Pearl harbor at 6:30 a.m. on December 7, 1941 six Japanese carriers launched its first wave of
attack which consisted of one hundred and eighty one different kinds of planes such as torpedo
bombers, dive bombers, horizontal bombers, and fighters; as it was an unexpected attack in the
hours before dawn U.S. Navy Vessels spotted an unidentified submarine near the entrance to
pearl harbor. That very same submarine was attacked and reported as sunk by the navy
destroyer U.S.S. Ward. One of the United States patrol plane s reported to an operator at the
Army Radar Station at Opama. The pilot said the first wave of attack is on it s way . The officer
in charge did not act upon the pilot s information reason being of vague information. The officer
took caution in making any judgments on what to do so he put the entire military base on
standby. According to the radar sightings the planes were passed off as American Planes due for
landing at Pearl Harbor Military Base. The purpose of the wave of attack was to destroy our
aircrafts so they would not rise and intercept their fighters and bombers, also twenty one ships of
the U.S. Pacific Fleet was sunk or damaged.

The On The Block Chain
The public ledger is also called the block chain, which is again distributed to users, to
independently verify the chain of ownership of every bitcoin amount which approximately six
times per hour, the groups of accepted transactions between users is added to the block chain that
in turn publishes it to the nodes. Doing so allows the software to determine when specific bitcoin
amounts have been spent which is necessary, in order to prevent the double spending of currency
which eliminates the need for a central authority, something that can be thought of like a fail safe to
prevent fraud. Preventing double spending by people is necessary for the system to keep the block
chain complete, consistent, and unalterable. By making it a necessity... Show more content on

As the number becomes smaller, the longer the average it would take to find a required nonce, due
to the lower probability that a particular value will produce less than the target. This is further
solidified by the act of the bitcoin system of periodically adjusting the difficulty target so that the
average time the network needs to find a nonce is about 10 minutes. By doing this, as computer
hardware gets faster by the growth of technology regarding computer hardware over the years, the
protocol will simply adjust its mining target to make mining always last around 10 minutes thus
creating an objective regulation which does not give anyone an advantage, something the current
system is consciously lacking with the presence of day trading and the profession of investors in
general. This acts as an additional safeguard against those wishing to create unfair advantages in the
trading and production of Bitcoin and acts as almost an antivirus to prevent corruption due to
consistent innovations in the methods to corrupt. The measure, dubbed proof of work, makes any
modifications of the block infinitely more difficult because an attacker would be required to
outperform the combined power of the rest of the network which continues adding new blocks to
the original version of this block chain, something that is physically impossible in the current

Heinrich Himmler And His Life Essay
Heinrich Himmler was born on October 7th, 1900 in Munich to a middle class Bavarian family.
His father was Joseph Gebhard Himmler, a secondary school teacher and principal. His mother
was Anna Maria Himmler (maiden name Heyder), a devout Catholic and extremely attentive
mother. Heinrich had an older brother, Gebhard Ludwig Himmler, and a younger brother, Ernst
Hermann Himmler. Heinrich was named after his godparent, Prince Heinrich of Wittelsbach of
the royal family of Bavaria, who was tutored by Gebhard Himmler. Educated at secondary school
in Landshut, Himmler served as an officer cadet in the 11th Bavarian Regiment at the end of
WW1, although he saw no active service. After working briefly as a salesman for a fertilizer
manufacturing firm, Heinrich Himmler joined the Nazi partyand in the November of 1923
participated in the Beer Hall Putsch as a standard bearer at the side of Ernst Rohm. All of these
roles combined together were a major reason for Heinrich Himmler being chosen for the jobs he
received later in his militaristic life. It is surprising, that Heinrich Himmler, the chief of the SS and
the primary architect of the Holocaust, has not attracted the attentions of more biographers. For all
that he had taken part in for the history of the Third Reich, he appears to lack the infamous
charisma of Heydrich or Hitler, and because of this lack of infamous charisma he has been
presented only rarely as a primary subject for a book about the holocaust and the

Facing It By Yusef Komunyakaa Summary
Facing It by the American black poet Yusef Komunyakaa of Shreveport is written with the use of
visual images. Yusef Komunyakaa writes about one of his many trips to the Vietnam s Veteran s
Memorial in Washington DC. This Memorial is a long polished slab of black reflectant granite
with the names of all the US soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam. Yusef says my black face
fades, hiding inside the black granite . Here Yusef uses his reflection in the wallto bring the reader
back to the war and how he feels standing at the wall now. He makes his feeling ambiguous and
give the reader the opportuntity to decide what he is feeling through his use of viual images. For
example, one of these images can be interpretted in the section My... Show more content on

Perhaps he was someone that Yusef knew. With Yusef s thoughts flying back to the days at war,
he could have interpreted the reflection of a flash of a camera or a white cloud and instantly
remembered seeing this man blown apart by the flash of a booby trap. That particular
experience would definitely have stuck with anyone as a very prey like memory. Another
mysterious image Yusef writes is A white vet s image floats closer to me, then his pale eyes look
through mine. I m a window. He s lost his right arm inside the stone . When he says a white vet s
image floats closer to me, he could either be talking about the memory of a white man he served
with or a white man walking closer to him at the wall. When the man s pale eyes look through
Yusef s this could be that the man at the wall is not really looking at him but at the names on the
wall, or that the eyes are looking through him because Yusef is watching him die in Vietnam as
his soul is drifting away. Perhaps this is the Andrew Johnson and he lost his arm in the stone as
in in the war and Yusef is speaking for him and other fallen heroes like a window. Also if it is a
real man s reflection, maybe his pale eyes looking through Yusef s could be showing Yusef the
same pain and hurt that they both went through in the war in the sense that Yusef becomes a
window, by sharing the same hurt. Maybe this man really did not have an arm or maybe his
reflection of his arm was just hiden in the wall. This symbolizes what

Effects Of Online Social Networking On Society
Throughout the years, our society has experienced dramatic change due to technological advances.
Technology has become a vital part of our everyday lives that has greatly influenced the way we
interact with each other and our environment. Through the development of social networking, it has
easily kept us updated on what is going on around the world and in other people s lives. Instead of
face to face communication, the younger generation perceives social media to be a place to share
emotional connections and stay connected with their significant other. The aim of this research is
to investigate the effects of online social networking constructing romantic relationships. With the
many different ways to interact with your significant other through social networking, it has altered
the hookup culture as well as the authenticity and social value of relationships through time,
distance and space. Through this notion, it is proven that social networking sites can have both
negative and positive aspects upon a relationship. However, how does social media and romantic
relationships among teenagers and young adults lead to the notion of stress? How does the lack of
face to face interaction affection a relationship? With the development of social media applications
such as Tinder, Bumble, Facebook etc., how has it affected what defines authenticity of
relationships? These are a few questions that raise concern for people that engage with these social
networks. Within the use of

