 Address question ‘How are you?” to one pupil at a
time
 Make plentiful use of the pupils’ first name
 If the question “How are you?” is directed to several
pupils in succession, the tonic syllable changes
 First pupil : How are you ,Bill?
 Second pupil : And how are you, Alison?
 Teach appropriate replies:
 (I’m) very well, thank you
 (I’m) fine, thanks
 (I’m) not too bad, thanks
