The author's childcare philosophy is focused on making a difference in individual children's lives, even if she cannot help every child. She was raised in a large family and enjoyed helping younger family members learn and develop. Her goal is to open an early childhood development center that facilitates learning through a support system of teachers and family members working together. Selecting her as a partner would be an investment in her education and the rehabilitation of underprivileged children's lives through her center.

1. My Childcare Philosophy
I once heard the story of a little boy who walks along the
beach, sees a sea of abandoned starfish and begins to position
them back in the ocean. A gentleman comes along and contends that placing a few
starfish back in the ocean will serve no real purpose - the boy could not possibly save all
of the starfish. The boy tenaciously picks up another starfish, returns him to his home,
looks at the gentleman and replies, “Well, at least I made a difference to that one.”
I have that same philosophy for children. Being raised in a large family, I learned
that it was important to take on the role of helping to teach younger family members
the fundamentals of walking, talking, exploring, and pretending. My love of helping to
nurture young lives only grew, and I became interested in learning about how and why
a child’s mind develops and ways to foster various learning styles.
My ultimate goal is to earn a Doctoral Degree/Minor in Psychology and Educa-
tion. I am currently devising a business plan to open a Baltimore-based, Early Childhood
Development Center. I will incorporate an educational program that facilitates child
rearing through a familial support system. “It takes an entire village to raise a single
child” and I want to re-introduce a structure of learning dependent upon the mutual
aid of teaching staff and family members.
Choosing me a partner would be an investment in my education, and in the
achievement of the countless children from urban and underprivileged families whose
lives will be rehabilitated by my center. No, it may not be possible for me to assist every
child and family in my sight, but please support me in reaching out to those whom I
can.
