This document discusses the need for improved civics, financial literacy, and character education in schools. It notes that over half of students score below proficient in civics and over 90% need more career development training. The Liberty Learning Foundation was created to address these issues by developing an innovative curriculum taught through live school events to spark students' interests and allow real-world applications. Their Super Citizen program expanded across Alabama through community support and improved student test scores and behavior.
3. The Need
• More than 66% of high school students scored below “proficient” on
the last national Civics assessment; 54% of college seniors failed.
• Only 7% of high school students can be considered financially literate.
• Character Education is the “X factor” that experts in parenting and
education have deemed integral to the success of our youth.
• 81% of students believe they need more career development and real-
world learning

Dropout Prevention Center Network, Joe Foss Institute, U.S. Dept. of Education, numerous universities, etc.
4. Despite the Facts …
Civics, Character, Financial Literacy, and our Great American
Story were being pushed out of the classroom.
With budget cuts and emphasis on teach-to-test, success
would have to take an unconventional approach.
5. Inspiring students by creating innovative & exciting approaches to learning that will
spark or rejuvenate the American Spirit in today's youth.
Empowering students by providing opportunities for them to turn lessons learned &
inspiration sparked into actions & real life applications.
Teaching students by arming educators with free & flexible teaching tools that
create a foundation for becoming good, responsible citizens.
