Coaching: The New Necessity
93% of Fortune 1000 companies rely on execu-
tive coaches. Eric Schmidt, the Chairman of Al-
phabet, once said that the best business advice
he ever received was to get an executive coach.
His coach was the legendary Bill Campbell who
also coached the co-founders of Google, Apple
co-founder Steve Jobs, and Amazon CEO Jeff
Bezos.
Chief executives aren't the only ones using
coaches. According to PwC, coaching is a $1B
industry in the US including 10K leadership, ex-
ecutive and business coaches with over 120K
active clients. Not only has coaching moved
through the ranks below CEOs; it has also
evolved from a remedial fix for performance
problems to a powerful approach for achieving
peak performance in a current role and develop-
ing new capabilities for future roles.
There have been over 50 major studies on
coaching in the last decade and research find-
ings are consistent: coaching works. Clients are
more productive in setting and attaining goals,
they enjoy better relationships with their boss,
peers and subordinates, and are more self-
aware.
The best coaches quickly build trust and effec-
tive client working relationships, utilize proven
assessment tools and coaching frameworks, and
have a strong focus on tasks and goals. They
challenge thinking and assumptions, provide
support and encouragement, and drive results.

Assumption Planning (CAP) are part of coaching:

Eric Schmidt, the Chairman of Al- phabet, once said that the best business advice he ever received was to get an executive coach.
