The first session will discuss key enabling conditions, increasing capital flows, and coordinating public and private institutions. Presenters will represent Green Industry Centre, Climate Investment Funds, UNIDO, and OECD. The second session will cover current financing instruments, what makes them effective, new instruments under development, and replicating approaches in emerging economies. Presenters will represent the World Economic Forum, EBRD, Natixis, Tata Cleantech Capital, and the African Development Bank. Contact information is provided for follow up.

Challenges and best practices in financing to
accelerate industry decarbonisation
Guiding questions
• What are the key enabling conditions required to attract financing in the decarbonisation of the manufacturing industry?
• Is the main challenge to increase overall capital flows supporting the industry or to channel existing flows towards projects aligned with net-
zero emissions?
• How can public and private finance institutions coordinate action and design new instruments to support the decarbonisation of the industry
sector?
• Beyond industry decarbonisation, how can broader work on sustainable finance taxonomies, transition finance and ESG criteria contribute to
transforming the finance ecosystem towards climate action?

Challenges and best practices in financing
to accelerate industry decarbonisation
Guiding questions
• Which financing instruments are currently used to invest in decarbonisation projects?
• What are the characteristics of these instruments and what are the underlying factors to make them effective? In particular, which public
finance instruments have been successful in mobilising private capital?
• What new instruments are being designed or implemented at small-scale and what are the conditions to scale them up?
• What needs to be done in emerging and developing economies to build on the learnings from industrialised and developed economies to
replicate or design financing instruments?
