This document discusses the transition from scarcity-based models of production and consumption to abundance-based models enabled by technological progress. It outlines how innovations over the past century in areas like energy, food, water and materials have made it possible to meet everyone's basic needs but these breakthroughs have not been universally accessible. The document argues that the way we currently account for risk and value through mechanisms like patents, profits and GDP-based metrics may be limiting widespread access to abundance. It envisions alternative non-scarcity models of sharing innovation, investment and production that could be enabled by connectivity and distributed manufacturing in a post-internet world.
This document appears to be a resume or portfolio for an individual named Nick Faulconer. It includes descriptions of several projects he worked on related to architecture and sustainable design. The projects involve designs for an ecological center, solar house, pool facility, concert hall and more. For each, there is a brief overview of the project goals and Nick's role in areas like concept development, modeling and software use. Diagrams, renderings and pictures are included to illustrate the design concepts.
One Club Creative Bootcamp LA 2013 - We Are at WarCarolyn Khoo
- Objective: To create a social media marketing campaign for NKLA within 1.5 days’ with a team of complete strangers and pitch our idea to industry professionals.
- When we think of NKLA, we imagine contemporary street artists who are not afraid to voice their opinions, such as Banksy, and Basquiat, a revolutionary artist who went against the status quo. OBEY, Bon Jovi’s “Have a Nice Day” music video, Obama’s Hope Campaign, as well as KONY 2012. We believe that NKLA can expand and become a driver of an underground social movement, which can help propel their mission forward, to make LA a completely no-kill city for shelter pets.
- The people of LA have what we identify as an "LA complex”: There is a strong bandwagon effect in LA. People are following "what's in”, yet people still like to stand out, and not want to be associated with the pack. People have a strong sense of LA pride and even for their specific cities like Venice Beach, West Hollywood, and Central LA. Additionally LA is also at the forefront of setting trends, and we want to tap into this for our campaign.
- 1/3 shelter pets are put down each year. With our campaign, we want to incite action against the tragedy that is the current situation, to focus more on what people CAN do to help.
- Ladies and gentlemen...
We are at war! Lives are at stake. We want to raise awareness and incite action against this tragedy, to join arms, take on the challenge, and fight.
- Title: Ignorance is Bliss
One-liner: People see what they want to see.
Music: Rain Drops Keep Fallin' on My Head - BJ Thomas
PLAY MUSIC. Chad wakes up and gets ready to leave. He heads out and hops on his bike as a grenade explodes behind him. Chad pedals away as bullets fly past him, glass shatters, alarms blare as he nonchalantly cruises down the street. He stops at a crosswalk and in the background, fighter jets fly overhead, tanks roll out and buildings crumple to the ground. He is completely oblivious to his surroundings. Chad crosses the street away from burning trees, more gunfire and then a large piece of paper (recruitment pledge) lands smack into Chad's face. END MUSIC. After he pulls off the NKLA pledge from his face, Chad is shocked and horrified as he absorbs the warfare and destruction around him.
The video abruptly ends to black. And the following copy appears: Casualties since 2011: More than 17,000 perfectly good & healthy animals. Will you ignore the war? Take the pledge at NKLA.org. Let's make LA the first No-Kill City in the Nation. Viewers will be directed to the pledge.
- Plan of Action - If we want to create a movement, we need to ensure that everyone can participate.
- Map fueled by pledges signed and mentions on twitter
- This campaign ties back to our big idea that we are at war. Everyday innocent animals are put down, and our goal is to put an end to it. Let's make LA the first No Kill City in the Nation. Enlist now...let's bring the animals back home.
