• As an instructional effectiveness specialist with the Chicago Public Schools,
Suzana Ustabecir draws on more than 15 years of experience in the same
school system. During this time, Suzana Ustabecir has remained dedicated
to the success and well-being of Chicago students as well as to the district's
specified commitments.
The Chicago Public Schools strive to provide high-quality education for all
children across the city. The district centers its efforts on three core
commitments, the first of which is continued increases in academic
achievement. To facilitate this progress, the district aims to provide a
challenging and well-developed curriculum that incorporates pedagogical
best practices and relevant learning activities.
Drawing on the talents and knowledge of its teachers, the district has
engaged in a plan to create a sequenced K-12 curriculum that prepares
students for the changing workplace. In-process, subject-specific initiatives
also include a balanced literacy program, which supports students in
developing critical reading skills, and an inquiry-based science model that
prepares students for Next Generation Science Standards.