Amazon Web Services
Before getting into the details of Amazon Web Services (AWS), it s better to have an
understanding of what Cloud Computing means because AWS is one type of a Cloud . Cloud, in a
world of technology, means providing resources such as servers, applications, storage, and etc. to
businesses or individuals to eliminate the need of equipment to be set up, managed, or maintained
on the premises of the users. There are three different types of Cloud Computing:
IaaS: which stands for Infrastructure as a Service . This is a basic model of a cloud, and it
provides all the necessary hardware resources to an organization or a personal user. Providers of
this type offer physical machines or virtual machines. This type of cloud includes servers, storage,
networks, and operating systems. Most popular IaaS providers are: Amazon Web Services,
Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine
PaaS: which stands for Platform as a Service . This type of cloud computing mostly used by
programmers, application developers, or the companies who are in this type of business. PaaS
provides set of tools and services to help developers code and run their programs without buying
the expensive hardware and software layers. Most popular providers are: Google App Engine,
Amazon Elastic Beanstalk, and Microsoft Azure OrangeScape.

How Did Eli Whitney Affect The Economy
Eli Whitney was one of the greatest American inventors during at his time. Between 1793 and
around 1800 Eli Whitney played an important role during the Market Revolution when he invented
the Cotton Gin, which changed the manufacturing of cottons, and the Interchangeable part
machines that helped the making of gun parts and luxury items that were easy to produce. Each of
his inventions played a very large role in people s lives for the North and the South. The inventions
definitely changed the manufacturing of cottonand the making of gun parts which revolutionized the
United States. The Cotton Gin impacted the economy conditions both social and economic; as he
fights for his legal rights for his invention, which led him to his invention of the Interchangeable
part machines, and signed contract with the government to make as many muskets in a certain
period of time. Eli Whitney Jr was born on the cold December 8, 1765 in Westborough,

In 1794, he finally received his patent for his invention. Whitney formed a partnership with Miller
to manufacture the Cotton Gin for farmers throughout South. The development of the Cotton Gin
created many opportunities for white southerners. Little land to plant cottons and few slaves could
easily make huge profits. The plan was to charge farmers with two fifth of whatever profits they
could make. For farmers, the idea was exciting when they learned about the Cotton Gin and the
intention not to share any profits with Whitney and Miller. This was a problem for them because
the patent law for the Cotton Gin was pirated; farmers easily developed their own Cotton Gin and
improved the machine from the original. After the invention, the Cotton Gin was a success and the
South became the cotton king which made their economy

Writing In The Age Of Distraction Cory Doctorow Summary
The article Writing in the Age of Distraction by Cory Doctorow is an article talking about how the
Internet is often misconceived as a place where procrastination comes alive. In said article,
Doctorow makes a detailed list on how he manages to avoid procrastination and get work done,
while still using the Internet. The first step he lists is setting a goal for yourself and sticking with
it. Choose a number of words or number of pages you want to type for that day and aim for it.
Do not stop before you reach that goal. Similarly, Doctorow says, once you do reach that goal,
stop for the day. Stop in the middle of your sentence even, so that the next time you sit down to
work, you know where to start from. In his exact words, Doctorow states:
When you hit your daily word goal, stop. Stop even if you re in the middle of a sentence.
Especially if you re in the middle of a sentence. That way, when you sit down at the keyboard the
next day, your first five or ten words are already ordained, so that you get a little push before you
begin your work. (Doctorow) He then says that when you are actually sitting down to work, you
need to stop researching. One of the easiest ways to get sidetracked while working is by getting
distracted by information that isn t important for your assignment, but seem relevant at the time.
Set aside specific time for research so you don t end up procrastinating when you should be
working. Another tip Doctorow gives is to remember not to get distracted using your word
processor. Doing things like playing with the font or debating over which color your words
should be in will only kill valuable time. Turning off your cell phone and ignoring social media
notifications is also a great way of making sure you don t end up wasting your own time.
I choose to write about Doctorow s article because I often find myself getting distracted both
before and during the process of writing a paper. Much like Doctorow, I d been instructed by
several high school teachers to stay away from the Internet while writing so I didn t divert my
attention away from the assignment I was supposed to be working on. During the first three years
of high school, I followed this advice almost religiously, and even went so far

World s Increasing Demand For Energy Essay
World s increasing demand for energy is fulfilled by different sectors (like Oil, Coal, Natural Gas,
Hydro, Nuclear and others). Fossil fuels remain the dominant source of energy powering the world
economy, supplying 60% of the energy increase out to 2035. Within that, gas looks set to become
the fastest growing fossil fuel, spurred on by ample supplies and supportive environmental policies.
1.1 BACKGROUND
From the advert of the modern oil and gas industry, petroleum geologists and engineers have
followed a conventional route for exploration; look for hydrocarbon source rocks, find reservoir
quality rocks where hydrocarbons can accumulate, identify a trapping mechanism and then drill a
well. But a revolution is taking place in the exploration and production (E P) industry. Rocks that in
the past were of little interest, other than as potential source rocks, are today being actively pursued
as potential reservoirs. When considering unconventional resource plays, the focus is on finding
organic shale s. This development represents a fundamental shift in the way exploration companies
consider resource plays. Engineers and geologists studying shale gas resources find that reservoir
can lead to process adaptation and refinement of techniques. It is important to integrate data from
many sources and at many scales to optimally drill, complete and stimulate wells to produce
hydrocarbons from their source rocks. The two other type of existing unconventional gas resources

Entire Sanctification Definition
Man was created in the image of God, imago Dei. Man was created for love and to love God.
Man knew truth and happiness. God did/does not want to force us into relationship and so He
gave us free will. Adam and Eve exercised this free will in the garden and they fell from grace;
the fall. Adam rejected the moral law that has three uses (to show sin in the world; to bring man
to Christ; to keep man alive). The moral law is right and good concerning all things. The moral
law shows us that we must keep close to Christ and we will keep close to the law. It is in Christ
that we find freedom from the law. Wesley instructs that believers must keep the moral law to
grow deeper in God s grace. Adam also rejected the presence of God. In this place man... Show

We are babies, born again, and as we mature in faith we move closer to the likeness of Christ.
Assurance to Wesley was the belief that man could know they were saved. Wesley did not use
the word conversion a lot. It is when a person goes from being a child of the world to a child of
God. This occurs due to a person s response to prevenient grace. Once a person realizes they are
in need of God and have sin in their lives they are led to repentance. At this moment the person is
justified. This is evident when regeneration occurs and the person is born again. All of this is a gift
from God. This all begins the process of sanctification. A person then is aware of sin in their lives
and the battle it brings and wants to continue to be in the peace of God that comes at justification.
Repentance and the works suitable for repentance fills the person s life. It is the acts that causes the
person to know they need Christ. Being in a regenerated state, a complete renewal of the inside, the
person moves into being an Altogether Christian, totally committed to God and relationship with
Him. The Spirit of Adoption is present in the life of the person. Praise the

