Dr. Jean-Jacques Degroof, PhD, is deeply involved in
biomedical entrepreneurship. Among his numerous
activities in the field, he served in 2013 and 2014 on the
advisory board of the Charite Entrepreneurship Summit
organized by the German Charite Foundation. In
addition, Jean-Jacques Degroof was a member of
various panels at the conferences.
Designed to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in
the biomedical field, the Charite Entrepreneurship
Summit is held each year. The Summit hosts physicians,
scientists and medical entrepreneurs from around the
world to exchange ideas on how to innovate in their field
through, for instance, novel approach to
commercialization of academic research and the use of
entrepreneurial health accelerators.
3. Charite Entrepreneurship Summit
The Charite Entrepreneurship Summit features
workshops and programs such as Healthcare and Digital
Transformation and Value-based Medicine. There are
also a number of panel discussions and guest speakers
during the conference to discuss specific subjects dealing
with the innovation in health care.
The 9th Annual Charite Entrepreneurship Summit was
held in Berlin, Germany, in May 2016. The two-day event
hosted more than 400 attendees and included 80 guest
speakers. The focus of the 2016 Summit involved the Life
Sciences Venture Market and also introduced the work
being done in Canada as a special partner of the Charite
Summit. A number of Canadian innovations were
introduced during the summit.
