In 2003, along with co-founders Erik Swan and Rob Das, Michael Baum set out to solve a big problem. The world was filling up with machine data, and humans needed ways to mine through it quickly. Nearly a decade later, Splunk’s IPO gave it a market cap of $3B. There’s no doubt today that Big Data is big money; but how do you see that coming years in advance? Even today, it’s a confusing term. Ask ten people what “Big Data” means and you’ll likely get ten different answers. Splunk’s founding CEO will talk about chasing big ideas, growing a multi-billion-dollar business and changing the world – all starting with a simple idea.

"Yet another agile transformation"... full of slow, blocked, or flat-out impossible situations. Everyone feels trapped by the system. You are pushed to go against your principles, to get along. You do it because you don't see any other way.
It doesn't have to be this way! Wouldn't it be great to have powerful change options at hand, so you can remove the big impediments and help everyone find a better future more quickly?
We want the free software movement to keep growing and one facet of successful movement building is embracing a multi-generational community. The good news is that there is no age requirement for using, promoting and contributing to free software. The bad news is that we aren't always doing a great job of facilitating a diverse, inter-generational movement. We'll take a look at what we're currently doing to bring in young people, how we are treating older people in our communities and where there is room for improvement.
Using examples from other movements and inter-generational communities, we'll identify tactics that aren't being used to build the free software community and see what we can collectively port over. We plan to inspire the audience to find ways to recruit and retain young people, inspire older people to participate and maintain an unbroken thread of free software conservatorship. If the long-term success of the free software movement is important to you, then you should come to this talk!
Why People Check Their Tech at the Wrong Times (and the Simple Trick to Stop It)Nir Eyal
Chances are you've witnessed and even took active part in a lot of indiscriminate gadget use.
But staying silent about bad technology habits is making things worse for all of us.
We need to develop social antibodies, defenses against new harmful behaviors, or else we'll end up serving technology instead of it serving us.
If we don’t build social antibodies, the disease of distraction will become the new normal.
To do this, we need to find out who's to blame for our distraction and what we need to do about it.

STORYTELLING THE FUTURE: MOMENTUM MAKING FOR YOUR PROJECTSdane howard
Creating and sustaining momentum in projects is critical to their success. 'PreViz’ is a powerful movement that is taking place in film and television, product development and architecture. The practice of ‘Pre Visualizing’ a future product or service is being adopted on a wide scale. Learn how to use storytelling and other momentum-making techniques to powerfully increase your effective quotient. Pre-visualization helps organisations frame the right problems, create a culture of making, start with ‘yes’ and look toward the headlines of the future.
Javantura v7 - Learning to Scale Yourself: The Journey from Coder to Leader - Daniel Strmečki
Your success depends on others, a 1-man army can only achieve so much. The only way to progress from coder to leader is to learn how to scale yourself. Nowadays, you can become a Senior Developer with just a few years of experience. After that, there are many roads and possibilities you can take. Whether you decide for a developer, architect, manager or a mixed career, at one point, you will need to become a leader. In the first chapter of the lecture we will start a discussion on how to get there. Since your time is limited, you need to mentor, coach, motivate and engage others. Start with making a stable foundation, like setting up a proper onboarding process. If you help people around you, they will for sure talk about it, and your manager will hear it. Also, demonstrate ability in everyday work: coding, project management, client-focus, communication and care about others. Always stick to your values and keep high standards. In the second chapter we will discuss the challenges that turn up once you get there. At that point you will deal with people more than technology. You will need to step away from coding for meetings very often. Interruptions will happen every day and it we be very hard to maintain “the flow”. You will need to learn how to delegate and drive topics without implementing them yourself. Visit the lecture to find out some techniques for dealing with interruptions, meetings, prioritization, people and their motivation.

, to two or more of your colleagues in one or more of the following ways:
Select a question offered by your colleague that he/she did not use and suggest potential ways that your colleague or the organization might drive innovation and overcome the barriers and status quo.
Compare your colleague's findings to those of others and your own. If you see similarities, explain why the status quo might appear similar across different workplaces and industries. Do not limit your responses solely to budgetary or resourcing constraints.
Identify any challenges at a colleague's workplace that seem unique or that you have not encountered before. Offer your ideas about why you think those are important and which discovery skill from Dyer, et al., would best enable your colleague and/or the organization to drive innovation and overcome the barriers and status quo. Be sure to provide your rationale for your choice.
Offer your insights to your colleague about the value of this process and importance of using it to identify opportunities for innovation or opportunities to challenge the status quo.
POST1
Ten Questions that challenge the status quo at my current workplace:
1. What if we allowed customers 24/7 access to our model homes, would this increase our sales?
2. What if started a program that allowed customers to stay for one night in our model homes so that they could get a feel for the home (see if it’s a good match)?
3. What if home loans were easier to get and builders covered more costs for the customers?
4. What if my organization stopped focusing intensively on the sale and more on the actual customers’ needs as a homeowner?
5. What if all employees tried to help one another versus helping themselves? What affect would this type of partnership have on the company and its customers?
6. What if we built more than the traditional clubhouse, pool house, and common areas in our communities? What if we offered something that isn’t common such as a community go-kart track or skating rink?
7. What if we decorated the exterior of our central office, including our showroom, in themes each week to excite and attract customer’s attention? Imagine the word-of-mouth advertising we would generate.
8. What if we built a home for the local homeless people to stay in and take up donations for them to get back on their feet?
9. What if we gave one house a year away to someone in need? This type of generosity may attract customers who can appreciate us giving back to the community.
10. What if washed people cars, cut their grass, take out their trash, etc. in exchange for a donation to a local charity?
The one question I chose is #5: “What if all employees tried to help one another versus helping themselves? What affect would this type of partnership have on the company and its customers?”
This question is important because there is more strength in numbers meaning the mo ...

What happens when you brainstorm with 1000s of people? You can find great ideas (and plans, prototypes, partners and people).
We call it crowdstorming. But organizing 1000s of people introduces some new challenges. We studied 100s of projects to understand what works.
This deck is what we use in our workshops to introduce the main crowdstorming concepts. It is also the outline of our book, Crowdstorm. Enjoy Shaun, Pete and Bastian.

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).