Prescription Drugs And Its Effects Essay
When patients have already faced the situation that they could not afford their prescription
brand, they would turn to other measures. One of those measures would be to use a different
brand to substitute the same drug to treat their condition. However, this drug may not be as
effective as their previous one. For example, Epipens are a very popular drug to treat individuals
with severe allergies. If they experience an allergic reaction, they would rely on an Epipen
injection to offset it. While it is a very popular and widely used allergy treating prescription, its
substantial price increase over the years have made it quite an expensive one. With being quite
costly, patients may turn to finding an inexpensive brand, anticipating that it would have an
equivalent effect as their previous prescription. However, according to Rubenfire from Modern
Health Care, [f]or most drugs or devices, patients might look to a competitor for a cheaper price.
But Dr. Bobby Lanier, a Fort Worth, Texas based allergist, said most of his patients end up using the
name brand EpiPen rather than competitors such as Adrenaclick (Rubenfire). Thus, this points out
that alternative brands claiming to have equal effects as the name brand may not be as efficient to
treating the patient s condition. With its cheaper price and yet ineffectiveness, it may lead patients
to worsen their overall health due to the circumstances given by the new drug. In other words, their
health is at risk since they would have

The guinea worm disease is most common in Africa. There is only about 1,000 US cases per

occurs and thrives off of dirty water. This disease has been terminated from most parts of the world
but the most cases occur in parts of Africa. The reason being, in Africa it is not easy to come
across clean water, therefore, the guinea worm thrives in Africa. The way the disease spread is
from tiny water fleas that carry the Guinea worm larvae. The larvae are eaten by the water fleas

The Literary Transcendence Of John Keats Works Far...
The literary transcendence of John Keats works far surpasses the malevolent criticism of the Tory
Journals. The beauty of Keats poems and letters, have held him in regard as the quintessential
Romantic poet, whose short life was ultimately consumed by his struggle for acceptance in the
dominant literary community. In the opening lines of Endymion, Keats writes A thing of beauty is
a joy forever ; an assertion that anything beautiful will give unending pleasure a belief that is
carried throughout not only in Endymion but also Ode on a Grecian Urn. It is commonplace for
Keats poems to explore the different forms of beauty most typically through nature, romance and
the ideal. Keats work exemplifies the paradoxical tensions between the passage of time, the
permanence of beauty and the disappointment of reality. Though beauty is arguably subjective thus
rooted in opinion and perception, beauty for Keats is a transcendent aesthetic found in every aspect
of the human existence and beyond.
It would be prudent to understate the impact of Keats tragic family life on his writings. Keats was
haunted by his anticipation of his future death after prematurely losing his father, brother and,
perhaps most traumatically, witnessing the death of his mother to tuberculosis. These events
culminated and into what Hamilton s 1969 psychoanalytic study concluded as his attempt to
complete the mourning process. Furthermore, Hamilton suggested that Keats externalised his
dreams and

When you re watching the College Football Playoffs or March Madness, are you wondering if

the debate about whether or not student athletes should be paid for the sports they play in collegehas
grown insurmountable. This is an issue that sheds light on the fairness of college athletics and is
important for not only student athletes, but anyone who enjoys watching. I, personally, believe
student athletes should not be paid because they are already awarded generous compensation, there

are starting to decorate in the vintage style. Lockers of this era were simple, rustic, and, at that

inquiring about Afrika, a new safari videogame for Sony s PlayStation 3 (PS3) console that
allowed players to watch wild animals and take virtual pictures. Hirai could not help feeling
frustrated. Most of the conversation like many others with Sony outsiders in the past month had

448 Responding to the Wii? Market Birth, Collapse, and Rebirthb The videogame industry got
off to an uncertain start in 1972, when television maker Magnavox introduced Odyssey, the first
home videogame console. Priced at $100 (the equivalent of $516 in 2008 dollars),c Odyssey
needed a television screen to project its very limited action. The system came with 12 games,
including versions of tennis and ping pong, each on a printed circuit board.5 However, partly
due to some uninspired marketing and distribution decisions, Odyssey s appeal proved limited.
Magnavox sold more than 100,000 game systems by year end, but sales quickly declined and
Odyssey was pulled from the market.6 Enter Atari Around the same time, a young entrepreneur
named Nolan Bushnell was developing arcade games with the use of then new microprocessor
technology.7 In 1972, the company he started, Atari, launched its first hit game an arcade version
of ping pong.8 In Pong, two players batted a ball of light back and forth between on screen
paddles. The game instructions were simple: Avoid missing ball for high score. 9 Pong was an
immediate success: 8,500 arcade consoles were sold in the first year.10 Bushnell

The Relationship Between Plato s Regimes And Current U.s....
Cooperation and Contrast between Plato s Regimes and Current U.S. Government
The U.S. government is a union of partially self governing states or regions under a central
government. It is composed of three distinct branches: legislative, executive, and judicial, whose
powers are vested by the U.S. Constitution in the Congress, the President, and the federal courts.
The separation of powers, which neither any branch working alone can change the U.S.
constitution, is a kind of harmony that is similar to what is described in Plato s aristocratic regime,
where each class minds their own jobs to keep the state functioning. Besides, in my opinion, the
current U.S. government is a combination of timocracy, oligarchy and democracy, which of four
regime types of Plato.
According to Socrates, in Timoracy, the spiritedness, which is the love of victory and honors, will
be predominant. Timoracy honours the rulers while is contemptuous of manual activities and
trade; for its rulers, they will eat communally and devote themselves to gymnastics and training for
war. Timoracy will be also governed in being afraid to appoint the wise as rulers, instead, selecting
spirited and simpler man, men naturally more directed to war than to peace (Plato 547e). Although
they will desire money, they will be niggardly of money since they cannot acquire money openly;
therefore, they will love to spend others money to fulfill their aspirations. Due to attach importance

The Case For Contamination By Kwame Anthony Appiah Summary
In Kwame Anthony Appiah s essay, The Case for Contamination, he discusses the complications
and benefits of globalization, and the impacts it has on smaller cultures. Appiah begins his
argument with an apparent negative connotation with the term globalization how it threatens the
ability for a culture to maintain traditions with influences from the western world. As his essay
continues on, he proves the contrary, and that members of society have the capability to keep
traditions whilst interacting with western ideals.
Appiah continues, and delves into the story of a Ghanaian Wednesday Festival, a tradition that has
been in their culture for hundreds of years. As he begins to look around the event, he notices that the

