My Duties:
11 Engineerswere workingundermysupervision 3 at one site and4 at remainingtwo sites,
otherthan technical worksmydutyalsoincludedthere management, Otherthanmybase site I
had to visitthe 2 remainingsiteseveryweektocheckthere workand theirattendance andto
guide themaboutthe future assignmentsandtasks.Ienjoyedworkingwithall the teamaswe
all were youngandenergetic.
C) PERSONAL WORKSPACE ACTIVITY:
Deployment:
Visitsitesasa supervisor,Energizingthe cabinetsincludingconnectionof fiberopticwithODF(FC) and
the otherportionto the Switch(LC) ,while energizingImade sure thatits groundedandeverynode was
connectedbyhavingone personatnode pointsandme on the Cabinet.Deployednew
hardware/equipment/application,andfirewalls,cablingbetweenswitches,firewallsandservers,
configure switchesandfirewallsonremote sites,Configure hardwareandNetworks.
Monitoring:
Monitorinstalledequipment/application ,All the three alternativesthatthe clienthasestablished i.e..
Fiber,MetroEthernetandWimax.Resolve networklayer2and 3 issues.
Issue andIts Solution:
“In thisphase I wentthroughsome issuesandresolvedthemaccordingly the firstof themwasa
networkdisconnected betweendifferentdepartmentsfromthe mainDataCentre of the client’s
network.Itwasconnectedthrough JuniperRouterwithIP VPN.Istartedtroubleshootingbychecking
the network flow diagram. The Operational State wasdowneventhoughthe WAN portwasup.The
Sub-nettingwasrightbutthe pingwasunsuccessful.The service provideralsohadnoclue.
There wasno directconnection of the far-end(Remote router)butaconnectionwasneededinanycase
so wentforthe work around.
The area of jobwas verysensitive andurgentsolutionwasrequired.Butthere wasnodirectconnection.
I decidedtogo forthe work aroundas I neededtoestablishconnectionsomehowinordertominimize
the downtime. I askedfora remote connectionto a computerviainternet inNOC(SP) sothat I can have
the connectivity.Iusedthe TeamViewersoftware andestablishedthe connectionthe remote NOCto
telnetthe remote routerfromthere. There wasanerror in sub-nettingandawrongIP addresswasused
at the remote endWAN port.Throughsub-nettingtechniquesthe IPaddresswascorrectedbyme.And
at last the issue gotresolved “
Operation&Maintenance:
Solve problemsonWindowsplatforms,monitor&identifyproblemsinnetwork.Troubleshoot
switch/router/server,Troubleshootissues when,maintainlogsof switchesandrouters,manage
and monitorExchange server2003 onHP SAN clusterenvironment,Active Directoryserver2003
to keepthe operationsrunning.
Documentation:
Keeprecordof all equipment’sof site,Maintainlogof issues daily,Maintainlogof complaints
registeredonservice desk,Keeprecordinventoryissuedtousers,Collectdocumentsassite in
charge andkeeprecordof all activities.
Service DeskSupport:

upgrade layer2 and 3 network,Close ticketsafterverification,Install andconfigure hardwareon
requestsoto ensure maximumsupporttoclients.
ServerAdministration:
Monitor,Configure andtune performance of servers,Resolve issuesif found,Update Operating
Systemspatches,Upgrade software's,Analyze logsforperformance tuning,Generate andshare
systemhealthreportsassite in-charge inordertoensure properworkingof servers.
InventoryManagement:
Monitorcomplete inventoryof Networkhardware,cablingandpowerdiagrams,Trace and
record powersupplymechanismof site equipment's,Update above mentioninventorieswhen
requiredtokeepupto date inventorydetails.
Technology:
JUNIPER, Fiberhome, EMC2, SUN SOLARIS,WINDOWS,MPLS,VPLS,LAYER 2 and 3.
D) SUMMARY:
The Projectwas successfullycompletedin10monthsand one of my site wasthe firstto Produce
100% resultwithinweeksandwasacknowledgedbythe Companyaswell.
ClientwasExtremelySatisfiedwithmyworkandalsogave letterto myCompanymentioning
state of the art work done bythe Supervisorandhisteam.
