2. Introduction
• A venture investor, mentor, and teacher, Jean-Jacques Degroof has
taught and served fellowships at a number of American and
European business schools. In addition, Jean-Jacques Degroof
served in 2013 and 2014 on the advisory board of the Charité
entrepreneurship summit as part of his focus on innovation
management.
Sponsored by Stiftung Charité, the annual Charité entrepreneurship
summit is dedicated to the foundation’s principles of research and
innovation in health care through a partnership with the Charité-
Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Held at the Berlin-Brandenburgische
Akademie der Wissenschaften, the 2015 entrepreneurship summit
focused on the future of health care and, along with the main event,
included an entrepreneurial workshop, a symposium for clinical
scientists, and the Charité management lecture.
3. Charité Entrepreneurship Summit
• Speakers at the 2015 summit touched on a wide
variety of health care topics, ranging from
innovations in the industry and global antibiotic
resistance to issues facing startup companies and
regional challenges. The summit also offered two
workshops: one on business design in the health
care field and the other on breeding innovation
directly from care organizations. Speakers included
top-level executives from every facet of the industry,
built around a dinner speech by Christopher
Coburn, the vice president of innovation at Partners
Healthcare.
