This document contains the agenda and homework assignments for a 6th grade English class on April 2nd and 3rd. On April 2nd, the class will cover spelling and vocabulary, grammar with a lesson on adjectives vs adverbs, and literature with a test preparation on the book Out of the Dust. The homework assigned is to complete vocabulary pages, take notes on the next grammar lesson, complete a short response test on Out of the Dust, study for a grammar test, and finish independent reading logs. On April 3rd, the class will focus on the literature test.

Lesson 6: Adjective or Adverb?
Some pairs of adjectives and adverbs are often confused...
• Good and Well
> Good is always an adjective; it modifies a noun or a pronoun
That was a good documentary about Mt. Everest
> Well is usually an adverb, modifying a verb, an adverb, or an adjective
The filmmaker presented the information well.
> Well is an adjective when it refers to health
After the film, I didn't feel well.

• Real and Really
> Real is always an adjective; it modifies a noun or a pronoun
She prefers real mountains to paintings of mountains.
> Really is always an adverb, modifying a verb, an adverb, or an adjective
The Grand Canyon is really beautiful in the morning.
• Bad and Badly
> Bad is always an adjective; it modifies a noun or a pronoun
I often feel bad about staying indoors so much.
> Badly is always an adverb, modifying a verb, an adverb, or an adjective
That wasn't a bad hike, even though we planned it badly.
