1. Chapter 6 – Hard Way Home Taylor Cunha 8-14
Quick Write:
A situation where I seen someone so close to success but yet so far away was when
I was watching American Idol and the contestants are on TV trying to sing for success. They
are close to success but still very far from it because they get the opportunity to compete
and sing on live National TV but they are still far from success because not all of them will
win the competition. Also they might even win but wont make it anywhere with a singing
career and you might not hear much about them when the show is done because I would
imagine it is very hard to find a record label that you like and that will sign you, and this has
happened before with past winners but past winners have also made it far and played on
the radio with many fans. I felt very upset and bad for them because a really good singer got
voted off and it probably made them feel like maybe they weren’t good enough. I couldn’t do
anything because there was nothing I could do to change the votes.
After Reading:
1. Greg was angry because he couldn’t take his supplies back to Korphe to build the
school. The Changazi people and the Skardu people kept making him feasts trying
to make Greg make the school there and arguing about where the school should be
built.
2. Greg’s feelings about the Changazi people of Skardu were that they were being like
the other men who were “greedy, dishonest and always arguing”
3. If I was Changazi, my motive for keeping Greg and the school supplies in my
community would be saying how much the children need school and how the school
being built in my community would benefit everyone’s future.
4. Looking from the perspective of Changazi, I don’t think he is a bad person I think he
is just trying to help out the children of his community and benefit all of the people in
Skardu without thinking of others in need of school.
5. I predict that Greg will nicely tell the people in the village of Skardu why he cannot
build a school in their village right now and that he may in the future. I think that Greg
is sticking to his promise of keeping the school in Korphe because that is where he
got the idea to build the school there and he made them a promise that he would
build them a school.
