3. 1- NUCLEAR/BREEDER SEED:-
• Such seed are produced directly under the supervision of plant breeder and
possessed all the required genetic characters. Such seed have high genetic
value and are costly due to very little in quantity. It may be produced by
breeder concerned institute when the breeder is not available. Breeder seed
is used to produce foundation seed.
• In case of self pollinated species, mass selection may be regularly practice
to retain the genetic purity of the variety.
• Nuclear seed have no tag colour and not required seed certifications

• Produce from FS and RS itself, it Is a parent of Certified seed and registered
Seed. It has specific genetic identity and purity and is usually produce by
progressive farmers under technical gradance and supervision from SSC.
• Mostly this step is escape and certified is produced directly from foundation
seed. It is generally practice in India.
