2. Ciocănești Village
Ciocănești village is situated in
the south-west part of Suceava
county. Located in Bucovina’s
forested Crests, at an altitude of
850 – 940 meters, the village is
situated at a 6 kilometers’
distance from the crossroad of
the national road that takes to
Maramureş region (Borșa) with
DE576, and at a 20 kilometers’
distance from Vatra Dornei
touristic resort.
3. Bucovina’s forested Crests represent a wonderful twinning of valleys
and hills, of resinous and broadleaf forests that creates a unique
landscape, uplifting and full of beauty. In these wonderful places live
the descendants of the Blacksmiths, the artisans of old times’ weapons,
with which the ruler’s militias were watching the county back then.
4. The village is in a permanent

5. AFSR – ‘The Most Beautiful Villages of Romania’ Association, has
organized a press conference at the French Embassy in Bucharest,
where the locality designated as ‘Romania’s Cultural Village 2014’
was announced.
The chosen candidacies for the final evaluation, were the following:
• Cumpana village (Constanţa county)
• Izvoarele village (Prahova county),
• Bezdead village (Dambovita county),
• Poiana Stampei village (Suceava county)
• Ciocanești village (Suceava county).
The ‘Ciocănești’ parish in Suceava county (North Romania) has been
designated the winner.
