Description
• Today Pakistan is facing a lot of social problems but some are very
common in Pakistan , which are destroying our society and also
economy of Pakistan.
• Like Corruption, Poverty, Illiteracy, Population Growth, Terrorism,
Smuggling, Drug abuse, etc.…

What is Child LABOUR?
The term “child labor” is often defined as:
“work that deprives
children of their
childhood, their
potential and their
dignity, and that is
harmful to physical and
mental development.”
INRODUCTION
Child LABOUR has become a major issue throughout the world but in the third world
countries , like Pakistan, it has grown to the maximum level.
This international problem is becoming intense with every passing day because a large number
of children are forced to do work which is completely against the law.
According to United Nations International Children Emergency Funds(UNICEF) there
are approximately 158 million children of age 5 to 10 working as child LABOUR worldwide.

• The international labor organization state in its latest world report on child
labor that are around 265 millions working children in the world of -17%
of the world wide children population
 INDIA has highest number of child labor
 IN ABSOLUTLY TREM ,
 Child labor for the 5-17 year agro range is highest in India 5.8 Millions
 FOLLOWED BY BANGLADESH 5.0 MILLOINS
 AND then PAKISTAN HAS 3.4 MILLOINS
CHILD LABOUR IN PAKISTAN
Child LABOUR is a socioeconomics problem of Pakistan from the
beginning and the presenting negative effects till now.
Today child LABOUR in Pakistan is the most prominent issue of all
social issues.
Cause of child labour in Pakistan
• Due to poor financial condition of families children are found working to support
their families economically.So poverty is the greatest single cause of
child labour.It leads to the alarming rates of child labour.
Effects of child labour in Pakistan
• Child labour causes plenty of negative effects.
• It harms the children mentally,physically and socially.
• So, child labour also leads to child abuse.
A Fact…
Pakistan is amongst the top ten countries having the issue of child labor
 Children below 5-15 in Pakistan are above 40 million…
 50% of these economically active children are in age group of 5 to 9 years.
 73% of them are boys and the rests are girls.

Poverty is the basic reason and driving force
that compels these children to work like labours
and earn a little money at the end of the day.
UNEMPLOYMENT OF ELDERS.
 Another important reason is unemployment which forces the parent to send their children
to work places .
 Due to unemployment its become compulsion of parents to make their children to work in
factories, shops, even selling items on streets.
Excess Population
• In villages there is trend to early marriages and have large number of children. To fulfill
the basic needs they compel their children to do work.
• So they have no other choice but to work and earn a little amount to support their
families.
• They consider children as their source of
Income and they make them to work like pulling carts
Repairing machines, work in factories, selling goods etc...

various successfully initiatives have been carried out in the

Different types of child labor
1. Carpet weaving:
• Most popular export from Pakistan
• Somewhere between 500,000-1 million Pakistani children work as full
time carpets weavers
Nearly 70% of child labourers, work in agriculture, fishing, forestry and hunting
3. Automobile Workshop
In one automobile workshop of 150 working children,
120 of them worked from 8-10 hours
without any safety measures.

1. Spread awareness
2. More stringent laws and effective implementation.

CHILD LABOUR LAWS
• ON 6 AUGUST 2020, PAKISTAN banned child domestic for the first time that make it illegal
for children to participate in domestic labor . The government recognized
that consequences for this labor such as TRAUMA OR ABUSE among young
domestic workers
• ARTICLE 11 of the constitution of ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN GURRANTEE
THAT ,
(No child below the age of 14 years shall be engaged in any factory ,
or mine ,etc. )
 Education is the one of the most effective means of controlling and combating
child labor
Pakistan’s Efforts
• The Employee Children Act, 1991
• Punjab compulsory Education Act 1994
• The government gave free books to primary schools so parents with limited budgets are now
able to send their children to schools
• No laws are enforced
• The Pakistan Parliament is a part of the elite, so they pay no taxes and don’t want to make
any changes to the system
Conclusion
1. Child labours are working not the choice of their own. They are the victims of
their circumstances and we are taking benefit of their compulsions.
2. These children are working as a labor in school going age for the survival of their
families and to full fill the basic necessities.
3. Government should provide the basic rights to these children and should also
help them in getting education in his way our country can get rid of social evil
4. BY provide all necessary things we can stop child labor .
5. BY awareness about education .
6. BY ,applying laws strictly , we stop child labor .
7. Compulsory education may break the attitude of the people who force
the child to do work .
