Lieutenant Colonel Malachowski had an extensive career spanning over 20 years in the US Air Force. He held numerous roles including test engineer, student in various pilot training programs, F-15E instructor and evaluator weapons systems officer, assistant director of operations, and chief of wing safety. He deployed multiple times in support of operations and accumulated over 2700 flight hours and 140 combat sorties. Lt Col Malachowski received several awards for his service and leadership before retiring in 2013.

2. Biography
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Paul “Eeyore” Malachowski was born 26 Dec 1969 in
Iowa City, Iowa. He attended Syracuse University and was awarded a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering and was a Distinguished Graduate from
Air Force ROTC. He entered the Air Force on 15 January 1993 at Holloman AFB,
New Mexico as a Test Engineer working on the Global Positioning System. Lt Col
Malachowski then entered Undergraduate Navigator Training at Randolph AFB,
Texas in April 1994. He finished #1 in his class and was chosen to attend the newly
established Air Force Fighter Navigator Training at Pensacola Naval Air Station,
Florida. He graduated during the summer of 1995 and proceeded to the F-15E Basic
Qualification Course at Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina. On qualification as
an F-15E Weapons Systems Officer, he was sent to Lakenheath Air Base, United
Kingdom for his first operational assignment with the 492nd Fighter Squadron. As a
Madhatter, Paul participated in Operation NORTHERN WATCH, DELIBERATE
FORGE and ALLIED FORCE. On completing this assignment, Lt Col Malachowski
moved back to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base as a Fighter Training Unit Instructor
at the 334th Fighter Squadron. Paul performed duties as Chief of Training, Flight
Commander and Evaluator WSO and was awarded the Squadron Company Grade
Officer of the Year in 2001. He then PCA’d to the 335th Fighter Squadron for a short
Ops tour prior to his move to Osan AB, South Korea. Paul served in the Strategy
Division of the 607th Combat Plans Squadron, 7th Air Force. He then returned to the
F-15E and back to RAF Lakenheath as an Assistant Director of Operations and Chief
of F-15E Advanced Programs. Lt Col Malachowski then followed his Thunderbird
wife Nicole to Nellis AFB and joined the 59th Test and Evaluation Squadron. Here he
served as an Assistant Director of Operations and Chief, Advanced Programs
Division controlling programs that affected 5 airframes (F-22, F15 C/E, F-16 and A-
10). He was awarded the Test Management Group Field Grade Officer of the Year in
2007. During this tour, Paul deployed to Afghanistan and worked as the Deputy
Chief of Operations, Joint Operations Center, CJTF-76. By June 2008, Paul had
moved to the Pentagon to work as a Program Element Monitor and acting Division
Commander. He worked many highly classified and complex issues, briefing DoD
and Congressional leaders to defend budgets and programs. In 2010, Lt Col
Malachowski returned to Seymour Johnson AFB for a final tour in the F-15E. He
served as the Chief of Wing Safety for the 4th Fighter Wing and 455th Expeditionary
Wing, Bagram, Afghanistan. He finished his career flying 73 combat sorties in
support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Paul married Nicole Ellingwood
October 2001 and they have twin children Garrick and Norah, born June 2010.
