This document summarizes Cemflex VB Plate Waterstop, a galvanized steel plate encapsulated in a patented coating that reacts with water to provide a watertight joint in concrete. It is supplied in 2 meter lengths, 150mm high and 1.25mm thick. When fresh concrete is poured around it, the coating softens and expands to penetrate cracks and crystallize, sealing the concrete. The coating also reacts when later exposed to water to continuously seal cracks. It is quick and easy to install before or during the concrete pour to waterproof construction joints.
For most concrete pavements, proactively sealing or filling transverse and longitudinal joints improves long-term pavement performance. These procedures reduce water penetration, which can lead to erosion and subsequent pavement damage, and also reduce entry into the joint of incompressibles that exert pressure on the pavement.
WATERGUARD-PVC WATER STOPS are manufactured from a high quality virgin PVC compound which has been formulated to give excellent flexibility and durability to offer long life performance in concrete structures against water leakages. They are extruded in a range of profiles.
WATERGUARD-PVC WATER STOPS is designed to stop any possible leakage from construction, Contraction and Expansion joints in concrete elements. WATERGUARD-PVC WATER STOPS is used for internal fixing and external fixing. Internal fixing profiles have brass eyelets at about 300mm spacing enabling the water stop to be tied to the reinforcement for support during concreting. External fixing profiles can be fixed by using nails. WATERGUARD-PVC WATER STOPS are manufactured to meet the most stringent specifications and are resistant to abrasion and chemicals. Product Description:
Cemflex VB Plate Waterstop consists of a galvanised steel plate encapsulated in a special patented coating which reacts with water to provide a watertight joint, for use in all non-movement construction joints in reinforced concrete.
Cemflex VB Plate Waterstop is supplied in two meter lengths, it is 150mm high and has an overall thickness of 1.25mm.
Uses and Benefits of CEMflex VB Plate Waterstop:
A highly effective water-stop, suitable for use in all non-movement construction joints in in-situ reinforced concrete.
May be installed before the concrete is poured or installed into the fresh concrete.
Requires only 30mm of concrete cover to function correctly.
Suitable for both Vertical and Horizontal applications.
Highly effective when detailed with PVC Expansion Joint Water-bars for sealing the joint between Movement Joints and Non-Movement Joints.
Independently tested for use up to 5 bar water pressure.
No sticky protection tape to be removed from CEMflex VB Plate Waterstop prior to use.
Offers strength and agility, it is quick and easy to install without welding or special fitting equipment.

How does Cemflex VB Plate work:
When fresh concrete is placed around CEMflex VB Plate Waterstop, the alkalinity (pH11) of the concrete activates the patented coating producing a chemical reaction, causing the patented coating to soften and expand slightly, improving its osmotic effect, this allows it to penetrate deeply into any cracks in the concrete, it then crystallises and seals the concrete.
Once installed, the patented coating on CEMflex VB Plate Waterstop has infinite sealing ability. Should water or moisture come into contact with the coating at any time in the future, the coating will re- activate and repeat the sealing process.

Application Instructions:
Cemflex VB Plate Waterstop is a strong yet pliable element which may be easily shaped for detailing
difficult angles. It may be cut to length, using a sharp cutting tool.
Cemflex VB Plate Waterstop should be installed ensuring that at least 30mm of the plate is embedded
into the first pour of concrete, allowing the remainder of the plate to be covered by the next pour of
concrete. The overlapping of the plate must be a minimum of 150mm and it is held together using
Cemflex Omega Holders.
Cemflex VB Plate Waterstop may be installed by fixing it to the reinforcement using the CEMflex
Omega Holders (as per figure one) prior to pouring the concrete or alternatively Cemflex VB Plate
Waterstop may be installed by pushing the plate into the freshly poured concrete to a depth of at least
30mm, with an overlap of 150mm at the ends and fixed with a CEMflex Clip (as per figure two).

CEMflex VB Plate Waterstop is supplied in 2 meter lengths, is 150mm high and 1.25 mm thick. CEMflex VB is Waterstop packed in wooden boxes with 50 lengths per box.
Storage:
CEMflex VB Waterstop should be stored off the ground, in dry conditions which are free from frost.
