Description: The Department of Health’s Medical Marijuana Program is seeking a vendor to
provide an online continuing medical education (CME) course, accredited by an
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) provider, on the
medical use of marijuana to physicians and pharmacists across New York State. The
selected vendor must offer the course on-line to NYS practitioners for the
anticipated contract term 9/1/15-8/31/16. Additionally, the selected vendor will be
required to report physician and pharmacist course completion status to the
Department. This vendor will also provide to the Department an assessment of the
current body of scientific and medical evidence concerning the use of medical
marijuana to treat Alzheimer’s disease, muscular dystrophy, dystonia,
post-traumatic stress disorder, and rheumatoid arthritis.
BACKGROUND
This course is a requirement of physicians who wish to register with the Medical
Marijuana Program and of pharmacists who will be working in dispensing facilities of
New York State approved registered organizations as defined in Article 33 Title VA
of the Public Health Law.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO PROPOSE:
Interested organizations must have the following by the deadline for
proposals:
At least five years’ experience as a CME provider of online self-study
medical education to physicians;

At least one year of experience providing ACCME accredited medical
marijuana education to physicians;

2. Medical Marijuana course content that (a) is available on-line, (b) is 4
hours in length and (c) is peer-reviewed and edited by physicians and
based upon current medical and scientific evidence.

Documented experience providing years peer-reviewed and physician
edited course content that is based upon current medical and scientific
evidence.

Interested organizations must also be able to have the following by August 1,
2015:
CME-approved course content ready for DOH review and approval,
that can meet the educational requirements of 10 NYCRR 1004.1(b).
PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS:
Interested organizations must provide a short summary (no more than 1000 words
pages) describing their organization and experience as stated above by Month DD,
2015. The proposal should include:
A brief description of the interested organization, years in operation, and
menu of online-self-study offerings;
A description of how the interested organizations proposes to transmit to
DOH information about the practitioners who have successfully completed
the course;
One or more client references to confirm experience requirements of the
interested organizations as noted above (minimum qualifications); and
The fee (in $s) that the interested organization would charge to practitioner
for taking the 4 hour course and obtaining CME credit. Include a description
of methods of payment that would be accepted from individual practitioners.

issued. It is the Proposer’s responsibility to become aware of any such
amendments and/or addenda prior to submission of a proposal. All amendments
and/or addenda to solicitations will be posted to this contract reporter notice.
