Abstract
This study looks at parents’ views regarding the role of Playing in the Early Learning of
Children. Play is an important part of childhood and a lot of learning and development in the
initial years of a child takes place through play. The demands of modern society and modern
education have greatly reduced the time and avenues of play available to children with
detrimental effects. Research established beyond doubts that play is a universal method of
developing the unique abilities of children of all backgrounds.
A research into stress experienced by children during play and the correlation to parental
involvement pointed to increased stress when parents did not get involved in their play. The
current study looks into the concerns that parents have regarding children’s play habits and its
importance in the learning and development of their child. The study uses observation and
interview techniques to analyse the views of parents on their children’s play.
