The document discusses the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). It provides information on the legislative act that established HIPAA, the administrative simplification rules enforced by the Office for Civil Rights, and covered entities that must comply with HIPAA. It also summarizes key aspects of HIPAA regulations including protected health information, use and disclosure limitations, notice requirements, penalties for violations, and examples of HIPAA violation cases.
Presentation given at HL7 Norway on april 1st, 2014. Subjects are: why a new standard? what are the basic building blocks of FHIR? What are profiles? How do we make documents out of resources? Also contains some example architectures.
Interoperability is one of the most critical issues facing the health care industry today. A universal exchange language is needed to assist health care providers in sharing health information in order to coordinate diagnosis and treatment, while maintaining privacy and security of personal data. Health Information Exchanges (HIE) allow for the movement of clinical data between disparate systems; they enable providers to electronically share health records through a network. This presentation provides an overview of HIE and the Meaningful Use requirement related to the exchange of clinical information as well as information about standards of exchange and the recommended "next steps" for providers.
The document provides an introduction to FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources). It outlines some of the limitations of previous HL7 standards like V3 being too complex and documents (CDA) not being sufficient. It notes the need for a transition path from V2 and something to address new markets. FHIR is presented as a new approach that is focused on implementers and uses resources as the basic building block. Each resource has its own model and unique ID. The goal is to make implementation easier compared to previous standards.
This document discusses confidentiality in healthcare. It defines confidentiality as an ethical concern reflecting the right to privacy where healthcare providers must disclose patient information privately. A breach of confidentiality occurs when patient information is disclosed to a third party without consent. The document provides tips for safeguarding confidentiality such as not leaving computers unlocked with patient information visible and only sharing patient information with those who need to know. Violations of confidentiality can result in disciplinary action, legal issues, and reputational harm. Maintaining confidentiality is important for ensuring quality care and protecting patient privacy and trust in healthcare professionals.

A 5-Step Guide for Successful Healthcare Data Warehouse OperationsHealth Catalyst
Starting and sustaining an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) for a sizeable healthcare organization might seem as challenging as, say, forming a new country. While it is an arduous undertaking, there are plenty who have gone before. In this article, one EDW operations manager shares five steps for success:
Start with a Leadership Commitment to Outcomes Improvement
Build the Right Team
Establish Effective Partnerships with IT
Develop Interest and Gain Buy-In
Pivot Toward Maintaining Success
Successfully implementing and sustaining EDW operations is about establishing and managing priorities and understanding the enterprise-wide implications.
The Four Keys to Increasing Hospital Capacity Without ConstructionHealth Catalyst
Many health systems have a hospital capacity problem as demand for patient beds rises. When the supply of usable patient beds can’t meet demand, the negative impact on patients and staff can be significant.
Hospitals can solve capacity problems with four key concepts:
1. Using data, start with the problem and the ideal solution.
2. Be sure the analytics team works with teams throughout the organization—including leadership.
3. Have leaders spend time with the operations team to understand workflow.
4. Focus on the impact, not the tool.
EMR systems provide more in-depth data tracking over time with access to clinical decision support tools and a full medical history including x-rays, labs, and allergies. In contrast, EHR systems focus on giving reminders for patient screenings and checkups to improve individual patient care and simplify sharing up-to-date real time information.
This document provides an overview of the HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) standard for exchanging clinical documents. It describes what CDA is, the components of a CDA document, how CDA documents can be rendered and exchanged in messages, and examples of use cases for CDA. The key points are that CDA specifies an XML format for clinical documents to enable their structured exchange between systems, CDA documents have human-readable and machine-processable parts, and CDA relies on other HL7 standards for semantics.
The document provides updates to ICD-10-CM coding guidelines for 2023. Some key updates include clarifying that code assignment for complications of care is based on documentation of a relationship between the condition and care/procedure. Chapter-specific updates include guidance on coding HIV infections, sepsis, malignancies, diabetes, dementia, gestational diabetes, and termination of pregnancy. Social determinants of health codes and codes for underimmunization status are also addressed.
The document discusses health information exchange (HIE), defining it as a platform that facilitates the exchange of healthcare information among various stakeholders commercially and non-commercially. It identifies the key stakeholders as healthcare seekers, providers, pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies/chemists, insurers, government agencies, NGOs, and institutes. The document outlines the interactions and value propositions of HIE for each stakeholder, such as improved care quality, access to new markets, increased sales and membership, and better health outcomes.

2. Hoe zoek ik in CINAHL?
Zoeken in CINAHL Plus with Full Text
links naast Advanced Search).
Advanced Search
3. Subject Headings, subheadings, Explode, Major Topic
Alle referenties in CINAHL hebben specifieke termen of woordcombinaties toegekend
gekregen.
CINAHL Headings (zie figuur) :

of Term Begins with).

7. MAJOR CONCEPT
