Cell division involves an interphase stage of growth and DNA replication followed by mitosis, where the cell nucleus and chromosomes divide. Mitosis consists of prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase where the chromosomes condense and align, then separate into two identical daughter cells, which is completed through cytokinesis when the cell cytoplasm divides.

2. • Today I am going to talk
to you about cell
division.

3. • The first stage is called the
‘interphase’. There are three
parts in this stage, G1, S and
G2.

4. • This part is G1 (first
growth stage). In this part
the cell and the organelles
double in size.

5. • The next part is S (also called
synthesis). In this stage copies of
the DNA in the cell are made.

6. • The last part of the
interphase is the G2 (second
growth stage). In this last part
the proteins are synthesized
or copied.

7. • Now that the interphase is done
the mitosis stage starts. In this
stage nuclear division begins.

8. • The first part of the mitosis stage
is the prophase. During the
prophase spindles start to get
developed. The chromosomes
condense and form chromatids.

9. • After the prophase the
metaphase starts. During this
part the spindles start to align
every thing and the chromatids
start to line up.

10. • Next comes the anaphase.
During the anaphase the
spindles line up and start to
split up the chromatids.

11. • We are almost finished so this
stage is called the telephase.
During this part the spindles
start to separate the
chromatids and turn them back
into chromosomes.

12. • The very last part is called
cytokinesis. This is when the
cytoplasm splits and you get your
to cells.