Similarities And Similarities Between A Psychopath And...
Taking after on around 40 years of empirical research, the PCL R, has developed a perfect
instrument for the evaluation of this phenomenon. Scoring criteria rate each of 20 things on a 3
point scale (0, 1, 2) as per the degree that it applies to a given person. This test takes into
consideration a greatest score of 40; a score of 30 assigns somebody as a psychopath. The
normal non psychopath will score around 5 or 6 on this test. Comfortable or business
psychopaths likely will score in the center 20s and sexually immoral psychopaths tend to score

in Criminal Justice? The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. 578 (1):

Within social science, as well as pure research, there seems to be a continual and ongoing debate
about qualitative and quantitative research. Some take the view that, All research ultimately has a
qualitative grounding, while others believe There s no such thing as qualitative data. Everything is
either 1 or 0 (Howe, 1988). In actuality, the debate should not be so black and white; both styles of
research have their advantages and disadvantages. At times though, the way one constructs
hypothetical constraints may actually prejudice the intended results or at least provide a framework
from which to form bias. In the hard sciences, scholars tend to agree that randomized experimental
studies have much higher internal validity than nonrandomized studies. This is basic to the overall
scientific method of investigation.
The term scientific method refers to a way of investigation or the acquisition of knowledge through
the testing of a theory or hypothesis, then working through measurements (observation and
empirical notes) to come up with a result, which should prove or disprove the original theory. Thus,
the basic method consists of a) formulating a question or hypothesis, b) designing an experiment or

Water Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment
Water covers almost 75% of the earth s surface and is undoubtedly our most precious natural
resource that exists on our planet today. There won t be any living organism on our planet without
water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large
amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden] Pollutions such as sewage and
fertilizers contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. At high levels, nutrients can over
stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms
consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygenas they decompose, and block light to
deeper waters.[David Krantz] This could be very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the
respiration ability of fish and other creatures of the sea. Pollution is also caused when silt and
other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites,
urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains.[David Krantz] Pollution in the form of
organic material enters waterways in many different forms as sewage, as leaves and grass
clippings, or as runoff from livestock feedlots and pastures. When natural bacteria and protozoan
in the water break down this organic material, they begin to use up the oxygen dissolved in the
water. Many types of fish and bottom dwelling animals cannot survive when levels of dissolved
oxygen drop below two to five parts per million. When this occurs, it

What Are The Worst Conditions During The French Revolution
To begin, during the French Revolution the peasants lived under the worst conditions. Peasants
formed the largest group within the third estate, more than 80% of 26 million people in France.
The poor had no part or say the decisions that the government would make. Peasants and the rest
of the third estate were expected to pay an enormous amount of taxes, that the second and first
estate did not have to pay. For example, there was bad weather around 1780 caused a widespread
of crop failures, resulting in a shortage of grain. That lead to the doubled price of bread, peasants
could not afford to purchase the bread because of the outrageous amount of taxes that they had to
pay, this lead to many people in the third estate facing starvation. Not only was this unfair for the
peasants, it made them become outraged, and lead them to the beginning of the Great Fear. To
continue, the Great Fear was a wave of senseless panic that swept through france. Rumors circled
that nobles were hiring outlaws to terrorize the peasants. The peasants have already been through

Comparing The Birth Stories In The Gospels Of Matthew And...
Compare and contrast the birth stories in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. How do the
differences set up distinct theological emphases in each Gospel?
The foundation of the Christian faith is cradled within truth of the virgin birth, life, and resurrection
of Jesus Christ. As diverse as the world wide Christian culture is, the truth in the birth and life of
Jesus stands without border and language limitations. Just as each individual life story can be
adapted to be relevant for a variety of audiences, the birth story of the Messiah was also. The
Gospels of Matthew and Luke are an example of the well rounded and diverse narration of the
birth story of Jesus Matthew s narration spoke to the history of the Jewish people and Luke
presented to the citizen of Rome.
In the Gospel of Matthew, the focus on the Jewish genealogy of Jesus played a significant role in the
birth story. To fully understand Jesus, it was imperative to first acknowledge who Jesus was within
Jewish ancestry and his subsequent position as King of the Jews. Jewish tradition passed down the
oral and written story of Messianic prophecies for generations. To provide the correlation between
the anticipated Messiah and the fulfillment through Jesus, Matthew affirmed prophecies throughout
the birth story with two significant fulfillments Abraham s promised seed [offspring] and the virgin
birth.

The Pantheon in Rome and the Candi Prambanan in Indonesia
Around the world people have been known to dedicate themselves and their families to a certain
type of religion or God. Practicing religion has been a major part of peoples daily rituals for
centuries. Believing in a higher power than ones own takes full dedication to that certain
religion or God(s). In order to give respect and be able to apply action into these beliefs it has
became a tradition around the world to build a place of worship. These places of worship are
referred to differently across the world depending on location and the religion being practiced.
More specifically the Templeis a building that is devoted for worshiping but also is known to

known to house their Gods in Temples usually with a multitude of columns to incase a statue of a

word for Temple) to praise and worship their Gods.4 For instance, the Romans constructed The
Pantheon, dedicated to the Gods of Ancient Romecompared to Candi Prambanan built by the
Indonesians in order to worship the concept of Trimurti. 3 The link between these two cultures can
be seen in the way that both Romans and Indonesians worship their Gods in Temples with the use
of separate sacred rooms and what these Temples represent for their culture, but are able to be

Democracy In J. Allen Smith s The Spirit Of American...
Discussion Democracy flourished in America where it had previously floundered in Europe. As
early as 1907, J. Allen Smith attributed this to the fact that the colonists were more active,
enterprising, and dissatisfied than the typical Englishman, in his work The Spirit of American
Government,. He noted that the Revolutionary War was not sparked by colonists hating the
monarchical system, but by the negative relationship between England and its newest colony. This
attitude, coupled with an active revolution, created the perfect outlet for democratic theory to be
expressed and enacted (Smith, 1907; Thoman, n.d.). In creating an independent nation, the founding
fathers looked to various forms of government, both ancient and modern, for inspiration.

A Reflection On The Shelter At The Uu Fellowship Of San...
Introduction Participating in the overnight shelter at the UU Fellowship of San Luis Obispo,
was an eye opening experience. When people think of homeless people, right away they think of
the stereotypical description of a homeless person, such as dirty, on drugs, or mentally ill. I was
one of those people who had a stereotypical picture in my mind, but participating in this shelter
changed my perceptive on the description of homeless. As my shift began, I realized for the
most part the shelter was composed of single women, and two families, including the fathers.
Most of the people were already resting in bed, therefore there wasn t as much interaction
between the volunteers and the clients. I was able to interact with one of the families because
they were out in the hallway with their little boy. From this family, I learned that the father had a
job, but he didn t earn enough to provide housing for his family. The mom didn t work because
she was taking care of her little boy and she was 7 months pregnant. Since the shelter is only
provided for overnight stay, the mom and the little boy sometimes stay at the boyfriend s mother
house during the day. In addition, I noticed that these people have been at the shelter for quite
some time. They were interacting among each other as if they knew who they were, and I noticed
each individual had their own specific bed. Another thing I noticed was a young lady around 20
years old doing homework, which I assume she must be either

Phineas And Ferb Character Analysis
Phineas and Ferb is a children s television show that is played on the Disney Channel. The show
is about two step brothers, Phineas and Ferb, who are out of school for the summer and are in
need of activities to do during the day. The two boys always feel they have the need to do
something new every day of the summer. They always end up doing something extremely
unrealistic and the activities are almost always dangerous, especially if they were to be
performed in real life. Their older sister, Candace, is always trying to get the boys in trouble for
the things that they are doing. There is also a sub plot to this show which consists of the boys pet,
Perry the Platypus, who is an undercover spy who tries to take down the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz....

