Child sexual abuse involves adults using children for sexual gratification through acts like sexual assault, exploitation, grooming, or producing child pornography. It can cause long-term psychological and physical harm to victims, especially when committed by a family member. A study in India found that over 50% of children reported facing some form of sexual abuse, with the highest rates among street and institutionalized children as well as those in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Delhi. Most abusers are known to the child in a position of trust or responsibility.
