WHAT IS CHILD LABOR ?
 The term child labor defined as
“work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity,
and that is harmful to physical and mental development ’’

Child labor is some type of work performed by children below
age “18”
Children working before they reached the lawful minimum age
for employment in the country.

CHILD LABOR IN PAKISTAN
 Child labor is a sad truth of Pakistan and unfortunately it
prevails in many forms in the country. According to a survey
conducted by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, out of the
estimated 40 million children in Pakistan, approximately 19
million are working as child laborers.
UNFORTUNATE
REALITY
 Pakistan is amongst the top ten countries
having the issues of child labor.
 Children below 5-15 in Pakistan are above
40 million.
 50% of these economically active children
are in age group of 5 to 9 years

 The Factories Act 1934.
 The West Pakistan Shops and
Establishments Ordinance 1969.
 The Employment of Children Act 1991.
 The Bonded Labour System Abolition Act
1992.
 The Punjab Compulsory Education Act 1994.
EFFECT OF CHILD LABOR
 Child labor deprives a child of a proper childhood.
 He suffers physically and mentally torture.
 He becomes mentally and emotionally mature to
fast whish is dangerous too.
 it condemn the child to a life of unskilled, badly
paid work.
 Ultimately this will create room for another child
labor generation.
RECOMMENDATION
 Awareness raising activities should be arranged so that
people are informed about children's right to educate and
leisure.
 Child labor laws should be strictly puts into practice.
 Provisional health and educational services for working child
should be ensure.
 Government should create awareness among people to
control population so that more opportunities of job for all
can be created.
 Microfinance programs so that families have sufficient
opportunities of income and keep their children out of paid
work.
