Make sure your goals are ethically sound. YOU must believe in it. Be fully prepared -do not waste the audience’s time -learn all sides of an issue -get the facts right
Be honest -Don’t skew the facts to suit your agenda -don’t plagiarize: global plagiarism: stealing the whole speech patchwork plagiarism: copying from 2 or 3 sources incremental plagiarism: failing to give credit to borrowed parts
[object Object], *see example on p.40 Paraphrasing—if the IDEA came from someone else, you must give them credit *Remember: both of these rules apply to Internet sources. As you research, record… a) title of document b) author or organization responsible for document c) date of last update d) today’s date Within the speech, mention author and web site name.
Avoid abusive language --being protected by “freedom of speech” doesn’t make your words ethical.

  • 3. Be honest -Don’t skew the facts to suit your agenda -don’t plagiarize: global plagiarism: stealing the whole speech patchwork plagiarism: copying from 2 or 3 sources incremental plagiarism: failing to give credit to borrowed parts
