1. BIOGRAPHY

CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT JEFFREY S. ZIMMERMAN
Chief Master Sergeant Jeffrey S. Zimmerman is the Munitions
Flight Superintendent, 180th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard,
Swanton, Ohio. He is currently detailed as the Inspector General
Superintendent, accountable to the wing commander for the
Commander’s Inspection Program. He is responsible for the
evaluation of the Wing’s ability to manage resources, lead people,
improve unit effectiveness and execute the mission.
In March 1986, Chief Zimmerman enlisted in the United States Air
Force as a Medical Services Specialist. He completed Medical
Services training at Sheppard AFB, Texas. His first duty
assignment was with the 88th Medical Group at Wright Patterson
AFB, Ohio where he worked as a Coronary Care Unit and Surgical
Intensive Care Unit technician. He was a member of the medical
center emergency response team and a member of the Wright
Patterson Honor Guard. March of 1990, Chief Zimmerman was
honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. He joined
the 180th Fighter Wing, as an Armament Systems Load Crew
member. In August 1991, he was employed as a full time Federal
Technician and served in numerous roles in the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron to include, Weapons
Release, Assistant NCOIC Gun Services, Weapons Training NCO, base Exercise Evaluation Team, and
Self Aid Buddy Care Instructor. In September 1999, Chief Zimmerman was selected as the Quality
Assurance Weapons Inspector. By April 2004, he had earned the position of Chief Inspector, and was
instrumental in developing plans and processes that directly contributed to the high ratings in the
Operational Readiness Inspections and Compliance Inspections. His leadership and experience in the
Quality Assurance office enabled him to travel to numerous bases throughout the Air National Guard to
assist with compliance and higher-level inspections. In January of 2008, Chief Zimmerman was selected
as the Munitions Flight Superintendent. He was instrumental in the success of numerous Munitions
inspections and deployments. He aided in the design and development of a new Munitions Storage Area,
which enabled the 180th Fighter Wing to store Air Combat Alert assets on station and prepare for future
missions. While assigned to the Maintenance Group, Chief Zimmerman completed numerous stateside
and AEF deployments to include Red Flag, Combat Hammer, Snowbird, Northern Edge, Operation
Provide Comfort I and II, numerous Operation Northern and Southern Watch deployments, Operation
Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.