I find this to be a big problem. With the representation of no special needs children, this only
sends the message to kids watching this show that only people without disabilities can perform
activities. With there being no view on this at all, this show missed out on a big platform to be
able to show that people with disabilities can do a lot of the things that others can do. Even
though the idea of the show is based around completely unrealistic events and activities, I would
have included some sort of representation of people with disabilities to show that they can do a
lot of the same things that people without disabilities can do. Including people with disabilities
would have been a great way to show children how to be accepting of people with disabilities and
teach them that it is important to look past someone s specific physical or intellectual disability.
In one episode, the boys make a beach in their backyard and invite the entire neighborhood to
come and attend a big beach bash. The boys also create the roller coaster and have a lot of people
come ride it. In society, people with disabilities go to the beach and are able to attend amusement
parks; I think it would have been a great thing to include someone with a disability and show how
they are able to be accepted amongst kids. This show targets a younger age group between

America vs Language
In the article, Speak Spanish, You re in America!: El Huracan over language and Culture, Juan
Gonzalez, a journalist and broadcaster of the daily show, Democracy Now, describes how
bilingualism has impacted the United States modern education system. He describes an amendment
that would constitute English as the official in the United States, which he believes can be a
potential threat to the educational system. Gonzalez suggests that instead of having an amendment
that constitutes English as the national language, American schools should implement Spanish to
highlight the importance of being bilingualism in the American educational system. A
constitutional amendment declaring English as the national language would be damaging to
bilingual students because it would limit their capability of communicating in English or their
native language, and therefore they have would fall behind in classes and will not succeed in the
American educational system. To highlight the importance of bilingualism, even more the
educational system should implement a variety of languages.
It is beneficial for bilingual students to be taught in both their native language and in English to
assimilate with ease into the American educational system. Gonzalez demonstrates how Native
Americans, especially the Cherokees implemented English in their curriculum while also teaching
them their own language. This form of teaching did not only teach

the lesson learned on the smart board to the Orff instruments. Students showed clear competency in
mallet technique and note recognition. The teacher utilized Orff s and Dalcroze s methods of
teaching. With the constant change in direction of the lesson, the students stayed engaged
throughout the whole lesson. The students were able to perform locomotor actions, along with
performing.
A more education based program was in effect at the University School. This music room was the
only classroom in the school. The classroom environment was filled with many posters with factual

Relevance Of Mythology And Mythology
Mythology is a term widely used for the study of myths, the stories, the beliefs, the understanding of
the world through certain aspects narrated in oral tales to teach values and ethics to the society.
However, one does not find myth in contemporary times rather it is a subject of the past of which
no one is a witness. These mythical tales have been passed down through generations never actually
knowing the origin of its creation. Myth usually has connotations of falsehood, unreasonable,
irrationality which makes the stories and the past related to it a mere lie or fiction. But if myth is
fictitious, then how could it serve the purpose of educating the masses about moral values and
ethics? During the 20th century, many researchers started coming up with their views on the
rationality of mythological stories. The revised definition of myth said that myth is the... Show more

When you call 911 from a land based phone the number you are calling from determines which
911 center receives the call. When you call from a cell phone, the cell phone signal is
transmitted to the closest phone company tower. From there, the signal is transmitted to the
closest 911 center. Sometime the signal is not routed right and could end in the wrong 911
center. However, if that happens, the dispatchers will send it to the right center. According to
Superior Ambulance How 911 Dispatch Works, if you live on the border of two different 911
centers, then most of the time you will have to talk to two different dispatchers. As each one
gathers information, you will get directed to the right center. The information above shows why
the history of 911, the good and bad stories of 911 incidents, and how 911 works is very
important. It is very difficult on the dispatchers and sometimes things can get messed up. While
the dispatchers need to calm and keep their emotions out of the 911 call, the 911 caller also
needs to try to stay as calm as possible. Dispatchers understand that it is hard to stay calm
sometimes. Krankie said, Just because you don t see my face, doesn t mean I m not saving your

Gambling In Edith Wharton s The House Of Mirth
Other characters in The House of Mirth are not affected by gambling and risk taking as severely
as Lily is because they have the financial means and power to gamble or recover from their
mistakes. In the nineteenth century and more specifically the Gilded Age of New York City,
marriage and money were what measured power, so since Lily had neither of those, her position
in that society was very fragile. In Victoria Shinbrot s article Risk and Subversion in Edith
Wharton s The House of Mirth , she ponders the question of Lily s peers being ever [so]
conscious of the looming perception of her public decline and moral failure (42). Lily defends her
playing by saying that Mrs. Trenor had expected it in exchange for her prolonged hospitality,...

Her first and recurring risk is with Lawrence Selden, a bachelor who tries to distances himself
from Old New York. Lily s first decision in the book was to go on walk alone and away from
Grand Central Station with Selden, she gets caught coming from Selden s apartment by Mr.
Rosedale and risks again by lying about why she was in that building. Lily goes on another walk
with Selden, but this time at Bellomont, as a result of this walk Mr. Percy Gryce decided to leave
Bellomont without giving Lily a marriage proposal, which left her still in debt and financial ruin.
Lily will pay the ultimate price for throwing her lot in with Selden since her risks with him
always leave her in a worse off state than she was before she decided to interact with him
(Shinbrot 41). Another person that Lily takes a serious risk with is Gus Trenor; he gives Lily
financial advice and loans her some money and in return he wants sex from her (Wharton 116).
This is a scary scene for Lily because it is a near rape situation and also because it starts rumors
about Lily and Gus Trenor having relations which does not help her social standing, marriage
prospects, or financial situation. Another big risk that Lily takes is going to Monte Carlo with the
Dorsets, Lily accepts their invitation after the previously mentioned Gus rape scene happens, and
she just decided to run away from her

