and the liberation forces (African National Congress (ANC) the Pan African Congress (PAC) and the South African Communist Party (SACP)),and at times, violence and bloodshed. INVESTIGATION Before the early 1990s, South Africa was an Apartheid state governed by the National Party. The country was governed by the white people, who segregated the white minority from the black majority as well as the black people ethnically. It was not before the late 1970s/early 1980s that civil resistance began to rear its head against the discriminatory and oppressive Apartheid government, forcing the government to make reforms. These reforms lead to increased civil resistance within communities, and later pressure both internally, through increased civil resistance by making the state ungovernable, and externally, through economic sanctions and isolation, for the abolishment of the Apartheid. The deadlock between the liberation movements and the oppressors, along with the external pressures, pressurized the National Party into compromising with the leading liberation movement African National Congress. In February 1990, the then president of South Africa, President F. W De Klerk announced the unbanning of the liberation movements Pan African Congress, African National Congress and South African Communist Party, following the unbanning, was Nelson Mandela s release which marked the start of the transition period from 1990 1994. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated above, my early childhood experiences are crucial when making inferences and understanding the reasoning behind them. I created two groups depending on their role within the game I observed; The Runners and Hunters. Regardless of the game I was observing, I refereed to the Runners as little miniscule critters and the bigger kids to be the Hunters or the bad guys, which show the pre incorporated experience from my past. My biggest weakness was the influence of prior experience on my present judgement. I had tried to connect to the people I had chosen to observe, and that changed the end result of my investigation causing it to be impacted on a personal level. The topic I had chosen to observe was limited by the time frame and the individuals I had looked at. The time had been a big factor, as 60 minutes is nowhere near enough time to fully understand the environment and critically analyze it. Besides time, as I read over my observation I realized that I was not taking into consideration that there were parents at the park, I only choose to look at the children. Having incorporated the parents as a part of the observation would have provided a more explorable environment to conduct this observation. In conclusion, if developed under an anthropologist, the observation would have the common theme of factual data evidence incorporated into the critical writing analysis rather than the creative storytelling which was the case for my ...
