This document outlines PHP functions including function declaration, arguments, returning values, variable scope, static variables, recursion, and useful built-in functions. Functions are blocks of code that perform tasks and can take arguments. They are declared with the function keyword followed by the name and parameters. Functions can return values and arguments are passed by value by default but can also be passed by reference. Variable scope inside functions refers to the local scope unless specified as global. Static variables retain their value between function calls. Recursion occurs when a function calls itself. Useful built-in functions include function_exists() and get_defined_functions().
In JavaScript, almost "everything" is an object.
-Booleans can be objects (if defined with the new keyword)
-Numbers can be objects (if defined with the new keyword)
-Strings can be objects (if defined with the new keyword)
-Dates are always objects
-Maths are always objects
-Regular expressions are always objects
-Arrays are always objects
-Functions are always objects
-Objects are always objects

PHP 8.0 comes with many long-awaited features: A just-in-time compiler, attributes, union types, and named arguments are just a small part of the list. As a major version, it also includes some backward-incompatible changes, which are centered around stricter error handling and enhanced type safety. Let's have an overview of the important changes in PHP 8.0 and how they might affect you!
This Presentation depicts JavaScript concept for Csharp developer.It helps to understand the concepts of JavaScript resembling/differentiate them with C# concepts.
It contains different concepts of Object Oriented PHP like cloning of object, Inheritance, function overriding, Final function, Error Handling, Exception Handling, Custom error handling class, Uploading a file to the server with different criteria like file size, file type, file extension etc. are discussed in this presentation.
Kindly look at it and give comments to improve it as good as possible ways.

Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

LF Energy Webinar: Electrical Grid Modelling and Simulation Through PowSyBl -...DanBrown980551
Do you want to learn how to model and simulate an electrical network from scratch in under an hour?
Then welcome to this PowSyBl workshop, hosted by Rte, the French Transmission System Operator (TSO)!
During the webinar, you will discover the PowSyBl ecosystem as well as handle and study an electrical network through an interactive Python notebook.
PowSyBl is an open source project hosted by LF Energy, which offers a comprehensive set of features for electrical grid modelling and simulation. Among other advanced features, PowSyBl provides:
- A fully editable and extendable library for grid component modelling;
- Visualization tools to display your network;
- Grid simulation tools, such as power flows, security analyses (with or without remedial actions) and sensitivity analyses;
The framework is mostly written in Java, with a Python binding so that Python developers can access PowSyBl functionalities as well.
What you will learn during the webinar:
- For beginners: discover PowSyBl's functionalities through a quick general presentation and the notebook, without needing any expert coding skills;
- For advanced developers: master the skills to efficiently apply PowSyBl functionalities to your real-world scenarios.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

2. Outline
• Functions
• Function declaration
• Function Arguments
• Variable number of arguments
• Returning Values
• Variable Scope
• Static variables
• Recursion
• Tricks
• Useful Built-in Functions
• Assignment
3. Functions
• Is a sub program.
• A block of code that is defined under a certain name
( function name ).
• Can take arguments.
• Can return a value.
• Function name has the same naming rules as variables
and constants.
• Function names are not case sensitive.
7. Function Arguments
• Default argument values:
function doIt( $name = “PHP” )
{
echo “Hello ” . $name;
}
Can be called :
doIt(); // Hello PHP
doIt( “Guys” ); // Hello Guys
• It is preferable that the arguments with default values
should be the last arguments passed to the function.
8. Function Arguments
• PHP emits a warning if the number of the arguments
passed is not the same the number of arguments in the
function declaration.
• PHP does not throw any warning in case the number is
bigger than the arguments in the function declaration.
function doIt( $name )
{
echo “Hello ” . $name;
}
doIt(); // a warning is emitted
doIt( “Elephant”, “Cow” ); // this is OK
10. Variable number of arguments
• PHP allows you to create a function with unlimited
number of arguments.
function displayAll( )
{
$numargs = func_num_args();
$arg_list = func_get_args();
for ($i = 0; $i < $numargs; $i++) {
echo $arg_list[$i] . “ ”;
}
}
displayAll( “This” , “is”, “a”, “good”, “thing.” );
12. Variable Scope
$a = 1; /* global scope */
function test()
{
echo $a; /* reference to local scope variable */
}
test(); // echoes an empty string
13. Variable Scope
The GLOBAL keyword:
$a = 1; /* global scope */
function test()
{
global $a; // can also use the $GLOBALS array
echo $a; /* reference to local scope variable */
}
test(); // 1
14. Static variables
• Static variables are initialized only one time.
function test()
{
static $a = 0;
echo $a;
$a++;
}
test(); //0
test(); // 1
test(); // 2
15. Recursion
• Recursion occurs when something contains, or uses, a
similar version of itself.
• In programming, it happens when a function is having
a call to itself.
• The factorial problem :
• 5! = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 120
17. Tricks
A function inside an IF statement :
if ($condition) {
function doSomething()
{
echo “Will only be defined if the IF condition is true";
}
// some code
doSomething();
}
18. Tricks
A function inside another function:
function doSomething1()
{
function doSomething2()
{
echo "I can only be called from inside doSomething1
n";
}
// some code
doSomething2();
}
21. Useful Built-in Functions
• boolean function_exists( $name )
• Checks whether there is a function with that
$name.
• void get_defined_functions()
• Gets a list of all names of defined functions in the
script.
22. Assignment
- Write a PHP function that calculates the average of passed
parameters (The number of parameters is dynamic).
