CLOUD
COMPUTING

Cloud
 Basically, it is Network or internet
 We can say it is present at remote location
 Applications like E-mail, Web conferencing run in
cloud
Cloud Computing
1. It refers to manipulating , configuring and accessing
applications online
2. It is a combination of hardware, software and Internet
Infrastructure
3. The platform provides on demand services, that are always
on, anywhere, anytime and any place.
4. The hardware and software services are available to -
general public, enterprises, corporations and businesses
markets
Architecture
There are 4 components required for
cloud computing -
There are certain models working behind
cloud computing accessible and feasible
to users
Models
Deployment models
Deployment models define the type of access to
the cloud, i.e., how the cloud is located? Cloud
can have any of the four types of access: Public,
Private, Hybrid and Community.
• Public : It allows systems and services to be easily
accessible to the general public. Public cloud may be less
secure because of its openness, e.g., e-mail.
• Private : It allows systems and services to be accessible
within an organization. It offers increased security because
of its private nature.
• Hybrid : mixture of public and private cloud. However, the
critical activities are performed using private cloud while the
non-critical activities are performed using public cloud.
• Community : It allows systems and services to be
accessible by group of organizations.
Service model
Service Models are the reference models on which
the Cloud Computing is based. These can be
categorized into three basic service models as
listed below :
1. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
2. Platform as a Service (PaaS)
3. Software as a Service (SaaS)
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
• The delivery of technology infrastructure as an on
demand scalable service.
• provides access to fundamental resources such as
physical machines, virtual machines, virtual storage,
etc.
• This Can be coupled with Managed Services for OS
and application support
Platform as a service (PaaS)
• It provides the runtime environment to applications
development and tools
• It provides all of the facilities to the complete life cycle
of building and delivering web applications and services
from the Internet
• Applications must be developed by these platform
1. Multi tenant environments
2. Highly scalable multi tier architecture
Software as a service (SaaS)
• It allows to use software applications to
user
• This method is provides licensed access to
software and its functions as a web based
services
• SaaS have the highly scalable architecture
Advantages Disadvantages
• Lower computer costs
• Improved performance
• Reduced software costs
• Instant software updates
• Easier group
collaboration
• Device independence
• Requires a constant
Internet connection
• Does not work well with
low-speed connections
• Features might be limited
• Can be slow
• Stored data can be lost
• Stored data might not be
secure
Cloud Storage
• Create an account
by user ID and
password
• It contains the Data
in the whole world
• Log on to any
computer with Wi-Fi
to access the Data
Download for storage
 Download cloud based app to computer
 Save files or data to the cloud
 when it is connected to Internet it will sync to
cloud
 The cloud can be accessed from any internet
devices