Truth In Sentencing Policies and the Effects on Courts and...
Society has high expectations for criminal justice. Controlling the behavior of people is a difficult
task, and there are several differing opinions on how this should happen. Many believe this can best
accomplished by prevention through deterrence. Deterrence can be achieved from increased police
patrols, good relationships with the community, and through tough penalties for convicted
criminals. When deterrence fails, criminals need to be identified and held accountable for their
actions. Law enforcement enforces many different crimes; some of the most serious crimes are
violent crimes. According to the FBI s Uniform CrimeReporting Program, violent crime is defined
by four offenses: murder and non negligent manslaughter,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

According to Brian J. Ostrom, Truth in sentencing is the most prominent sentencing reform
movement of the 1990s (2001). Truth in sentencing was designed to closely align the sentence
imposed by the judge with the actual amount of time served in prison by restricting or eliminating
parole eligibility and good time. This violent offender incarceration and truth in sentencing initiative
was amended in 1996 to promote reform by providing States grants to expand their prison capacity
if they included truth in sentencing requirements to violent offenders (Rosich, 2005). This grant
program was instrumental in many states adopting the truth in sentencing guidelines into their
policies. To be eligible for grants, each state had to demonstrate they applied truth in sentencing
laws, within three years truth in sentencing laws would be implemented. By 1999, 41 states and the
District of Columbia passed laws or implemented some form of truth in sentencing; however each
state varied in their applications.
TRUTH IN SENTENCING EFFECT IN COURT Each states truth in sentencing policies regulated
offender s time in prison, each state chose different ways to do so. The basic sentence of time
served may be determinate or indeterminate, for the states using indeterminate sentences this
percentage can apply to the minimum or maximum sentence. Most states that used truth in

How Did Technology Affect The Development Of The Vietnam War
Technological advancements have played a crucial role in prospering a country s economic and
social standing. Looking at it from a resourceful perspective, a country heading into war puts a
strain on the nation s resources due to the high demand of goods. Generally speaking, wars do,
however, accelerate the technological development of a nation in order to adapt to the needs of the
military. Prior to the start of the Vietnam war which began in 1955 1975 technological equipment
such as the helicopter, airpower, infantry weapons, booby traps, and anti aircraft were not around.
Only until the start of the war, we began to see an advancement in equipment. These improvements
have altered the lives of citizens both on a large and a small scale.
The Vietnam war was a lengthy war that lasted for approximately 20 years. The war was between
northern and southern Vietnam against communist beliefs. Northern Vietnam was pro communism
and so were its allies Viet Cong. Southern Vietnam was anti communist and was allied with the
United States. The war began in 1954 following the upcoming of Ho Chi Minh and his communist
Viet Minh party in North Vietnam. The reason for the U.S involvement in the war was due to the
fear of the domino effect where one country falls to communism and the surrounding countries
follow. Prior the to the Vietnamese war, the world s two superpowers (the United States and the
Soviet Union) were involved in the cold war. The cold war was more or a less a state of

