Pat Tillman was born in 1976 in San Jose, California. He had a successful high school and college football career as a linebacker at Arizona State University. In 1998, he was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, where he played professionally until 2002. Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Tillman left his NFL career to enlist in the U.S. Army. He served as an Army Ranger and was deployed to Afghanistan, where he was killed in action in 2004 at the age of 27. Tillman made the ultimate sacrifice by leaving football to serve his country, and he remains a celebrated American hero.
