CK17 is a basal/myoepithelial cell keratin that is induced in activated keratinocytes and associated with disease progression in squamous cell carcinomas. The study examines CK17 expression in anal squamous cell carcinomas, basaloid squamous cell carcinomas, pure basaloid carcinomas, and anal intraepithelial neoplasia. The results show that 100% of invasive squamous cell carcinomas and basaloid squamous cell carcinomas exhibited diffuse CK17 staining.
