                                                                                  SYNOPSIS

ELECTRONIC COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN covers the general introduction to the basic concept and fundamentals of electronic simulation and the applications of
electronic packages for electronic circuit simulation at the circuit level and the logic level. Attention is also given to the concept of simulation for analogue, digital logic
and mixed-signal circuits using various types of simulation analyses using an electronic simulation package such as Protel/Altium Designer, ORCAD, PSpice, or
Electronic Workbench.

                                                                     COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Describe the concept of electronic circuit simulation and the applications of electronic simulation packages. (C2)
2. Apply various types of analyses and tools provided in the simulation package and analyze the simulation results to ascertain its compliance to the electronic circuit
   theory. (C4)
3. Draw the various analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit schematics and simulate the circuits using a particular simulation package. (P4)

                                                                                                                             IMPLEMENTATION

EC302 Course Outline: Electronic Computer Aided Design

  • 1. COURSE INFORMATION OUTLINE CODE & COURSE : EC302 – ELECTRONIC COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN PRE-REQUISITE(S) : NONE LECTURER : MOHD AT-TARMIZI BIN ABU HASSAN DEPARTMENT : ELECTICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT DELIVERY METHOD : PRACTICAL CREDIT HOURS : 2 TOTAL THEORY HOURS : 0 TOTAL PRACTICAL/ TUTORIAL HOURS : 45 PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLO) Upon completion of the programme, students should be able to: 1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals to well defined electrical and electronic engineering procedures and practices; 2. Demonstrate practical skills which includes the ability to troubleshoot, repair and do maintenance work for electrical and electronics equipment with specialization in computer ; 3. Demonstrate awareness and consideration for societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities, taking into account the need for sustainable development; 4. Communicate effectively with the engineering community and the society at large; 5. Function individually or in teams, effectively, with a capability to be a leader; 6. Demonstrate an understanding of professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of electrical and electronic engineering practices; 7. Apply creative and critical thinking in solving problem related to assigned tasks; 8. Recognise the need for entrepreneurship; 9. Recognise the need for professional development and engage in independent acquisition of new knowledge and skill. SYNOPSIS ELECTRONIC COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN covers the general introduction to the basic concept and fundamentals of electronic simulation and the applications of electronic packages for electronic circuit simulation at the circuit level and the logic level. Attention is also given to the concept of simulation for analogue, digital logic and mixed-signal circuits using various types of simulation analyses using an electronic simulation package such as Protel/Altium Designer, ORCAD, PSpice, or Electronic Workbench. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: 1. Describe the concept of electronic circuit simulation and the applications of electronic simulation packages. (C2) 2. Apply various types of analyses and tools provided in the simulation package and analyze the simulation results to ascertain its compliance to the electronic circuit theory. (C4) 3. Draw the various analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit schematics and simulate the circuits using a particular simulation package.