The On The Block Chain The public ledger is also called the block chain, which is again distributed to users, to independently verify the chain of ownership of every bitcoin amount which approximately six times per hour, the groups of accepted transactions between users is added to the block chain that in turn publishes it to the nodes. Doing so allows the software to determine when specific bitcoin amounts have been spent which is necessary, in order to prevent the double spending of currency which eliminates the need for a central authority, something that can be thought of like a fail safe to prevent fraud. Preventing double spending by people is necessary for the system to keep the block chain complete, consistent, and unalterable. By making it a necessity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the number becomes smaller, the longer the average it would take to find a required nonce, due to the lower probability that a particular value will produce less than the target. This is further solidified by the act of the bitcoin system of periodically adjusting the difficulty target so that the average time the network needs to find a nonce is about 10 minutes. By doing this, as computer hardware gets faster by the growth of technology regarding computer hardware over the years, the protocol will simply adjust its mining target to make mining always last around 10 minutes thus creating an objective regulation which does not give anyone an advantage, something the current system is consciously lacking with the presence of day trading and the profession of investors in general. This acts as an additional safeguard against those wishing to create unfair advantages in the trading and production of Bitcoin and acts as almost an antivirus to prevent corruption due to consistent innovations in the methods to corrupt. The measure, dubbed proof of work, makes any modifications of the block infinitely more difficult because an attacker would be required to outperform the combined power of the rest of the network which continues adding new blocks to the original version of this block chain, something that is physically impossible in the current ... • 4. Heinrich Himmler And His Life Essay Heinrich Himmler was born on October 7th, 1900 in Munich to a middle class Bavarian family. His father was Joseph Gebhard Himmler, a secondary school teacher and principal. His mother was Anna Maria Himmler (maiden name Heyder), a devout Catholic and extremely attentive mother. Heinrich had an older brother, Gebhard Ludwig Himmler, and a younger brother, Ernst Hermann Himmler. Heinrich was named after his godparent, Prince Heinrich of Wittelsbach of the royal family of Bavaria, who was tutored by Gebhard Himmler. Educated at secondary school in Landshut, Himmler served as an officer cadet in the 11th Bavarian Regiment at the end of WW1, although he saw no active service. After working briefly as a salesman for a fertilizer manufacturing firm, Heinrich Himmler joined the Nazi partyand in the November of 1923 participated in the Beer Hall Putsch as a standard bearer at the side of Ernst Rohm. All of these roles combined together were a major reason for Heinrich Himmler being chosen for the jobs he received later in his militaristic life. It is surprising, that Heinrich Himmler, the chief of the SS and the primary architect of the Holocaust, has not attracted the attentions of more biographers. For all that he had taken part in for the history of the Third Reich, he appears to lack the infamous charisma of Heydrich or Hitler, and because of this lack of infamous charisma he has been presented only rarely as a primary subject for a book about the holocaust and the ... • 5. Facing It By Yusef Komunyakaa Summary Facing It by the American black poet Yusef Komunyakaa of Shreveport is written with the use of visual images. Yusef Komunyakaa writes about one of his many trips to the Vietnam s Veteran s Memorial in Washington DC. This Memorial is a long polished slab of black reflectant granite with the names of all the US soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam. Yusef says my black face fades, hiding inside the black granite . Here Yusef uses his reflection in the wallto bring the reader back to the war and how he feels standing at the wall now. He makes his feeling ambiguous and give the reader the opportuntity to decide what he is feeling through his use of viual images. For example, one of these images can be interpretted in the section My... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps he was someone that Yusef knew. With Yusef s thoughts flying back to the days at war, he could have interpreted the reflection of a flash of a camera or a white cloud and instantly remembered seeing this man blown apart by the flash of a booby trap. That particular experience would definitely have stuck with anyone as a very prey like memory. Another mysterious image Yusef writes is A white vet s image floats closer to me, then his pale eyes look through mine. I m a window. He s lost his right arm inside the stone . When he says a white vet s image floats closer to me, he could either be talking about the memory of a white man he served with or a white man walking closer to him at the wall. When the man s pale eyes look through Yusef s this could be that the man at the wall is not really looking at him but at the names on the wall, or that the eyes are looking through him because Yusef is watching him die in Vietnam as his soul is drifting away. Perhaps this is the Andrew Johnson and he lost his arm in the stone as in in the war and Yusef is speaking for him and other fallen heroes like a window. Also if it is a real man s reflection, maybe his pale eyes looking through Yusef s could be showing Yusef the same pain and hurt that they both went through in the war in the sense that Yusef becomes a window, by sharing the same hurt. Maybe this man really did not have an arm or maybe his reflection of his arm was just hiden in the wall. This symbolizes what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Between 1793 and around 1800 Eli Whitney played an important role during the Market Revolution when he invented the Cotton Gin, which changed the manufacturing of cottons, and the Interchangeable part machines that helped the making of gun parts and luxury items that were easy to produce. Each of his inventions played a very large role in people s lives for the North and the South. The inventions definitely changed the manufacturing of cottonand the making of gun parts which revolutionized the United States. The plan was to charge farmers with two fifth of whatever profits they could make. For farmers, the idea was exciting when they learned about the Cotton Gin and the intention not to share any profits with Whitney and Miller. • 11. Writing In The Age Of Distraction Cory Doctorow Summary The article Writing in the Age of Distraction by Cory Doctorow is an article talking about how the Internet is often misconceived as a place where procrastination comes alive. In said article, Doctorow makes a detailed list on how he manages to avoid procrastination and get work done, while still using the Internet. The first step he lists is setting a goal for yourself and sticking with it. Choose a number of words or number of pages you want to type for that day and aim for it. Do not stop before you reach that goal. Similarly, Doctorow says, once you do reach that goal, stop for the day. Stop in the middle of your sentence even, so that the next time you sit down to work, you know where to start from. In his exact words, Doctorow states: When you hit your daily word goal, stop. Stop even if you re in the middle of a sentence. Especially if you re in the middle of a sentence. That way, when you sit down at the keyboard the next day, your first five or ten words are already ordained, so that you get a little push before you begin your work. (Doctorow) He then says that when you are actually sitting down to work, you need to stop researching. One of the easiest ways to get sidetracked while working is by getting distracted by information that isn t important for your assignment, but seem relevant at the time. Set aside specific time for research so you don t end up procrastinating when you should be working. Another tip Doctorow gives is to remember not to get distracted using your word processor. Doing things like playing with the font or debating over which color your words should be in will only kill valuable time. Turning off your cell phone and ignoring social media notifications is also a great way of making sure you don t end up wasting your own time. I choose to write about Doctorow s article because I often find myself getting distracted both before and during the process of writing a paper. Much like Doctorow, I d been instructed by several high school teachers to stay away from the Internet while writing so I didn t divert my attention away from the assignment I was supposed to be working on. During the first three years of high school, I followed this advice almost religiously, and even went so far ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. World s Increasing Demand For Energy Essay World s increasing demand for energy is fulfilled by different sectors (like Oil, Coal, Natural Gas, Hydro, Nuclear and others). Fossil fuels remain the dominant source of energy powering the world economy, supplying 60% of the energy increase out to 2035. Within that, gas looks set to become the fastest growing fossil fuel, spurred on by ample supplies and supportive environmental policies. 1.1 BACKGROUND From the advert of the modern oil and gas industry, petroleum geologists and engineers have followed a conventional route for exploration; look for hydrocarbon source rocks, find reservoir quality rocks where hydrocarbons can accumulate, identify a trapping mechanism and then drill a well. But a revolution is taking place in the exploration and production (E P) industry. Rocks that in the past were of little interest, other than as potential source rocks, are today being actively pursued as potential reservoirs. When considering unconventional resource plays, the focus is on finding organic shale s. This development represents a fundamental shift in the way exploration companies consider resource plays. Engineers and geologists studying shale gas resources find that reservoir can lead to process adaptation and refinement of techniques. It is important to integrate data from many sources and at many scales to optimally drill, complete and stimulate wells to produce hydrocarbons from their source rocks. The two other type of existing unconventional gas resources are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Entire Sanctification Definition Man was created in the image of God, imago Dei. Man was created for love and to love God. Man knew truth and happiness. God did/does not want to force us into relationship and so He gave us free will. Adam and Eve exercised this free will in the garden and they fell from grace; the fall. Adam rejected the moral law that has three uses (to show sin in the world; to bring man to Christ; to keep man alive). The moral law is right and good concerning all things. The moral law shows us that we must keep close to Christ and we will keep close to the law. It is in Christ that we find freedom from the law. Wesley instructs that believers must keep the moral law to grow deeper in God s grace. Adam also rejected the presence of God. In this place man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are babies, born again, and as we mature in faith we move closer to the likeness of Christ. Assurance to Wesley was the belief that man could know they were saved. Wesley did not use the word conversion a lot. It is when a person goes from being a child of the world to a child of God. This occurs due to a person s response to prevenient grace. Once a person realizes they are in need of God and have sin in their lives they are led to repentance. At this moment the person is