Lesson 7—Avoiding Double Negatives Circle each “double negative” error in
the writing sample below.
Without sand, no one couldn’t build sandcastles or walk on a beach. Sand is
made of fine pieces of rock and minerals that aren’t barely larger than clay or
silt. In a desert, sand doesn’t like nowhere near water but covers the land. On
a beach, sand isn’t never always soft and white. For example, tourists visiting
Hawaii can’t hardly believe they are seeing black sand, which comes from
volcanic lava.
