Chamilo 2.0 is a second generation open source e-learning and collaboration platform being developed by the Chamilo Association as an improvement over Chamilo 1.8.x. It features an object-oriented repository that allows for reusable and shareable objects across the platform. This new structure addresses limitations of the previous course-centric model and facilitates integration with other applications and repositories. The Chamilo 2.0 software kernel and standard modules are largely complete, while further work remains on interfaces, roles/rights, evaluation tools, and performance. The goal is to release a pre-production version in December 2010 and continue evolving the platform in a flexible way.