justified. This is evident when regeneration occurs and the person is born again. All of this is a gift from God. This all begins the process of sanctification. A person then is aware of sin in their lives and the battle it brings and wants to continue to be in the peace of God that comes at justification. Repentance and the works suitable for repentance fills the person s life. It is the acts that causes the person to know they need Christ. Being in a regenerated state, a complete renewal of the inside, the person moves into being an Altogether Christian, totally committed to God and relationship with Him. • 15. Prescription Drugs And Its Effects Essay When patients have already faced the situation that they could not afford their prescription brand, they would turn to other measures. One of those measures would be to use a different brand to substitute the same drug to treat their condition. However, this drug may not be as effective as their previous one. For example, Epipens are a very popular drug to treat individuals with severe allergies. If they experience an allergic reaction, they would rely on an Epipen injection to offset it. While it is a very popular and widely used allergy treating prescription, its substantial price increase over the years have made it quite an expensive one. With being quite costly, patients may turn to finding an inexpensive brand, anticipating that it would have an equivalent effect as their previous prescription. However, according to Rubenfire from Modern Health Care, [f]or most drugs or devices, patients might look to a competitor for a cheaper price. But Dr. Bobby Lanier, a Fort Worth, Texas based allergist, said most of his patients end up using the name brand EpiPen rather than competitors such as Adrenaclick (Rubenfire). Thus, this points out that alternative brands claiming to have equal effects as the name brand may not be as efficient to treating the patient s condition. With its cheaper price and yet ineffectiveness, it may lead patients to worsen their overall health due to the circumstances given by the new drug. In other words, their health is at risk since they would have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Literary Transcendence Of John Keats Works Far... The literary transcendence of John Keats works far surpasses the malevolent criticism of the Tory Journals. The beauty of Keats poems and letters, have held him in regard as the quintessential Romantic poet, whose short life was ultimately consumed by his struggle for acceptance in the dominant literary community. In the opening lines of Endymion, Keats writes A thing of beauty is a joy forever ; an assertion that anything beautiful will give unending pleasure a belief that is carried throughout not only in Endymion but also Ode on a Grecian Urn. It is commonplace for Keats poems to explore the different forms of beauty most typically through nature, romance and the ideal. Keats work exemplifies the paradoxical tensions between the passage of time, the permanence of beauty and the disappointment of reality. Though beauty is arguably subjective thus rooted in opinion and perception, beauty for Keats is a transcendent aesthetic found in every aspect of the human existence and beyond. It would be prudent to understate the impact of Keats tragic family life on his writings. Keats was haunted by his anticipation of his future death after prematurely losing his father, brother and, perhaps most traumatically, witnessing the death of his mother to tuberculosis. These events culminated and into what Hamilton s 1969 psychoanalytic study concluded as his attempt to complete the mourning process. Furthermore, Hamilton suggested that Keats externalised his dreams and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The separation of powers, which neither any branch working alone can change the U.S. constitution, is a kind of harmony that is similar to what is described in Plato s aristocratic regime, where each class minds their own jobs to keep the state functioning. Timoracy honours the rulers while is contemptuous of manual activities and trade; for its rulers, they will eat communally and devote themselves to gymnastics and training for war. Some take the view that, All research ultimately has a qualitative grounding, while others believe There s no such thing as qualitative data. Everything is either 1 or 0 (Howe, 1988). There won t be any living organism on our planet without water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden] Pollutions such as sewage and fertilizers contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. At high levels, nutrients can over stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygenas they decompose, and block light to deeper waters.[David Krantz] This could be very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the respiration ability of fish and other creatures of the sea. Pollution is also caused when silt and other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites, urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains.[David Krantz] Pollution in the form of organic material enters waterways in many different forms as sewage, as leaves and grass clippings, or as runoff from livestock feedlots and pastures. • 39. Democracy In J. Allen Smith s The Spirit Of American... Discussion Democracy flourished in America where it had previously floundered in Europe. As early as 1907, J. Allen Smith attributed this to the fact that the colonists were more active, enterprising, and dissatisfied than the typical Englishman, in his work The Spirit of American Government,. He noted that the Revolutionary War was not sparked by colonists hating the monarchical system, but by the negative relationship between England and its newest colony. This attitude, coupled with an active revolution, created the perfect outlet for democratic theory to be expressed and enacted (Smith, 1907; Thoman, n.d.). In creating an independent nation, the founding fathers looked to various forms of government, both ancient and modern, for inspiration. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. A Reflection On The Shelter At The Uu Fellowship Of San... Introduction Participating in the overnight shelter at the UU Fellowship of San Luis Obispo, was an eye opening experience. When people think of homeless people, right away they think of the stereotypical description of a homeless person, such as dirty, on drugs, or mentally ill. I was one of those people who had a stereotypical picture in my mind, but participating in this shelter changed my perceptive on the description of homeless. As my shift began, I realized for the most part the shelter was composed of single women, and two families, including the fathers. Most of the people were already resting in bed, therefore there wasn t as much interaction between the volunteers and the clients. I was able to interact with one of the families because they were out in the hallway with their little boy. From this family, I learned that the father had a job, but he didn t earn enough to provide housing for his family. The mom didn t work because she was taking care of her little boy and she was 7 months pregnant. Since the shelter is only provided for overnight stay, the mom and the little boy sometimes stay at the boyfriend s mother house during the day. In addition, I noticed that these people have been at the shelter for quite some time. They were interacting among each other as if they knew who they were, and I noticed each individual had their own specific bed. Another thing I noticed was a young lady around 20 years old doing homework, which I assume she must be either ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though the idea of the show is based around completely unrealistic events and activities, I would have included some sort of representation of people with disabilities to show that they can do a lot of the same things that people without disabilities can do. Including people with disabilities would have been a great way to show children how to be accepting of people with disabilities and teach them that it is important to look past someone s specific physical or intellectual disability. In one episode, the boys make a beach in their backyard and invite the entire neighborhood to come and attend a big beach bash. The boys also create the roller coaster and have a lot of people come ride it. Rebeca Patino Formal Essay #4 OAKS D America vs Language In the article, Speak Spanish, You re in America!: El Huracan over language and Culture, Juan Gonzalez, a journalist and broadcaster of the daily show, Democracy Now, describes how bilingualism has impacted the United States modern education system. He describes an amendment that would constitute English as the official in the United States, which he believes can be a potential threat to the educational system. Gonzalez suggests that instead of having an amendment that constitutes English as the national language, American schools should implement Spanish to highlight the importance of being bilingualism in the American educational system. A constitutional amendment declaring English as the national language would be damaging to bilingual students because it would limit their capability of communicating in English or their native language, and therefore they have would fall behind in classes and will not succeed in the American educational system. To highlight the importance of bilingualism, even more the educational system should implement a variety of languages. It is beneficial for bilingual students to be taught in both their native language and in English to assimilate with ease into the American educational system. In Victoria Shinbrot s article Risk and Subversion in Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth , she ponders the question of Lily s peers being ever [so] conscious of the looming perception of her public decline and moral failure (42). Controlling the behavior of people is a difficult task, and there are several differing opinions on how this should happen. Many believe this can best accomplished by prevention through deterrence. Deterrence can be achieved from increased police patrols, good relationships with the community, and through tough penalties for convicted criminals. When deterrence fails, criminals need to be identified and held accountable for their actions. Law enforcement enforces many different crimes; some of the most serious crimes are violent crimes. • 51. How Did Technology Affect The Development Of The Vietnam War Technological advancements have played a crucial role in prospering a country s economic and social standing. Looking at it from a resourceful perspective, a country heading into war puts a strain on the nation s resources due to the high demand of goods. Generally speaking, wars do, however, accelerate the technological development of a nation in order to adapt to the needs of the military. Prior to the start of the Vietnam war which began in 1955 1975 technological equipment such as the helicopter, airpower, infantry weapons, booby traps, and anti aircraft were not around. Only until the start of the war, we began to see an advancement in equipment. These improvements have altered the lives of citizens both on a large and a small scale. The Vietnam war was a lengthy war that lasted for approximately 20 years. The war was between northern and southern Vietnam against communist beliefs. Northern Vietnam was pro communism and so were its allies Viet Cong. Southern Vietnam was anti communist and was allied with the United States. The war began in 1954 following the upcoming of Ho Chi Minh and his communist Viet Minh party in North Vietnam. The reason for the U.S involvement in the war was due to the fear of the domino effect where one country falls to communism and the surrounding countries follow. Prior the to the Vietnamese war, the world s two superpowers (the United States and the Soviet Union) were involved in the cold war. The cold war was more or a less a state of ...
