A presentation about the work of Caixa Mágica Software, the main Linux Distribution software company in Portugal. CM 15 is presented alongside the work that is going on in various areas related to the distribution not limited to the work in Mancoosi, Uloop and Total Recall FP7 EC Projects
The objective of UP-TO-US is to create a prototype of platform that allows the personalization of IPTV services through the adaptation of contents to the user context and their preferences, for the whole european union. UP-TO-US is an european project with a big consortium that studies the potentialities of IPTV for entertainment, business, education, etc. The project will finish by February, 2013 and the UOC is participating through the desing and testing of use cases of IPTV for e-learning.

Before beginning the article it is necessary to clarify the title. Traditionally, the term “Broadcasting” referred to distribution of radio or video signals, essentially through radio and television stations. The author uses the term “ITcasting” for all companies that distribute contents within the IT field (Information Technology); in other words, any company that uses information technology to distribute contents, including radio and television stations, content producing companies, traditional telephone operators, mobile telephone companies, any company that distributes its contents through the Internet, and even contents generated by the user (UGC, User Generated Content).

The National Reference Centre for the Application of Open Source Information and Communication Tecnologies (CENATIC) have deploy a test installation of OpenNebula to host BigData proyects.
They have made the steps to have a test platform to deploy an Bid Data (Storm, Hadoop, HDFS, Hbase, Zookeeper) stack and test the OpenNebula as IaaS manager.
Introduction into the LoCloud-Project:
– LoCloud is a Best Practice Network co‐funded under the
CIP ICT‐PSP programme of the European Commission.
– LoCloud is supporting small and medium‐sized
institutions in making their content and
metadata available to Europeana.
– A cloud‐based technology infrastructure will enable the
aggregation of local content, and
– a number of micro‐services will help to reduce technical,
semantic and skills barriers and to render the content
more discoverable and interoperable.

- business management
- data transformation
- digital curation

The webinar will provide a general overview of the BIG IoT project, the technical solution and the application form of the 1st Open call.
Telefónica foresaw the huge potential of Smart Cities and embarked in one of its earlier initiatives, Smart Santander project, with the initial focus on populating the city with sensors as a first step towards creating a Smart City
